Such a beauty, and just to think that 2,000 years from now they will only find plastic bags and bottles buried underneath their feet, unfortunately that will be our legacy to the future generations. Thank you sir for taking your time to share these masterpieces.
But ours will stand the test of time a lot longer than iron lol
@@joeycognition8824 hahahaha you are 100% right on that one 😂😂
Id wish i was born 1200 years ago as a viking, i hate society nowadays.
@@topacybits3576 I'm with you, and it's not gonna get better, that's the sad part.
@@topacybits3576 I cant even begin to imagine how tough these people must have been.
When you first see that helmet it kind of takes your breath for a second. I think that for everything we know about them, there must be so much we will never know. So many stories about people that were never recorded. But the remains, the ornate swords, the spears and axes, I get a sense that they lived life in this world in a way that we modern only dream about. Surely our movies and shows and documentaries can only catch a glimpse of that past.
Viking cool viking strong but be a English man and you are dead did a viking say (maybe)
My thoughts exactly
Being able for all of us to see these awesome things is a blessing. So much culture and history involved. This guy Bjorn, a super great host as well.
Kind of sentimental for me. 👍 Even better with possitive people presant to enjoy this with✌️
What? No furry horned helmet? Hagar the Horrible would not approve.
There's something so surreal and beautiful about these artifacts. The amount of time and work that went into creating these masterpieces is amazing and it just goes to show how talented our ancestors were. It's a shame we will never get to know the full stories behind them, I bet they'd be better than most modern films nowadays. Thanks for sharing this wish us Bjorn, I feel privileged and am grateful. Till the next one :)
Thanks for bringing us along. I like the display. Reminiscent of an art gallery
VikingPreparedness, thank you.
Yes, wide open and very well lit.
@@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen I have watched many of your videos and am glad to finally see the truth and respect the Vikings and their descendents deserve. My ancestors come from Norway back to the Vikings on both sides of the family but I live in America. On the side of my mother they made it from Norway to the Scottish Highlands in Scotland and we are descendents of the Scottish Clan Cameron. On my grandfather's side we were given surnames to protect us as we came from Norway yet are Swiss in our name. Please stay away from the Catholics.
Verkligen en fin utställning. Ni har många intressanta fynd från vikingatid i Norge. Vikingaskeppen ni har hittat är kanske mest fascinerande.
When I see things like this, I can’t help but think someone along time ago touched these things with their hands and try and put myself there. Makes your mind run wild.
all remains of the viking peoples need to be respected. thanks for pointing that out about the skull. these are our ancestors. our blood. those who fought for us and their spirits live forever.
They are us.
@@WiseHodor he's talking dna wise. It's unlikely the bloodline has changed that much in 1000 years.
There’s no such thing as the “viking peoples”. Probably the most misused word in a historical context smh.
Is there a way to respectfully display things like that? I understand the need to respect the ancestor but at the same time, it’s incredibly interesting and it means that we don’t forget them. Otherwise they’d just be lost to time like everyone else.
@@WiseHodor that is wrong...dna will show the ethnically % of your ancestors and there is also traditions that you can trace back to that time....delusional thought belongs to religious and political people,,,,
Did anyone else feel the reverence and respect Bjorn had for the Viking woman warriors remains🙏
Agreed, the weaponry and artefacts are fine, but the final remains of a person should not be disturbed
Pictures are one thing, to go with sword, peace be with her
How can you not?
@@DankinTreezinCoffinBlazin it was heavy thick solemn yet hopeful

this gave me chills.thanks for sharing with us bjorn!
ChainMail, I am honoured to be sharing this.
This speaks to me on a level thats hard to explain or express. I can feel the history in my blood. Im in absolute awe of this....
I wish we could just go back in time and observe them from the pov of a fly.
Oh, my friend, you might've predicted the future.
Play skyrim😂
Join a reenactment group! You can become one and do combat or living history, it’s so fun.
Minecraft has a time travel thing lol
I saw some tweets from the archaeologist who started reassembling the Gjermundbu helm at the beginning of last year, since in its previous display it was put together incorrectly and missing a few pieces that had been miscategorized as parts of a pot. Glad to see they finished and it’s finally on display in its full glory.
That is why I love history! To see the things that people touched and wore so many centuries ago. What I really love are the wood and bone combs with animal carvings on them.
Thanks for the tour. I was in Oslo in the early 80's. This museum wasn't there at that time but the history is amazing.
I traveled to Norway September 2019, to visit the land of my ancestors. This museum was my favorite part of the whole trip. So thankful for my photos of the artifacts!
Amazing to be able to see these artifacts from the Viking age. Thank you Bjorn! It must of been a great feeling to see this in person.
There will always be a viking in all of us, amazing tour it was
Thank you Bjorn for the opportunity to view these items., Also, from my heart, thank you, thank you, for the feelings of respect for the lady. I have the same feelings as you for bodies ''dug up'' without thought . May she travel in peace. Skaal Bjorn, please take care
It just felt wrong, that’s all I can say...
@@BjornAndreasBull-Hansen do you have any links with bjorn the iron side
thanks for filming and uploading and especially thank you for showing respect for the dead.
WOW. This was incredible. Two things really made me amazed. The first thing was that we here watching your awesome channel got to see these things before most of the entire world. The second (and most important thing) was that you Bjorn, having been invited to this exclusive event chose to share this with us here. This is very humbling. Thank you very much for thinking about all of us and sharing this amazing (literally once in a lifetime opportunity!) exhibition. You are a GREAT person, both in words and deeds. Thank you!!!!!!
As a proud irish man our history from the celts to the Norwegian Vikings it is very special, good and bad , great video my friend. 👍🏻👍🏻❤❤
This is an amazing exhibit! A couple years ago a viking exhibit came to a local museum in Utah, and it was amazing to see. To learn more of his my ancestors lived and the culture surrounding them. I keep thinking i ought to book a flight to Oslo to see the museum, and this is convincing me. Thanks Bjørn!
Thank you for sharing that footage as without it I would never have seen such beautiful artifacts. The collection of artifacts looks very good and you are lucky to have them on display.
Cheers from Australia
Thanks for the tour Bjorn Lothbrok!
Who else is here after watching the show Vikings?
Great presentation Mr. Bjorn. I greatly appreciate your hard work and knowledge!
Thank you!
Wow, I am speechless, Thank you so so much for sharing .... You can still hear the sounds of the Battlefields...
BJORN !! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR SHARING THIS VIKING TOUR OF ARTIFACTS !! I ENJOYED SEEING THESE BEAUTIFUL INTRIGUING ITEMS....YES...WE MUST HONOR OUR ANCESTORS...
Thanks! Glad to see Norway is preserving this history.
Oh my Bjorn. This post is simply amazing. Thank you so much my friend.
Perfect display area. Leaving nothing except the exhibits to stand out or catch the eye.
Flawless narration and talent, Bjorn. Great job sir. 👍
Thank you. I have been following you for a while now. I enjoy your perspective and unique take away on life. I lived a viking mentality life with my husband, God rest his soul, for 27 years. We raised our boys to be men- chivalrous, well rounded and full of character. Again, thank you for your channel. I love the t-shirt.
Thank you, Renee!
Thank you for filming this.. Nice to see history come alive.
What an awesome exhibit! Thank you for taking the time to bring it to us in excellent quality, I appreciate your insights as well. Thanks and take care!
Thank you for sharing this awesome display of our history! I'm with you as far as displaying human remains, but her burial did raise those valid questions you had mentioned. I look forward to seeing more from you soon!
Thank you very much for showing these artifacts. It's amazing & a wonderful feeling that you can look at these and take your mind back over a 1000 years ago. Thanks again Bjorn
Beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Enjoyed this Bjorn Thanks so much for bringing us along! massive fan of Viking history and to see all these amazing pieces is incredible.
I think that since you are teaching and educating, you shouldn't feel conflicted about showing that person's remains. 127,000 people are remembering her because of you, i think if anything that would honor her.
Thank you for the video.
Thanks Bjorn for the tour, very nice museum and artifacts, appreciate you doing that for us.
Fascinating exhibit! Thank you for sharing, brother! Much respect to the fallen Viking and the artifacts we've been able to find.
Amazing stuff really good to see original artifacts so thank you very much for sharing
Rebekah-Chris S-K Glad you liked it!
This is awesome, thank you for sharing this beautiful collection with us. The craftsmanship and time they put into everything they did is inspiring.. Viking for life!!
Thank you. I am so grateful I found you here...
Thank you to the hard working people who put this display together 👍
Hello, and Greetings from Bulgaria! I'm really fascinated from a little kid from the Vikings stories and Sagas, my ancestors were also fears warriors, Respect for you.Thank you for this and the other clips,
Thank you for the tour....really interesting. I miss visiting displays & museums since Covid began. My last ever holiday abroad was in Norway 2004 & I felt very lucky to be able to go there. ☀️🌲
Incredibly powerful stuff there, thank you for showing us and thank you for also being respectful!
Breathtaking display. I wish there was more. Thank you for bringing it to us!
Thank you very much for sharing this amazing exhibit, broter. It is always awe inspiring to see artifacts from our ancestors. I hail them and may they look to us. Skål.
Thank you Bjørn for sharing this absolutely amazing display! Skål!
Bjorn, thanks for sharing and bringing us along !
Thank you Bjorn for your footage and your narration. I find these kinds of artefacts (and explanations given) absolutely fascinating. Greetings to you from Australia.
Great content. Very well done. The amount of time and craftsmanship involved in making that mail shirt is astounding.
Fascinating and humbling. Our ancestors were remarkable.
Thanks!
Thank you for spreading the information. It is important we know about our forfathers, and you bring this knowledge to the people. As you once said yourself: We're never truly alone as we are our ancestors' blood and bones.
Wow! Amazing exhibit. Thank you for sharing. 💪👍
Very interesting thanks for the tour.... yes ladies do like their bling
Amazing! I lived in Kiel Germany for a summer for a study abroad program and we got to go to Haithabu for a day and it will always be one of my favorite experiences from Europe
Wonderful video. Thank you very much. My ancestry is Scot, Irish and Scandinavian, so I find this every interesting. -Ray, Colorado, USA.
Thanks for the video, super that these artifacts are still intact. They sure bring up many questions. Fantastic displays ! !
Thank you for sharing this. It is interesting to see artifacts from a culture that has had so much influence on history.
At 1:34 I see a puncture hole consistent with a flat blade arrow head but could also be from overly avid trowel use by modern excavators. However the vertical breech of the helmet is consistent with right hand dominant axe blow. And the surrounding metal decay would support historic damage.
The sword that was bent into a spiral may have been symbolic of “Life”. The spiral is a powerful symbol of Life in the Celtic culture. The Celtic culture shares a lot with and may have borrowed from Norse culture. Great video. Very interesting exhibit.
Shame how iron weapons and armor just get absolutely obliterated by time.
Yup, oxygen loves reacting with many elements/compunds. It would be far more unfortunate for us if oxygen didn't react with iron since our very blood depends on it
It is a shame. But at the same time, what’s left offers us a very good look into the past.
But imagine being a blacksmith 1000 years ago and still have your stuff going around, not for the intended purpose but because your stuff was well made and looked after.
like our faces XD
Steel weapons actually
Not iron
Thank You Bjørn and much RESPECT‼️
Very interesting display, I love the Viking culture as my grandfather traced our family line back to the Vikings. Hope to see more as I have subscribed!
Great video. The female warrior’s skull was a sad one indeed. They should’ve left her in the ground. Thanks for showing us the beautiful artifacts. You’re so lucky to have seen them in person. Sending you love from Texas.
Wonderful thank you for sharing, my grandparents were from Sweden & I feel so disconnected over here in the states. Loved seeing every piece ❤️
What i wouldnt give to be able to see the way the world was back then, the people, buildings, how they worked and lived. And to talk to them, understand how they viewed the world. These were incredibly well preserved.
I always respect my Viking heritage and all who died, thanks for the tour.
Well done, man. This is one of the best channels on youtube.
Interesting, my grand father's parents both immigrated from Sweden to America in the 1890's. We have only been able to trace this part of our family tree back to the early 1700's, but it's likely I have Viking ancestors.
Amazing! Thanks for the tour. Greetings from México 🇲🇽
Fantastic. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to seeing these treasures with my own eyes one day.
Man your people have amazing culture ! You can be realy proud and I think your ancestors coul be also proud of you ! Greetings from Slovakia, with Slavic heritage.
Thank you for this gem of a video! What a trip we have taken:) when my father died I offered my old enactment sword into the sea here. If it ever washes up, it's not ancient so put it back hah
That was magnificent!! I know my name doesn't show it but those are my ancestors also. It is my dream to visit and explore all the different places in the northlands. They were fierce and amazing people! I am proud as hell to have viking blood in my veins!!
What a great part of history. Thanks
You realize; I've now still only seen it in pictures! Lol! Thanks Bjorn! Very nice of you to include us........
Is very hard to pin point a Viking object bc most objects are from all the land that they conquered Greek roman English African etc.
The love decorative wood spoon is about the known Icelandic Nordic object and the Viking gold chain.
Bjorn, thank you for this introduction to the fascinating exhibition.
Very cool exhibition and tour. Thanks for sharing this Bjorn!
Amazing to see these things. Thank you for including us.
Some of the worlds greatest and most widespread groups of formidable warriors and amazing explorers, the Vikings were such a force of change across the continents, it would be absolutely fascinating to behold any artifacts from their time, from tools of war and nautical tradition to farming implements and household goods - I'm hoping one day I can see some of these things in person.
And the stunning artwork across their years, how could I forget to mention - amazing metalwork and more.
That’s a great museum. It’s near a couple more awesome museums as well. Perhaps Bjorn can give us a tour through the Folksmuseum some day?
This was amazing to see thank you so much for sharing this. Just thinking of the life that woman may have lived is awe inspiring. I am sure she was a great person loved by her family and comrades.
When the handle of a sword seems short i think it was because the pommel would fit in the hand. That way you have more reach with the weapon. Roland Warzecha has some videos about it. Thank you for the amazing video.
Wow!!! That’s amazing!!! Wanna visit this exposition!! Watching Vikings and loving so much!! 🤩
I wish they had this around where I live. Great video and commentary
This was a great video. Thank you for sharing this with us,i know that I would never have been able to see and appreciate this history if you hadn't made this video.
Fantastic video, i was in awe while looking at the relics and felt like i was standing right there. I don't know if that was background music or some you had chosen yourself, it just took it to another level and added more to the experience. Thanks Bjorn.
Viking Fidget spinners 7:46 😂😂
I was looking for this coment 😂
Many THANKS Mr. Hanson........more than words can express
Thank you for the tour! Much enjoyed!
Wow! That’s so amazing! Thank you for sharing!
This video goes straight into my heart head and soul... !!!
this is awesome...went to see"Vikings: Beyond the Legend"on loan from the National Museum of Denmark..here in Edmonton Alberta Canada, "Vikings: Beyond the Legend is the largest touring exhibition of Viking artifacts in the world. It's an immersive experience surrounding 650 artifacts ranging from exotic jewels to three Viking warships, including the 37-metre Roskilde 6, the longest Viking warship ever found, featuring approximately 1,000 year-old wooden planks and metal supports showing the ship's original lines. Striking multimedia and 11 interactive stations bring this historic exhibition to life.
Seriously? I'm in Calgary... I would have driven up for that.
Till Valhalla ⚔️
My grandfather “Howl” always told me of his lost heritage . He was 6 foot 7 , 290lbs.
I get the hand cramps from him I guess …
Thankyou for this beautiful video brother .
Hand cramps please explain,i have them to specialy in Winters
Well done Bjorn! 👍
Very interesting displays. Lots of history in those artifacts. Museums are great places to visit and feel connected to your ancestors.
🍻
Thank you for sharing what most will never have the opportunity to see in person.
