Andy, I bought a '15 Viking VI from auction in Georgia last month (I live in Florida) and when it arrived immediately overheated. Found the radiator fan not running and mechanically seized. I applied power to the side of the relay you explained and nothing. I replaced that fan and it would only run if I jumped out the relay like I had before. I replaced the relay and with the relay in, the ignition would not work. I would start the engine with nothing I the relay spot and then once running I would have insert a jumper to from the battery to the proper side of the relay section to allow the fan to operate. I then went and bought a new coolant temp sensor and installed. NOW - the ignition will work with the relay in but the fan still does not come on by itself. Am I looking at a ECU/M ? whatever they call it at Yamaha? I didn't actually wait for it to "overheat" and send a check engine...in your most recent video you said they run hot.....is it possible it still wasn't hot enough ? Radiator was very hot to the touch before I killed it.
Ok, I was unable to get the fan to spin when I ran a wire to the relay so I checked for 12 volts at the thermocouple. I don't have 12 volts there. You don't mention what to do when you don't have 12 volts missing going into that point?
If you don’t have 12 volts at the thermal fuse when applying power to the relay then there is a wire issue. I have the fix for that feel free to call me tomorrow at 1-270-246-0544
Andy, I placed power to the middle pin on the relay socket and my fan kicked on. I also swapped the relays around and the fuel pump kicked on. I know in the video you say if all that checks out it could be a temp sensor or ecm issue. What can I do to find out which one it is? I have had the sxs running for a period of time and the fan kicks on but only runs for about 20-30 seconds and kicks off. Basically what made me think there was something wrong with it is i was driving one day for about an hour and the temp light came on.
The only way to know would be to get it up to operating temperature and see if the ECM is grounding the relay. Give me a call tomorrow at 1-270-246-0544
What about my fan stays on even when i turn the bike completely off . I have to disconnect my battery for it to stop . Yesterday it turn on at like 155 and it wasn’t even hot out . Once it’s on it’s on .
Could be relay sticking and most likely that’s what it is with it being on with the key off. Feel free to contact me today at 1-270-246-0544 and I can walk you through it
@@MelloFAB_270 Yes. With key turned to on position it runs and when started, Never shuts off. Temp light lit and engine light on. Might have a couple things going on. All started after a night ride in the snow and getting the underneath packed with snow.

If could be temp sensor, relay, fuse, wiring, or thermal fuse. Any of those things would cause the fan plug not to have power. That why I done the video to test the different signals to see if they are there. Feel free to call me at 1-270-246-0544. My cooling fan control system resolves all and any of those problems.

Great Video, Thanks.
My fan will kick on sometimes but not fully spins slowly would that be the thermal Circuit breaker
Great video!

Well done
Thank you
Ok Thanks
My fan cuts on but it does want to stay on i have to spin the fan with my fingers to get it to cut back on sometimes it works and other times it won't
If you’re having to spin it by hand then it’s your fan going out.
I'm having the same issue it will cut on but won't stay running.. I replaced the relay but didn't help
If you’re spinning it by hand and it takes off running, then your fan motor is going out
I put 12v direct to the fan and it won't spin. I'm thinking the fan is bad.
Did you apply power to the relay socket like in the video or did you un plug the fan and apply direct power and ground?
@@MelloFAB_270 I wire in the fan direct to the battery and doesn't turn on.
@@marsbougie your fan is for sure bad
@@MelloFAB_270 I finally got the parts and fix it. Got new fan and it works now. Thanks
@@marsbougie glad the video helped with your diagnosis

How about if the fan runs continuous on my wolverine 700? engine light and temp light is on.
Even when the engine is cold, engine is off, and key is on?
