Watching this video is almost a mystical experience, calm voice, music, slow motion, very good, i like this form. The only minus here is the lack of samples.
I have had the ZOOM H4NPRO for several years. I use it to record the voices of birds. I plug in a shotgun microphone and it becomes a "very dangerous machine". It records sounds wonderfully. They are clean without noise or interference. The Samm ZOOM 4 also does the job perfectly.
I just ordered the zoom r4. No one is talking about it and I cannot find a single review that shows it in action. All i know is 32 bit float is good. I'll test the internal mic and report back.
A few years ago I bought the H4n and returned it the next day because of the noisy preamps. When you move up to the H5 you get a quieter preamp and even quieter for the H6 which I recently purchased and am happy with so far. .
Hey man, was this the H4N or the H4N Pro you picked up? I've been agonising over which recorder to get out of several options in my budget for days, but I can never figure if complaints about the noise floor are conflating these two. I think the latter is supposed to have the same preamps as the H5.
I’ve been kicking around getting the H8 because of the VRH-8. I have the H3VR but it depending on the size it would cut down on the size on my run around bag. Edit: I love the interchange capsules even with the limitations they might have.
@@christianskyes it definitely has its place as the least Versatile recorder they make, but also one that takes some of best sound based on what I’ve recorded. At least compared to other capsules. Definitely worth a look into it.
It has its pros and cons, the pros are that you can change the capsules, the cons are that you have another point where something can break or get lost. The real question is, do you really need to? Because at the end of the day I mean really, you just plug in a separated microphone which is always going to be better in specialist use cases, if you're going to connect higher quality microphones. Do you really need to? For the price, the Zoom H4n is one of the best microphones I've ever heard.
Hi! I’ve been watching your reviews about the h5, h4n before buying one myself! I’m just wondering what your thoughts are about using the h5 for live band recordings(rock indie etc), using the default internal mics. I feel like it would be pretty nice with the compressor and the -12db backup option. What do you think?
With the F3 you can forget about adjusting your recording levels. Just press REC and go. Then adjust the levels in post. I'd go for the F3, they might have better preamps. But it all depends on what you're doing with your sound though and the H5 might be just enough for your needs.
ALAS, the Dead Cat is not much of help if the wind is hitting the units BODY ❗😫 Keep in mind that ZOOM recorders are very sensitive to winds and your hands. It picks up even the slightest micro palm/fingers movement, when holding! Meaning: the TRIPOD is essential!

Please what shotgun microphone do you use?
You're actually incorrect on the lack of TRRS jacks. The XLR inputs are dual function, allowing you to insert 1/4" TRRS or TRS.
great camera, great voice, but where is the comprassion?
a very informative and envoyable vid... helped me to pull the trigger on H4n pro
Still here and very informative.
Still here and thank you.
Still here. I love your reviews: They’re packed with tons of good info, but at a pace I can handle😅
Well done for staying until the end 🎉 And I'm glad to hear that you like my reviews :)
Thanks for the info! STILL HERE!!👏👏👏👍
Glad I could help :D
Todavia acá!! Gracias!!!
Still here. Found the video looking for a recorder to capture a Merzbow gig that is likely to go into 115- 120db of volume.
This video was interesting, thank you very much!
Glad you liked it 👍

Good voice recorder, but my Zoom H4n-Pro power button is broken.
Although I rarely use it.
My H4n did exactly the same thing. Although these are great devices, it is now useless.

@@philekiert1251 Sorry I wasn't more precise. It was the H4N Pro.
@@djtommykeys Right, very interesting, time to take that one off the list. Thanks for getting back to me!
Is the H4N Pro the same as theH4n?
Great review - still here!
Do you have videos on software and how to clean up or enhance audio recordings? (Still here!)
I don't at the moment, but maybe I should make some 🤔
@@christianskyes, I'd definitely watch them! I have audio issues all the time, and I'm sure you'd answer some questions I have in your videos.
Very good review.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Still here. Gonna get myself a h5 second hand cause I saw both at a pawnshop
good job
quale scegliere ?
Which is better for record without wind noise at high speed on a motorcycle? Zoom h4n pro, h5 or h2n?
Stilllll here🎉 amazing content!
Congrats :) And thanks Alan 👍
I’ve been kicking around getting the H8 because of the VRH-8. I have the H3VR but it depending on the size it would cut down on the size on my run around bag.

The interchangeable capsules really do add so much value :) I also need to try the H3VR at some point 🤔

I'm not entirely sure, can someone explain the differences between this H5 and the Zoom F3? And which one is the better option?
With the F3 you can forget about adjusting your recording levels. Just press REC and go. Then adjust the levels in post. I'd go for the F3, they might have better preamps. But it all depends on what you're doing with your sound though and the H5 might be just enough for your needs.

Put the speed to 1.25 and it will be perfect :)
Have you ever tried the smaller zoom stuff for quick portable stuff you can always have on you
I'm wondering if the smaller Zoom AMS-22 produces more noise than the H5
Still here 🤓
