In 2010 a production company built this fortified Viking village in south east Iceland for a movie. But unfortunately after building they never ended up using it. Several Icelandic Turf style buildings and even a ship was left to the harsh and unpredictable elements this country experiences. But unlike most movie sets this place was built to last! Those mountains are beautiful, I've never seen any others like them. That place looks remote so the cement building was probably for the production crew.

We drank water from a stream on one of the glaciers near where we lived in AK once. Most of the city water in Juneau, Ak, was glacier water.

Not much wood for construction there. Likely had to truck it in by land or via water . Let's your mind wander...love those mountain slopes. Not much volcanic/seismic activity in that region maybe?

What month were you there? The sun doesn't get very high in the sky so far north, especially in the winter. I lived in AK at Latitude 58, and it never got totally dark in the summer and we only had about 5-6 hours of sunlight in the winter, but Iceland is like Latitude 63 to 66! Wow.

This village has been put to use in The Witcher Blood Origin, you see the village clearly in the very beginning.
