  • Ryobi Expand-It Blower Review! Today we are reviewing the Ryobi Expand-it Blower. It's an expander attachment for a Ryobi weed eater. I din't know if I was going to like it or not but it was amazing!! I'm looking forward to blowing my leaves this fall.

    Jump to 8 minutes to actually see the blower working. Talk before that.

    If you live in the north country where we get snow that makes a really handy way of getting rid of snow off the driveway and the sidewalk besides blowing leaves and grass

    With the power sweeper and the cyclone blower you are a one man cleanup team. Ryobi is the greatest pro budget brand I've ever used.

      Hot tip. Buy the electric power head. You're welcome.

    I bought the Ryobi 2-stroke head and weed whipper along with the Expand-It edger attachment last year, mainly for the edger. There is really only one other Expand-It accessory which interests me... this leaf blower. Your video convinced me. For $118 CDN it is less than half the price of a dedicated blower of equivalent power.

      Sweet! It has been perfect for cleaning up after mowing and other odd jobs. I have stopped sweeting the patio now! I hope you enjoy it.

    For my home I use the Expand-It battery powered system, also have their 40V lawnmower. Being as their 40V system is so very good and powerful I do not see any need for gas. It is surprising all the gardening tool manufactures are now pushing battery power. Less noise, zero gas fumes, zero end of year maintenance, and the like. RYOBI Expand-It is excellent, I much prefer their battery system. Many of my neighbors have switched from gas to battery lawn tools, not one regretted their move to battery. Their usual comment is “I should have done this years ago.”

      Ric Donato // yeah...I really thought about getting the battery stuff. Don’t know why i decided to go gas. That’s good to know they they still have great power. Plus, I bet the batter tech is only going to Kepler getting better.

    Is that blower a universal fit, so it can be used with other brands?

    For your question at 7:38 I believe because it’s a 2-Stroke engine the oil (ethanol shield) is necessary as that’s what lubricates the little engine as it runs. While you might not need that brand it’s still both in the manual and on the gas cap that the trimmer requires a 50:1 mix of gas and oil for it to properly work. Only time you wouldn’t need it is for the new 4-Cycle engines which I believe have their own dedicated oil sumps for use in lubricating. Thanks for the vid though. I have the trimmer attachment and would say it works fairly well on light brush just seem to have to keep it at full speed to get work done with it. I have been looking into this blower attachment though and probably will buy it soon. Do you feel it’s any more cumbersome than a traditional blower?

      @iandoingstuff  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for answering my question! To answer yours....I have never owned a traditional blower. Currently, for my needs, this is hitting the mark. It's really easy to store. It's easy to use. It pushes most all of my general yard stuff around. I have not used it thorough a Fall season...we will see how that works. If I needed more heavy lifting from a blower...I would be looking for something else.

    I did a search and it seems ethanol shield makes a 2 stroke oil. Any 2 stroke oil will do but if the gas will be sitting a while then it might be good to use. Ethanol in gas absorbs water from the air. And gas goes bad anyway. I bought the big evinrude 2 stroke marine oil. Much cheaper if you can measure it well enough. 76ml (2.6oz) per gallon. I round up to 80.

    Man I don't miss trying to crank over a gas powered trimmer. Watching you yank on that cord brought back terrible memories. Cordless is great because I pull the trigger and it works immediately.

  • @donnierodriguez4442
    @donnierodriguez4442 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    No the ethanol shield is not needed if using ethanol free gasoline. Just use a good 50:1 2 cycle oil

    How does it do with heavy amount of leaves in grass?

    • @iandoingstuff
      @iandoingstuff  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's ok...With being home more now, I've been doing more yard work. It was having some trouble with old wet leaves but it was working. It is great with blowing fresh cut grass and other stuff. If you have a bigger hard blowing job (giggle) ...you may want something else.

  • @guywholikescheese97
    @guywholikescheese97 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks a little unwieldy compared to a standalone blower. If you had a bigger yard would you get a standalone blower?

    • @iandoingstuff
      @iandoingstuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I needed to do serious blowing...a standalone blower would be best. But for yard clippings and some leaves, this is perfect.
