I love how people assume the FBI is this all knowing agency that has all the secrets & answers.
In reality, a lot of their cases are solved, not because of sophisticated police work, but from simple bad guy mistakes, or really low tech tactics like tapping a guy on the shoulder, yoinking his laptop while he’s distracted, & running away😂

Yeah right,, in St Louis there was a serial k*ller who targeted prostitutes and unalived probably 20 women,, and the moron taunted a newspaper with a map of where some victims were and the bastid even had a torture chamber in his basement BUT the cops FOUND THE WEBSITE where this bastid screenshotted the map,, twisted Google's arm and FOUND THE PRICK at his moms place where his computer was... so the cops do sometimes come up with the right idea and solve the case...

Either you or your friend is lying. Why would a scammer wate their time sending a fake package when they can just not send anything.Silkroad also used escrow; you release the payment once you receive the package.
Sending a fake package would hurt the vendor more than not sending anything. They can try to lie that the package just never arrived/was found by the customs until the payment is released automatically. A fake package would be a lot harder to explain.
