Looked like you did great! I’m going through P2 training with eagle right now and thought I wouldn’t get nervous or anything and then first day first launch my heart rate jumped to over 120 bpm, I landed on my butt shaking and giggling and was hooked, I hope I handle my first mountain flight as good as you did.
I like how you flared perfectly, even though your speed downwind was quite overwhelming. There was no way you could've turned into the wind, unless if you would've had made the downwind turn much higher up. That would have left you with some space and time to turn into the wind. Very nicely managed though. Was fun to watch.
I would instead land on that giant open cull-de-sac with clear approach from any direction and no trees, houses, or other obstructions on the lz that was next to your choice, but yours worked
You made a couple mistakes but then (with some luck) managed to solve the situation. However, I personally would've never decided to land downwind AND uphill. This can really hurt, if not worse. And some suggestions that could help you improve your flying skills: don't cross your legs, you're preventing yourself from doing proper (and agile) weight-shifting. And don't hold your brakes like that. Use a half-wrap or hands-through the handle - doing that you'll get much more refined contact with your wing and will feel and control your wing precisely. Happy landings and keep going!
my 2 cents: how much bar did you use? it didn't look like much ie. dont be afraid of full bar. also, have emergency landing locations picked out ahead of time. it looked like you could easily make that field without turns or bar. other than that, well done on managing a safe landing
you did your best and you got lucky as well. I don't know if I would be able to do better but I'm glad you made it. Did you land downwind? I see your wings dove forward?
Nothing emergency about this landing :)
But situations like this can be very stressful in the beginning.
You kept your cool and dealt with it, nice!
This is more of a bailout than an "emergency landing".

Really great landing. Threaded it between those bushes at the edge perfectly. I hate being low from EJ, you handled it well.

Good landing brings back memories

I learned the hard way that hands-through will lock your hands into the loop when tossing reserve. Classic half wrap is optimal.
Uphill was way better than downhill. Fly on the wall landing. You handled this very well.

Hah! You landed on my friend’s property! I’m sure they were happy to help you have a safe landing
Hahaha amazing!! It didn't seem like anyone was home (or wanted to come out), thankfully. I would have been super embarrassed! 😂
And I'm so glad it was located where it is! The only open space around. Thank God for it! It was my only landing option.
Bravoo !!!
You are a total badass!!! That was awesome!!!
Do you still fly?
it is important not to repeat our mistakes after taking lessons after each flight congratulations
Well you totally nailed that flare ! I was expecting a butt landing :-o
That was great landing!

Yes, downwind! I felt it would give me the best approach.
Great flying with y'all today! If you are ever in ELP, let me know and I'll show you our sites. buzzzeefive gmail.
