I remember a few years ago players wrote DayZ is a dead game. Now we see the patience of developers constant update. Remember that this is the first version of the map.
Yea. I was so upset from watching it when I was little to it finally coming to Xbox so I could play and it was just… what it was. This game’s life cycle is fascinating and I’m glad they’re still working on it.
dude... it was dying hard. I don't even think the devs deserve credit for the comeback so much as the modders that made the game playable for years do. best choice the devs ever made
This game has sold over 4 million copies, and that is a very old number, so it's likely much higher. Less than 40k people play the game. Losing 90 percent of your player base isn't healthy. It's just that the 10 percent that stuck around are so high on copium that these devs couldn't get rid of you if they tried to ruin the game.
I’ve been playing since just before Livonia released and I’m 100% going to buy this and play the hell out of it because it looks like it’s going to be a survival game for once and not a first person shooter like everyone else wants to pretend it is.
Yep, it's nice to know they have a clear personality/style/nieche to their game that they are going to stick with. Instead trying to switch to a more "mass apealing" style. Dayz should be known for how hard it is.
Imagine paying 30 dollars for a 12 year old map. You know what else is 12 years old? You. You and your type are why things are the way they are with games. Your idols may shill this trash but we don't. This will die just like livonia in 6 months.
Removing those big islands from Tanoa and the remaining islands on Sakhal being empty is disappointing. What is the point of boats if you remove islands and the existing islands are empty?

Definitely buying, love the survival first aspect. From what ive seen the views are breathtaking and immersive, seen some of the most intense PVP too. Cant wait!
I was miserable the first day on Sakhal having never played a map with harsh conditions. 3 days later I absolutely love it & you just gotta find a survival method that works for you. The map is fantastic.
@@GekoPish correct me if im wrong, but its recorded on the exclusive release for streamers/youtubers, they cannot just create a server and use admin tools etc. to explore all the map the easy way, so yes, he had to do it the hard way. Of course its edited, but it doesnt mean it was not done the hard way.

this plus snowmobiles... should be some amazing community servers light modded to make this map really pop. Even the survival side, on console I'm dialing the temps way way way down and will build out those islands with some POIs.
I’ve been watching streams for a week and I’m less excited now. The loot progression is weird. Its easier to get high tier loot than mid tier with NATO weapons only spawning in dynamic military crates on islands , no heli crashes, convoys or hunting camps and no toxic zones. The bunker should be on an island and dynamic crates on the southern mainland.
again bohemia just throwing somee sh%$ to get some fan base moneey... instead of Dayz 2 with better graphics and more mechanics.. they just launched the same @##$ from 10 years ago with some plus assets and simple mechanics.
This map is everything I ever hoped for, its beautiful, ruthless and perfect for the game. I really do not want to be too negative, so i am very happy with it but I do feel like the *creative*, new energy of the game Devs is slightly gone. DayZ has been a thing since 10 years and while the base dynamic is only being more perfected, something is missing. One thing i loved about Namalsk is the mystery the nuclear reactor gave, the special zombies that showed up at night time in the mod days. A new, actually weird zombie would have been interesting to come along with the map :o., Not even to mention the radiation storms!!!
I think you need to understand, that masterpiece like Namalsk would probably never existed, if DayZ base wasn't the way it is - basic, neutral, as vanilla as possible. You need solid, neutral base game to be able to build unique expansions on top of it. Good analogy is a minecraft. In it's golden years, it allowed unique and refined modpacks (some technical, some magical and whatnot), because vanilla base game was fairly simple and basic in it's mechanics. If you try to add too much of everything into the base game, maintaining extensive mods becomes tedious and almost impossible in the long run, because now there is too much stuff with the too many moving parts that you need to remove from the game, to make your big mod work and every update just breaks it, because all the codebase for the things you don't want in your modded game is constantly changing. Now this is the way to go - just keep improving basic solid mechanics and let the modders do the content and magic. There is no need to have special zombies in vanilla, you just create the mod and run your custom server. And now you have buttload of servers with tons of possibilities and flavors. That's what truly adds to longevity of the game.
@@JupixCZ I agree with this conditionally and fully agree the game should be a "vanilla" experience. On the other hand I some more extravagant zombies would slowly suit Vanilla. As long as its done with a sane mind and with no power creep or anything lol. I do not enjoy playing modded servers as I cant find any "vanilla" servers that just go a *bit* further. You cant always rely on modders to go that extra step to be coherent with.
@@incursus1401 I feel like it would not go well with lore devs have in mind AFAIK. That's also the reason the Namalsk cannot be part of official DayZ map list (different lore). But I believe that more advanced/interesting AI of zeds would add the challenge without needing to add more types of zeds, I hope they can deliver some AI improvements next year. I'm sorry to hear you didn't have luck with decent modded server yet. It's true that many of servers are overmodded, but at least here in central EU, there still are some vanilla-like servers available. Or well, you know, maybe you can try to host your own server, it's not particularly difficult :)
@@incursus1401 Tbh... I can't at the moment. I just checked and both vanilla-like servers I played before summer are gone lol, didn't even notice. Tried to do a quick search on battlemetrics and it seems Cannabis and Helis mod got popular lately somehow, smh -_-. Gotta look for alternatives after I'll be done with Sakhal. Try to search on battlemetrics or something similar in the meantime. If I somehow stumble across some decent server, I'll get back to you. But it prob won't be before I get to properly try out this new Sakhal map ;)
I can't wait for the new map. I haven't played actual survival in a bit but Sakhal is what me and all my friends are going to play. EDIT: I am a PS5 player. Have over 3,300 hours in the game. Wobo is 100% right. Almost anyone I know on console will be checking this map out.
Aged like milk. PvP is just people shooting each others from each side of the military island bridge. It’s fun, but after some time you just snipe people for the sake of it not for their gear. It feels more like Tarkov PvP than DayZ PvP on sakhal.

Walking through some of the coastal towns it feels like I'm playing Fallout 4: Far Harbour, just without the fog, its very beautiful and I love the difficulty, I never thought a game would make me enjoy fishing or for that matter, make me say the words _"Excuse me whilst I stuff this warm fish in my trousers"_ 👀
My honest opinion as a long-term DayZ player that bought Livonia: 1. Sakhal is cool, but charging 30€ for a new map is laughing at us. No bunker or end play easter egg, most of the new buildings being useless or not enterable. They charge the map as if it almost was a new game. 2. No real compensation for the true supporters of DayZ’s development: the ones that paid not only for the base game but Livonia’s DLC (giving DayZ’s soundtrack is laughing at us). 3. DayZ is already an old and buggy game, it looks like it is still in beta phase. Graphics and mechanics are so poor. 4. DayZ’s community should be more demanding and reslistic, I completely agree that there’s progress been made but we cannot be hyped for having a new t-shirt or hat every 4 months and one or two guns a year, we are in front of a 12 year old game boys. In conclusion, I will not buy Sakhal until there’s a discount, I feel already ripped off by having bought Livonia with nothing in return when it became free. Also, I can’t see the 30€ they want us to pay anywhere in the map, not worth at all, they are just taking advantage of their most loyal community that is hyped when they see a new hat or a recycled gun coming with a patch. I believe DayZ’s development team should speed up things and improve the game by migrating to Enfusion or realeasing DayZ 2 and creating mechanics for all the things you can do in the game or the revival that the game has experienced in the last 2 years will die again.
I say this as a huge supporter of DayZ but precisely because of that, I strongly believe that we should be more demanding with Bohemia and constructive criticism should be more present, we as a community cannot applause things like adding a t-shirt or hat every 4 months, or being charged 30€ for a DLC of a 12 year old buggy game.
All the shittalk of DayZ but it still remains one of the best survival games and a mother to all other survival games aswell It's a 12 year old game sure... but it's been through many phases and restarts / setbacks... 0.63 and 1.0 were a major setback and a restart because they did an big engine switch to Enfusion but it's not full Enfusion yet it's a weird Hybrid... Many of things from pre 0.63 DayZ are still missing to this day... DayZ we got with 1.0 can be easily called DayZ 2 with how much it has changed compared to old DayZ Major changes in DayZ timeline is the first release... then 0.47 ( i think it's 7 ) when they added TENTS lol and 0.59 and 0.60 when they first added Enfusion renderer and DX11... up to 0.62 And then 0.63 and 1.0 They switched a lot to Enfusion engine and switched programming language which made old stuff not work so they had to scrap it for later updates If new DayZ is buggy... imagine how janky and buggy the old DayZ was lol

Leave that for the community servers to add their own builds and create something unique per server, not the best option but provides more variety if done right .
2 weeks ago I was extremely excited, when people start playing and I chose to watch some footage the excitement died, after watching this video the excitement is very much there again, you showcased this brilliantly. I can't wait! GG Wobo. GG DayZ ❤
I like that this became an official DayZ map instead of just being on community servers with snow maps and stuff, but the price is crazy. Even with the discount in my region, it's the same price I paid for the whole game a few years ago. It's nuts to charge as much as the base game for a DLC that just adds a map with some unique features tied to it.
As a survival first, PvP third player. I cant wait for this. Love exploring and fighting against the elements. I know TRMZ was crying about making fires and wants the soft skill of "frost resistance", but its not Namalsk. There is no frost bite to fear. I wish they would do away with character migration though. Gonna be a lot of people starting on Cherno just to hop on Sakhall to have an edge and not deal with the cold.
@@Cowboy1Brian You can transfer characters on official from map to map. So you can get fully looted on Liviona or Cherno then switch to the new map and have all your gear.
For the people that are complaining about the lack of poi’s and geographical variations, you gotta remember how dayz devs operate. They’re allowing us to play the desolate version of the map to assure themselves that future content additions can be fully functional and optimized in accordance to the base map performance. I feel this map will be a fan favorite but In due time, survivors.
Console player here: This is lazy. The island being empty, most of the new assets not being enterable, no end game quest that everyone loves. It’s baffling how they have the guy who made Namaslk on staff and they just phoned this in and want $26 for snow.
You can thank the dumbing down of society. It's like people who buy madden or fifa every year. They cry and cry when they buy it but guaranteed they will buy the next one. But what do I know.
I absolutely love it, players are so friendly and helpful because we all realise the biggest enemy is the environment, the only fights I got into in 3 hours of game time is ones I instigated 10/10 would recommend and I’d say fish before even thinking about weapons
Stripping the original map of a ton of content and then bringing it to market in what feels like a half finished state is a strange choice. It is a very pretty map, but once that wears off there's not a whole lot to do currently. Most POI's are devoid of purpose other than looking pretty. We added boats, then stripped the islands of reasons to use the boats (lets go find some military containers for weapons that have no ammo on the map). Once people realize that the "end game" of the map can be reached in 15 minutes from spawn this map will turn into fully geared players camping out spawn towns because there's nothing else to do. I would have bought this at $15 and hoped to see improvements down the road, at $27 i expect more. For comparison, reforger is $3 more, and is an entire game (some would argue it's just a test bed for arma 4, but the amount of content you get is staggering). Is Bohemia saying this single map is equivalent to all of reforger content wise?
I'd say Sakhal is an expansion pack... with it came lots of other stuff not just the map Livonia is not an Expansion pack but more of a just a map... a different map with not much new But Sakhal? A different beast compared to Livonia and i think bigger then Livonia aswell? With lots of new assets and stuff

@@kajmak64bit76 Did it come with lots of other stuff? There's only a small handul of new assets, the best of which are probably the two new apartment block buildings. There's a couple military garage assets added but they're not very interesting, just one open room. Snow covered trees are nice I guess. The ice axe was in the game years ago and they just decided to toss it back in for this. No new gun, a water bottle that filters water which is cool I guess but not really that intriguing. The vast majority of the new assets aren't that interesting. New shitty fence, new pile of trash. Even the "new cranes" are just a rip from Arma Reforger (which has some amazing, intricate and detailed building assets I would love to see in DayZ but of course we're not getting those.)

Had my first run today and I liked it. As mostly a Namalsk player, it has a similar feel but with fresh places to explore. Can't wait for more modded servers to pop up to play with friends.

The DownBad server admins had a poll asking if we would like to keep the survival mechanics in their pvp modded version of the map, majority said yes. Im looking forward to this as a vanilla map, but hella excited to see how modders tweak things for their servers.
I will admit that i was salty about the whole Livonia thing and wasn't going to get this map. But after watching day 1 streams and realized that i was being unfair to the devs , I have added this DLC to my xbox wishlist.
My main issue with livonia is it's directionless. You just meander over the whole map to find the thinly spread mil gear. And there's no non-toxic military equivalent to NWAF. And please don't say bunker. Without a squad, the pickings there are slim.
No one was buying livonia, and the people that did buy it hardly played it. The DLC was out for years, if you didnt get your moneys worth in that time then its on you.

What spoilers lol theres nothing to spoil outside what it looks like, no bunkers, no new guns and no end game goals, you'll spawn, loot, build maybe, then pvp, repeat till server restarts
exactly. they gave content creators 2 weeks to show the DLC off and theres nothing in the entire map to show off. theres about 4 unique models on the map and all 4 you cant even interact with, not so much as even a door on the 400m submarine they stuck at one of the towns ports. its half-assed lazy un-finished DLC content. people like john mclaine must be viewing this DLC's content in disgust. john mclaine would spend more time/effort/love on a single town on one of his maps than the devs have spent on the entirety of frostline. this is bohemia's biggest L
If it starts to get vacant , the DEVS could push out a Summer Sakhal.... I will buy this DLC and will carry on to do so in the future . I have been a player since Early Access XBox and bought my very first PC just to play DayZ like it was meant to be. Thank you WOBO as I have been with you since the beginning as well , and as far as I'm concerned ,, you are the DayZ master :)
Namalsk was done in a free time and is available for free and it still feels more unique than Sakhal. This is crazy how Bohemia Interactive is wasting the DayZ potential. This is just a rushed small map in winter setting for console players, nothing more.

I'm personally not buying it at release. Maybe after a discount. I've decided to buy No More Room in Hell 2 (early access... But still) which is literally the same price... And it's a full ass game, not just a map (that's not even new, but a reworked version of an existing map). I'll definitely buy Sakhal in a year or two but Namalsk is already here and I'll stick to it for now.
I will most certainly buy it. Only thing that I dislike a little bit about it is the fact that they removed a good amount of landmass as I personally like maps that are a little bit larger but other than that, this update will be huge for me.
I'm buying this for the simple fact that there are modders out their rubbing their hands together for this one. I genuinely don't think I'll touch the official version. which is actually a sad thing. Solid video!

No but seriously 1) Vanilla isn't even hard because "new players join all the time" which means the game needs to be giving to some extent. 2) I don't do bases, and it's going to be crazy for bases. Everybody hides just counting their fishing hooks. 3) It'll be absolutely full of hackers and cheats (pc of course). As for 4) Modders will 100% improve the map, add more POI's and create better loot roots etc.

No gas zone. No heli crashes. No dynamic convoys. If you’re on console, I honestly don’t think it’s worth it, imo. l still most likely will be buying it, though. I’ve watched it on several streams since its release. And the bunker is the only thing that’s great about it, but that’s it. You don’t even need the “briefcase” since the items in it spawn in towns. Makes No sense.
The gas zones are replaced by hotspings and I'm sure convoys will come soon It is a little small for Heli crashes £25... So even if you just spend 100 hours on the map, it's 25p an hour. An extremely cheap hobby.
I hope you’re right. I’m still buying it. I just don’t understand why they didn’t implement some of these things. No hunting areas either. Just particular little towns where hunting gear can spawn.
And the Hot springs do nothing, but give you a heat buff. The big area where there are White NBC zombies walking around has no gas zone. There’s NBC loot too, but no gas mask or filters.
I love DayZ, I am hyped for map, but I do wish they didn't redact so much landmass though, and in my opinion needs more points of interest to truly be a viable longevity alternative escape to Chernarus, even pales in comparison to Livonia in my humble opinion. I look forward to future development of Sakhal 🙏🏻
DayZ Standalone aka The Redheaded Step Child to Bohemia interactive, anyone that has been apart of the DayZ community since mod knows its just always been a funding tool for their Arma series games which now is Arma Reforger. Consoles players got cheated with this DLC namalsk is 100 times better then this map the progression with Sakhal is little to non its literally pointless with a bunch of empty pointless areas as well... like come on Bohemia 5 years of stright growth from 6k player base to a steady 65k+ and you gave us this bull crap...

Absolutely I'll be buying this, a third map on ps5 has been needed for a long time. I look forward to the extreme environmental dangers, will make pvp more interesting.
Finally someone speaking honestly. Yes this wont be a pvp map and probably will get boring after you explore the map. Plus "easier time on spawn areas" means more people will not venture out and will just say in the starter area killing other nakeds :(
This will definitely be a PvP map with its smaller map size and ring road coast. If resources are more scare it also makes it even more pvp focused since killing you might get me the stuff I'm struggling to find. Shoot on sight always

I'm on console and I'm loving it the other two maps became far too easy this is a breath of fresh cold air already got my base setup and now planning to get into the bunker.
Making the interior of the island harder to survive will make the PVP better when you do come across it, coming from someone who only plays dayz for the PVP
The server race to the bottom will begin on Day 1. They will mod everything unique out of it. And after one month it will just another n00b friendly KOS-fest with heavy metal poisoning removed, cold removed, custom wells added, 50 cals spawning on the coast and food everywhere.
You can always play on hardcore 1PP vanilla servers. Just like i do. I almost never play on modded servers because they take away from DayZ this awesome harsh survival experience.
So just don’t play on those servers then. It’s not hard is it. I don’t like heavily modded, I don’t play heavily modded. Some people do like that sort of thing and play on them. What’s the drama about there being choice ffs?
the devs fumbled this map. They reduced the size and got rid of the two huge islands that were on Tanoa. Why are the islands baron? At least put a small village on them or something. I feel bad for console players. They waited so long for new content, just to get a downgraded copy of a pre-existing map.
It's meant for survivalists, but if you can server hop a fully geared character from another map into Sakhal, then the PVP-ers will be happy as they skip all the challenge and hunt freshies.
@@prepareuranus8097 real Dayz is official though, its mental and unpredictable. Community is ok sometimes but I find them too comfy and too set up for streamers to gather footage with the same usual players always on the server. All seems a bit staged and fake to me.

Go watch SovietWomble video essay on DayZ... DayZ was / is split into 3 categories... 1st is vanilla and vanilla+ 2nd is PVP Focused 3rd is Base Building / PVE focused People can't agree on which DayZ is the correct DayZ so they mod it to suit their needs PvP focused adds PVP stuff.. more guns.. high tech guns... tanks.. even helicopters with guns And the PvE focused DayZ added more and better base building and NPC missions and safe zones and traders So really... community DayZ is the real DayZ
@@kajmak64bit76 But the core of dayz was always full freedom in a reasonably realistic open world. No rules, no squadmates visible on a magic radar, no bypassing death by respawning into a sleeping bag, and no admins teleporting in to stop you from "offline raiding". Players who change the core concept don't want dayz to be dayz, they want it to be Rust or PUBG or whatever
@@kajmak64bit76 I say official now because most Community servers have the admin tools loaded which allow people to effect the game if they wish without anyone knowing. This is open to abuse especially the servers ran primarily for big streamers to stage content. I agree though, playing on community servers which do not run the admin mods are far closer to official but there are very few of these. In this case, they can have other types of mods loaded in game. Server owners and their admins often like to involve themselves with the gameplay which I do not agree with. Pure Dayz must not have any mod where in game admins can affect game play as admin abuse is common.
Bohemia Interactive is becoming one of my favourite studio. They didn't half ass this dlc for a quick cash grab, the map design and easter eggs are so awesome. Makes the map really feel like a real place. Generally over the past year or so It has been so admiring that they worked so much on bugs and balance instead of pushing new content. Such a re-fresh after playing CS 2 and dealing with valve. Definetly buying frostline!!!
DayZ making a return to the survivalist gameplay and focusing on actually staying alive rather than just chasing gunshots and driving around looking for kills is a huge W. all of us Namalsk veterans are gonna stomp.
100% buying. Usually was into survival more than into PvP. Even tho we did a moderate ammounts of PvP with my friend, our preference is the survival focused gameplay. So definitely a good map for us.
What do you think about big cities? Did you experience as well some fps drops. Do you think that could be somehow changed or we will need simple put lower settings on quality?
Its a nobrainer that 27eur for this map is absolute ripoff. Just taking tanoa, and changing things is almost copy and paste. Its nothing unique, how long are u guys gonna hype about those new ice sheets and new snowflakes ??? Anyone who has played decent amount of Tanoa would absolutely agree that whis map will die in couple weeks. Tanoa hype was even bigger than Sakhals hype and everyone who bought Tanoa remembers how it ended....A lot of people will say - yeah but i have spent so much hours on dayz so im willing to pay, or - Yeah but we got lots of good maps for free so thats why Sakhal is worth the money. That doesnt mean this map should cost 27eur. I understand that Bohemia needs income in order to keep working on Dayz, but if you copy paste old map that was dead in 2 weeks and just turn it to winter, its not going to work. Im not hating but just saying that if you guys in Bohemia want to acually still make money with this game, you should work on adding NEW and UNIQUE things in the game, copy paste and make the christmas tree white wont really do a trick.... Im not saying that map is bad either, it looks alright, but 27eur, no thanks, there are plenty nice free maps to play.

I played the Sakhal playtest from day 1 and I must admit - thanks to its harsh environment DayZ became a worthwhile singleplayer experience. It's really fun to roam around the new map, getting to know new places and admiring the beautiful views. For me, the environment is a bit too harsh for a PvP experience - your biggest fear on Sakhal is the low temperature - and pneumonia, which comes after you even if you have decent clothing, eventually. If you won't start fires regularly, search for tetra and vitamins, not forgetting about starvation and dehydration (which is another huge risk in early game) - you won't be needing other players to respawn on the coast. I think I'll let myself go with Cherno and Livonia for PvP, whilst Sakhal will be my first choice for the pure survival experience.
£26 for a new map with a few other audio ques, a couple of temperature changes and a altered way to enter a bunker. nope. namalsk, banov, deer isle esseker takistan taviana chiemsee all cost £0.00 dayz devs be off their rockers. there will be probably 2-3 community driven maps during 2025 that are 5x better than frostline. hell the temple in deer isle probably took more designing than the entire frostline map.
God forbid console players get to have something cool too. Us players who only get to play on 2 different maps have no issue paying $26 for hours worth of new content.
i'm shocked people don't realize that game development costs money lol, it's completely fine and affordable price for a completely new map and experience, i will gladly support the devs.. you can wait for the sale, or dont buy it at all

I understand for PC players it’s probably not a big deal, they have everything console doesn’t. It’s comparing rich kids to poor kids. But for console players we don’t have a plethora of choices , having another choice to play is huge and I for one will buy it just to have a 3rd choice to a great classic. Now if we could get the console to update base building so we can have code locks and different door builds and roofs that would be the next great thing
I think the dev team wants it to be a hardcore survival map. (and it will probably be on console). But on PC I think for the most part it will be a PvP map. A large part of the community plays mostly on easy mode PvP servers where survival is more or less turned off, so they will probably mostly run around along the coast and kill new spawns. Until the new community server appears and makes everything easier. Even the majority of streamers and content creators who have already had access to the map have had a very difficult time with the simplest survival aspects. BUT!!! As someone who has always focused on survival, I think it will be a lot of fun once you get away from the PvP players down by the coast. :)
bought it on day 2. it’s hard as shit. you’re gonna die on the coast a lot. fishing is key. fire is key. it’s essentially normal dayz but you HAVE to stand next to a fire for 10 minutes every 30 minutes.

This game has sold over 4 million copies, and that is a very old number, so it's likely much higher. Less than 40k people play the game. Losing 90 percent of your player base isn't healthy. It's just that the 10 percent that stuck around are so high on copium that these devs couldn't get rid of you if they tried to ruin the game.

I’ve been watching streams for a week and I’m less excited now. The loot progression is weird. Its easier to get high tier loot than mid tier with NATO weapons only spawning in dynamic military crates on islands , no heli crashes, convoys or hunting camps and no toxic zones. The bunker should be on an island and dynamic crates on the southern mainland.
again bohemia just throwing somee sh%$ to get some fan base moneey... instead of Dayz 2 with better graphics and more mechanics.. they just launched the same @##$ from 10 years ago with some plus assets and simple mechanics.

This map is everything I ever hoped for, its beautiful, ruthless and perfect for the game. I really do not want to be too negative, so i am very happy with it but I do feel like the *creative*, new energy of the game Devs is slightly gone. DayZ has been a thing since 10 years and while the base dynamic is only being more perfected, something is missing. One thing i loved about Namalsk is the mystery the nuclear reactor gave, the special zombies that showed up at night time in the mod days. A new, actually weird zombie would have been interesting to come along with the map :o., Not even to mention the radiation storms!!!
I think you need to understand, that masterpiece like Namalsk would probably never existed, if DayZ base wasn't the way it is - basic, neutral, as vanilla as possible. You need solid, neutral base game to be able to build unique expansions on top of it.
Good analogy is a minecraft. In it's golden years, it allowed unique and refined modpacks (some technical, some magical and whatnot), because vanilla base game was fairly simple and basic in it's mechanics. If you try to add too much of everything into the base game, maintaining extensive mods becomes tedious and almost impossible in the long run, because now there is too much stuff with the too many moving parts that you need to remove from the game, to make your big mod work and every update just breaks it, because all the codebase for the things you don't want in your modded game is constantly changing.
Now this is the way to go - just keep improving basic solid mechanics and let the modders do the content and magic. There is no need to have special zombies in vanilla, you just create the mod and run your custom server. And now you have buttload of servers with tons of possibilities and flavors. That's what truly adds to longevity of the game.
@@JupixCZ I agree with this conditionally and fully agree the game should be a "vanilla" experience. On the other hand I some more extravagant zombies would slowly suit Vanilla. As long as its done with a sane mind and with no power creep or anything lol. I do not enjoy playing modded servers as I cant find any "vanilla" servers that just go a *bit* further. You cant always rely on modders to go that extra step to be coherent with.
@@incursus1401 I feel like it would not go well with lore devs have in mind AFAIK. That's also the reason the Namalsk cannot be part of official DayZ map list (different lore). But I believe that more advanced/interesting AI of zeds would add the challenge without needing to add more types of zeds, I hope they can deliver some AI improvements next year.
I'm sorry to hear you didn't have luck with decent modded server yet. It's true that many of servers are overmodded, but at least here in central EU, there still are some vanilla-like servers available. Or well, you know, maybe you can try to host your own server, it's not particularly difficult :)

Tried to do a quick search on battlemetrics and it seems Cannabis and Helis mod got popular lately somehow, smh -_-. Gotta look for alternatives after I'll be done with Sakhal. Try to search on battlemetrics or something similar in the meantime. If I somehow stumble across some decent server, I'll get back to you. But it prob won't be before I get to properly try out this new Sakhal map ;)

Aged like milk. PvP is just people shooting each others from each side of the military island bridge. It’s fun, but after some time you just snipe people for the sake of it not for their gear. It feels more like Tarkov PvP than DayZ PvP on sakhal.

My honest opinion as a long-term DayZ player that bought Livonia:
1. Sakhal is cool, but charging 30€ for a new map is laughing at us. No bunker or end play easter egg, most of the new buildings being useless or not enterable. They charge the map as if it almost was a new game.
2. No real compensation for the true supporters of DayZ’s development: the ones that paid not only for the base game but Livonia’s DLC (giving DayZ’s soundtrack is laughing at us).
3. DayZ is already an old and buggy game, it looks like it is still in beta phase. Graphics and mechanics are so poor.
4. DayZ’s community should be more demanding and reslistic, I completely agree that there’s progress been made but we cannot be hyped for having a new t-shirt or hat every 4 months and one or two guns a year, we are in front of a 12 year old game boys.
In conclusion, I will not buy Sakhal until there’s a discount, I feel already ripped off by having bought Livonia with nothing in return when it became free. Also, I can’t see the 30€ they want us to pay anywhere in the map, not worth at all, they are just taking advantage of their most loyal community that is hyped when they see a new hat or a recycled gun coming with a patch.
I believe DayZ’s development team should speed up things and improve the game by migrating to Enfusion or realeasing DayZ 2 and creating mechanics for all the things you can do in the game or the revival that the game has experienced in the last 2 years will die again.
I say this as a huge supporter of DayZ but precisely because of that, I strongly believe that we should be more demanding with Bohemia and constructive criticism should be more present, we as a community cannot applause things like adding a t-shirt or hat every 4 months, or being charged 30€ for a DLC of a 12 year old buggy game.

0.63 and 1.0 were a major setback and a restart because they did an big engine switch to Enfusion but it's not full Enfusion yet it's a weird Hybrid...
Many of things from pre 0.63 DayZ are still missing to this day...
DayZ we got with 1.0 can be easily called DayZ 2 with how much it has changed compared to old DayZ
Major changes in DayZ timeline is
the first release...
then 0.47 ( i think it's 7 ) when they added TENTS lol
and 0.59 and 0.60 when they first added Enfusion renderer and DX11... up to 0.62
And then 0.63 and 1.0
They switched a lot to Enfusion engine and switched programming language which made old stuff not work so they had to scrap it for later updates
If new DayZ is buggy... imagine how janky and buggy the old DayZ was lol

I like that this became an official DayZ map instead of just being on community servers with snow maps and stuff, but the price is crazy. Even with the discount in my region, it's the same price I paid for the whole game a few years ago. It's nuts to charge as much as the base game for a DLC that just adds a map with some unique features tied to it.
As a survival first, PvP third player. I cant wait for this. Love exploring and fighting against the elements. I know TRMZ was crying about making fires and wants the soft skill of "frost resistance", but its not Namalsk. There is no frost bite to fear.
I wish they would do away with character migration though. Gonna be a lot of people starting on Cherno just to hop on Sakhall to have an edge and not deal with the cold.

For the people that are complaining about the lack of poi’s and geographical variations, you gotta remember how dayz devs operate. They’re allowing us to play the desolate version of the map to assure themselves that future content additions can be fully functional and optimized in accordance to the base map performance. I feel this map will be a fan favorite but In due time, survivors.

I absolutely love it, players are so friendly and helpful because we all realise the biggest enemy is the environment, the only fights I got into in 3 hours of game time is ones I instigated 10/10 would recommend and I’d say fish before even thinking about weapons
Stripping the original map of a ton of content and then bringing it to market in what feels like a half finished state is a strange choice. It is a very pretty map, but once that wears off there's not a whole lot to do currently. Most POI's are devoid of purpose other than looking pretty. We added boats, then stripped the islands of reasons to use the boats (lets go find some military containers for weapons that have no ammo on the map). Once people realize that the "end game" of the map can be reached in 15 minutes from spawn this map will turn into fully geared players camping out spawn towns because there's nothing else to do.
I would have bought this at $15 and hoped to see improvements down the road, at $27 i expect more.
For comparison, reforger is $3 more, and is an entire game (some would argue it's just a test bed for arma 4, but the amount of content you get is staggering).

@@kajmak64bit76 Did it come with lots of other stuff? There's only a small handul of new assets, the best of which are probably the two new apartment block buildings. There's a couple military garage assets added but they're not very interesting, just one open room. Snow covered trees are nice I guess. The ice axe was in the game years ago and they just decided to toss it back in for this. No new gun, a water bottle that filters water which is cool I guess but not really that intriguing.
The vast majority of the new assets aren't that interesting. New shitty fence, new pile of trash. Even the "new cranes" are just a rip from Arma Reforger (which has some amazing, intricate and detailed building assets I would love to see in DayZ but of course we're not getting those.)

Had my first run today and I liked it. As mostly a Namalsk player, it has a similar feel but with fresh places to explore. Can't wait for more modded servers to pop up to play with friends.

The DownBad server admins had a poll asking if we would like to keep the survival mechanics in their pvp modded version of the map, majority said yes. Im looking forward to this as a vanilla map, but hella excited to see how modders tweak things for their servers.
I will admit that i was salty about the whole Livonia thing and wasn't going to get this map. But after watching day 1 streams and realized that i was being unfair to the devs , I have added this DLC to my xbox wishlist.

My main issue with livonia is it's directionless. You just meander over the whole map to find the thinly spread mil gear. And there's no non-toxic military equivalent to NWAF. And please don't say bunker. Without a squad, the pickings there are slim.
No one was buying livonia, and the people that did buy it hardly played it. The DLC was out for years, if you didnt get your moneys worth in that time then its on you.

theres about 4 unique models on the map and all 4 you cant even interact with, not so much as even a door on the 400m submarine they stuck at one of the towns ports.

Namalsk was done in a free time and is available for free and it still feels more unique than Sakhal. This is crazy how Bohemia Interactive is wasting the DayZ potential. This is just a rushed small map in winter setting for console players, nothing more.

I'm personally not buying it at release. Maybe after a discount. I've decided to buy No More Room in Hell 2 (early access... But still) which is literally the same price... And it's a full ass game, not just a map (that's not even new, but a reworked version of an existing map). I'll definitely buy Sakhal in a year or two but Namalsk is already here and I'll stick to it for now.
I will most certainly buy it. Only thing that I dislike a little bit about it is the fact that they removed a good amount of landmass as I personally like maps that are a little bit larger but other than that, this update will be huge for me.
I'm buying this for the simple fact that there are modders out their rubbing their hands together for this one. I genuinely don't think I'll touch the official version. which is actually a sad thing. Solid video!

No but seriously 1) Vanilla isn't even hard because "new players join all the time" which means the game needs to be giving to some extent. 2) I don't do bases, and it's going to be crazy for bases. Everybody hides just counting their fishing hooks. 3) It'll be absolutely full of hackers and cheats (pc of course). As for 4) Modders will 100% improve the map, add more POI's and create better loot roots etc.

I’ve watched it on several streams since its release. And the bunker is the only thing that’s great about it, but that’s it. You don’t even need the “briefcase” since the items in it spawn in towns. Makes

And the Hot springs do nothing, but give you a heat buff.
The big area where there are White NBC zombies walking around has no gas zone. There’s NBC loot too, but no gas mask or filters.

I love DayZ, I am hyped for map, but I do wish they didn't redact so much landmass though, and in my opinion needs more points of interest to truly be a viable longevity alternative escape to Chernarus, even pales in comparison to Livonia in my humble opinion.

DayZ Standalone aka The Redheaded Step Child to Bohemia interactive, anyone that has been apart of the DayZ community since mod knows its just always been a funding tool for their Arma series games which now is Arma Reforger. Consoles players got cheated with this DLC namalsk is 100 times better then this map the progression with Sakhal is little to non its literally pointless with a bunch of empty pointless areas as well... like come on Bohemia 5 years of stright growth from 6k player base to a steady 65k+ and you gave us this bull crap...
If you want the full experience buy a pc. Dayz on consoles is like 10 percent of the game 🤣

Finally someone speaking honestly. Yes this wont be a pvp map and probably will get boring after you explore the map. Plus "easier time on spawn areas" means more people will not venture out and will just say in the starter area killing other nakeds :(
This will definitely be a PvP map with its smaller map size and ring road coast. If resources are more scare it also makes it even more pvp focused since killing you might get me the stuff I'm struggling to find. Shoot on sight always

Making the interior of the island harder to survive will make the PVP better when you do come across it, coming from someone who only plays dayz for the PVP
The server race to the bottom will begin on Day 1. They will mod everything unique out of it. And after one month it will just another n00b friendly KOS-fest with heavy metal poisoning removed, cold removed, custom wells added, 50 cals spawning on the coast and food everywhere.

You can always play on hardcore 1PP vanilla servers. Just like i do. I almost never play on modded servers because they take away from DayZ this awesome harsh survival experience.
So just don’t play on those servers then. It’s not hard is it. I don’t like heavily modded, I don’t play heavily modded. Some people do like that sort of thing and play on them. What’s the drama about there being choice ffs?

the devs fumbled this map. They reduced the size and got rid of the two huge islands that were on Tanoa. Why are the islands baron? At least put a small village on them or something. I feel bad for console players. They waited so long for new content, just to get a downgraded copy of a pre-existing map.

It's meant for survivalists, but if you can server hop a fully geared character from another map into Sakhal, then the PVP-ers will be happy as they skip all the challenge and hunt freshies.

@@prepareuranus8097 real Dayz is official though, its mental and unpredictable. Community is ok sometimes but I find them too comfy and too set up for streamers to gather footage with the same usual players always on the server. All seems a bit staged and fake to me.

1st is vanilla and vanilla+
2nd is PVP Focused
3rd is Base Building / PVE focused
People can't agree on which DayZ is the correct DayZ so they mod it to suit their needs
PvP focused adds PVP stuff.. more guns.. high tech guns... tanks.. even helicopters with guns
And the PvE focused DayZ added more and better base building and NPC missions and safe zones and traders
So really... community DayZ is the real DayZ

No rules, no squadmates visible on a magic radar, no bypassing death by respawning into a sleeping bag, and no admins teleporting in to stop you from "offline raiding". Players who change the core concept don't want dayz to be dayz, they want it to be Rust or PUBG or whatever
@@kajmak64bit76 I say official now because most Community servers have the admin tools loaded which allow people to effect the game if they wish without anyone knowing. This is open to abuse especially the servers ran primarily for big streamers to stage content. I agree though, playing on community servers which do not run the admin mods are far closer to official but there are very few of these. In this case, they can have other types of mods loaded in game. Server owners and their admins often like to involve themselves with the gameplay which I do not agree with. Pure Dayz must not have any mod where in game admins can affect game play as admin abuse is common.
Bohemia Interactive is becoming one of my favourite studio. They didn't half ass this dlc for a quick cash grab, the map design and easter eggs are so awesome. Makes the map really feel like a real place. Generally over the past year or so It has been so admiring that they worked so much on bugs and balance instead of pushing new content. Such a re-fresh after playing CS 2 and dealing with valve. Definetly buying frostline!!!
I hope the developers know just what a gem they have in DayZ and continue development for YEARS or possibly even a sequel

100% buying. Usually was into survival more than into PvP. Even tho we did a moderate ammounts of PvP with my friend, our preference is the survival focused gameplay. So definitely a good map for us.

What do you think about big cities? Did you experience as well some fps drops. Do you think that could be somehow changed or we will need simple put lower settings on quality?
I had my object view distance on high and terrain on extreme. Didn't notice any fps drops even when driving though them(3060Ti)
Its a nobrainer that 27eur for this map is absolute ripoff. Just taking tanoa, and changing things is almost copy and paste. Its nothing unique, how long are u guys gonna hype about those new ice sheets and new snowflakes ??? Anyone who has played decent amount of Tanoa would absolutely agree that whis map will die in couple weeks. Tanoa hype was even bigger than Sakhals hype and everyone who bought Tanoa remembers how it ended....A lot of people will say - yeah but i have spent so much hours on dayz so im willing to pay, or - Yeah but we got lots of good maps for free so thats why Sakhal is worth the money. That doesnt mean this map should cost 27eur. I understand that Bohemia needs income in order to keep working on Dayz, but if you copy paste old map that was dead in 2 weeks and just turn it to winter, its not going to work. Im not hating but just saying that if you guys in Bohemia want to acually still make money with this game, you should work on adding NEW and UNIQUE things in the game, copy paste and make the christmas tree white wont really do a trick.... Im not saying that map is bad either, it looks alright, but 27eur, no thanks, there are plenty nice free maps to play.

I played the Sakhal playtest from day 1 and I must admit - thanks to its harsh environment DayZ became a worthwhile singleplayer experience. It's really fun to roam around the new map, getting to know new places and admiring the beautiful views. For me, the environment is a bit too harsh for a PvP experience - your biggest fear on Sakhal is the low temperature - and pneumonia, which comes after you even if you have decent clothing, eventually. If you won't start fires regularly, search for tetra and vitamins, not forgetting about starvation and dehydration (which is another huge risk in early game) - you won't be needing other players to respawn on the coast. I think I'll let myself go with Cherno and Livonia for PvP, whilst Sakhal will be my first choice for the pure survival experience.
£26 for a new map with a few other audio ques, a couple of temperature changes and a altered way to enter a bunker. nope.

Now, you can still enjoy it on console, in a stable enough fps. Nothing wrong with console. To the other guy saying that PCs are expensive. Yes, they can be but you don't need a 4090, especially for DayZ. You can build a PC for cheaper and it will play DayZ just fine. Just fucking enjoy the game and shut up. I understand for PC players it’s probably not a big deal, they have everything console doesn’t. It’s comparing rich kids to poor kids. But for console players we don’t have a plethora of choices , having another choice to play is huge and I for one will buy it just to have a 3rd choice to a great classic. Now if we could get the console to update base building so we can have code locks and different door builds and roofs that would be the next great thing

I think the dev team wants it to be a hardcore survival map. (and it will probably be on console). But on PC I think for the most part it will be a PvP map. A large part of the community plays mostly on easy mode PvP servers where survival is more or less turned off, so they will probably mostly run around along the coast and kill new spawns. Until the new community server appears and makes everything easier. Even the majority of streamers and content creators who have already had access to the map have had a very difficult time with the simplest survival aspects.
BUT!!! As someone who has always focused on survival, I think it will be a lot of fun once you get away from the PvP players down by the coast. :)
bought it on day 2. it’s hard as shit. you’re gonna die on the coast a lot. fishing is key. fire is key. it’s essentially normal dayz but you HAVE to stand next to a fire for 10 minutes every 30 minutes.
