Is it the campus, with its Golden Dome and Basilica rising above the quads? Or is it the powerful campus liturgies and sacred quiet of the Grotto?
Is it the intense commitment of faculty who ignite our students' learning? Or the thriving community in the dorms, where bonds are developed that link alumni for life? Is it the storied traditions of Fighting Irish athletics?
Or is it something more? Something that can only be described as the spirit of Notre Dame -- a distinctive combination of faith, academics, service, athletics, and community.
I went to ND. I stepped on the field about where Knute Rockne once stood. I looked up and asked "I know I am not suppose to ask for anythig for myself..but just this once, just this time..if you could see your way clear I would like the chance to coach High School football"...four days later I was called by the , then, head coach of Don Bosco HS in New Jersey and asked if I wanted to interview for a coaching job. I ended up coaching there for four years. ND is very special.
Man. The beginning of this always brings me to tears. Nothing compares to true pride. In God. In country. In Notre Dame.
It took 60 years to achieve the opportunity to ßee a he game. Lit a candle at the Grotto and pray for my parents who adored Notre Dame. They taught me how to love Irish football
I am a recent ND Graduate. I am glad that I went to Notre Dame. I had the option of going to other Ivy league schools, but in complete honesty, there is no other place like Notre Dame. I am not a Catholic, but the feeling and environment in University ( including Grotto and Basilica) brings so much peace, serenity and tranquillity to a person's mind and soul.. Our Lady of Notre Dame is definitely looking after her loved ones... Go Irish !!!
I assume everyone else watches this clip first thing in the morning on game days. Go Irish.
My father (may is memory be a blessing) never went to Notre Dame. He was born in Brooklyn & except for a few years during WWII, lived his entire life in Brooklyn. Yet, he was a huge Notre Dame fan. He was a member of the last generation of Irish fans, known as the NYC Subway Alumni of Notre Dame. I am his son & was raised as a Notre Dame fan from the time I was in my Mother's womb. I get goose pimples when I listen to this song. I know my father is smiling down from heaven. Let's Go Irish!

yeah im from Massachusetts,which is BC country, but I am a big ND fan. Went to ND-Navy game at ND stadium in 2005. I loved the experience and this song kicks ass!!!!! I am of irish background as well I guess that is how I a became a huge fan and well of course a major network like NBC.
I often wonder why so many have difficulty appreciating our love for Notre Dame, I think next time someone questions us, we will just play this song. Our hearts forever, love thee Notre Dame

Being a student there for four years was fantastic. I loved every minute. The feelings recapitulate time & again. In prayer, and in living everyday life.
I can face alot of danger & adversity because there is a community of believers called the University of Notre Dame du Lac.

The NCAA only requires Senior football players to have a 1.2 GPA. That's something below a D+ avg. Notre Dame requires a 2.0 (c) which is substantially harder than it sounds.

The first 30 seconds of this clip should be blasted from the PA system at every game as the Irish take the field. Likewise, the alma mater should be broadcast at the end of every game, win or lose.
Forgetting rivalries and other BS. This song alone could make me wish I'd gone to ND. It is beautiful and moving. Something about the purity of Irish music that can give you chills no matter what school or other BS you focus on. - (and I did not go to ND nor did my kids - USC, Stanford and Maryland, all)
