- Prong ring with mall cabochon - How to make jewelry from copper
With this method, you can use whatever cabochon you like.
You can use rounded stones, square, oval, heart ...
If the stone size is too large you should use a larger diameter wire to hold the stone
Can make fixed or adjustable size ring
With simple steps and simple tools, anyone can make their own accessories
You can change some details to create your own style
wire size to make ring diameter 1.5cm (can + a few centimeters to depreciate)
21 gauge ( wire diameter 0.7mm ) : 30cm( 12 inch)
28 gauge ( wire diameter 0.3mm ) : 100cm( 40 inch)
Stone diameter about 1 cm
TIPS :
Before doing, Always be sure to straighten the wire for a more beautiful product
Can use a towel to straighten the wire.
can use wire 20 gauge ( wire diameter 0.8mm ) or 19 gauge ( wire diameter 0.9mm ) with larger diameter stones
It is difficult to see the wrapping clearly, so wrap as you like
cutting slanted wire and squeezing to avoid scraping the skin
Ring size can be adjusted, more convenient to use
Can be replaced with silver wire or gold wire for jewelry more valuable
Or simply use cheap material like copper wire to make gifts for friends, family or for yourself
I just give way reference, not the best way. Can change size wire to suit your purpose. You can do better than me.

I used to round copper wire - magnet wire , it's the only kind I found where I lived for many sizes. I do not know exactly what type it was, can be dead soft copper wire, it have plating layer, and not dark by time

J'avais l'habitude de ronds de fil de cuivre - fil d'aimant, c'est le seul genre que j'ai trouvé où j'ai vécu pour beaucoup de tailles. Je ne sais pas exactement de quel type il s'agissait, peut être fil de cuivre mou mort, il a couche de placage, et pas sombre par le temps

I usually do the size that fits me, so that might be quite small compared to most people

I have bought a hundred+ small cabs in semiprecious gemstones of every shape and size! If you don't have any luck, let me know and I could email you some photos of mine you could choose from .. there's Turquoise, and Amethyst, and Onyx, Tiger-Eye, Opalite, etc etc, all in squares, rectangles, circles, ovals .. they'd look so pretty in these rings!! I bought them for beading bezels around them, but they are too small for that purpose, and I'm not really interested in learning this wire-art form .. but thought it was worth a look.

The small Cabs I have would be perfect for this project .. I just found some others in beautiful Green Aventurine and others in Carnelian, and I am sure there's others, if I remember all the ones I bought for bead-bezelling, but unfortunately the Cabs are too small for that purpose. They'd be absolutely perfect for this, though!! I'm in Australia but postage to anywhere in the world wouldn't cost much because it would be such a light package : ) If you're interested, please just let me know and I'm happy for you to contact me at my old email address, below. I will photograph them all with a ruler next to them so you can see exactly what size they are.
