Om gosh! You are an angel!!! Who knew my first ever sewing pair of pants and the pattern paper so confusing!! And i searched and found you!! I am so happy now!! Thank you for intelligent design!!
Thank you for this tutorial! I’ve been too intimidated to even try a pair of trousers, but this has truly helped! I will definitely make a practice fly first. Excellent explanations and visuals!!!
The circle is generally about 5/8" up from the bottom of the fly shield. You sew to the circle rather than to the bottom of the fly shield. Usually a pants pattern will have this spot marked.
Did I miss it? when sewing the second part of the zipper - how far away from the fold. I see half an inch down, but how far away from what will be the edge? thank you!
I appreciated this tutorial when I made seamworks Nolan pants. It was my first successful fly, and after many bed sheet trials and some funny looking fails, I made three nice pairs of pants. I have a question, though. On ready to wear pants the fly covers the zipper more. How do I get the zipper further under the fly so that the teeth of the zipper don't show at all?
Yay! Glad you found it helpful! A couple things could be happening. The pants could be too tight in the hips causing the fabric to pull, or maybe you could place the button farther over. It's hard to diagnose and offer advice without pictures so please send us an email at contact@seamwork.com, or post in the Seamwork community!

This the best tutorial that I have watched for this part of a pants project. It will take some practice for me to master it completely, though.

very nice presentation, but I have on Q: what is the circle? Sorry but I missed this part. Is it the bottom of the zipper tape?

Thank you so much.

Place it about 3/8" from the fold.

Seems like more steps than other tutorials.
It's a really good method, you should give it a try!
