  • We launched out of Shelter Island with the plan of heading to the 43 and looking for paddies on the way. We found several paddies holding small yellowtail that didn't want to bite. By the noon we had switched to light gear and we ended up hooking a marlin on 15 lb. test. We also ran into a Mola Mola and a big pod of playful dolphins.

Small world I went to the 43 same day as you on my 21f center console. I had stopped at about 14 paddy’s on the way saw lot of yellowtail 3-12lb but no bites. seen your fish report on fishdope cheered me up to know I was in a good spot. Hooking up on a marlin now that’s awesome 👏

We were on our way to the 43, stopped at the corner for lunch and it was a great stop! It was really slow fishing except for the marlin that day. Thanks for watching.

Thanks, the Mola was so peaceful and hanging out with us for a long time at the surface. It was hard to leave it since it just kept circling us over and over.

@@graylightfishing8743 Yes they seem ever so curious, I had one at my Parker a few weeks ago on the East end. I was by myself however would have loved to get the shots you did. Great Vid!

@@johnnoonan9982 in our previous experiences they were not as friendly, the mola this time was looking at us and would swim towards the boat when we tried leaving. Glad to hear you had such a special experience as well. Thanks for watching.

the mola mola, is that like a sunfish? I was offshore in the Atlantic once and saw a fin, thought it was a wounded porpose, call Coast Guard on vhf, spoke for like 30 mins, then the girl said hey do you know what a sunfish looks like? and i said yea, and i got closer and that's what it was lol. super cool

Alright thank you guys. Do you know any place that makes a nice t top? Our Bimini top has been cracking on our center console and we are looking at getting a new one. It was made for East coast but used on west coast
