I enjoyed the video, it’s a throwback! I’ve left the industry now and I’m in tech but I’m tempted to come back as a PCN pharmacist or indeed as a community pharmacist. However I’d need to get my IP! What’s the landscape like now, do you think it’s worth coming back or staying and progressing in tech?
    Thank you!

Helloo thanks for the comment! It depends on what you’re after I’d personally say. (If it’s money then stay in tech HAHA)
If you’re missing the clinical aspect side of things PCN pharmacist is a great way to go. IP will be certainly be useful there. You can lead your own specialist clinic as a pharmacist too!
Community is good because you’re very exposed and up to date with the medicine supply and you know what’s out of stock/in short supply. Also the most informed person to obtain medicines/services is a community pharmacist.
This is a brief(🤣?) breakdown of the two sectors.
Currently the pharmacy education is changing: MPharm students graduating 2026 (I think) and qualifying from 2027 will be IPs as they have a prescribing module incorporated into their learning. I’m currently doing a part time (2 years) distant learning IP+clinical course with Cardiff uni to skill up!

Depending on where you intend to work there is quite a lot of funding opportunities for the IP course if you look! My course is covered ☺️ the typical IP course is 6 months

How do you like being a community pharmacy so far? I'll be starting my foundation training year this summer and I am quite nervous of how it will all go! Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated : )
