    You can enable USB Streaming without needing to reconnect the usb cable each time. By default, when connecting the camera to a computer via USB, the camera will act as a Mass storage device. You can disable this by navigating to Network (from the menu) and on view 1/2 select PC Remote Function. In here, ensure PC Remote is "On" and PC Remote Cnct Method is "USB". That's it! If you've configured a custom key for USB Streaming, when you want to use the camera for streaming/webcam/etc all you need to do is turn it on and click the custom key. As long as the USB cable is connected; it'll work seamlessly and you want need to check the menu or disconnect and reconnect a cabler each time :)

      Yeah ! Great Help. But you have also to make sure, that smart phone connection is off, otherwise the pc remote can not be activated, because its already reserved for smart phone. Fortunately I found this . Why can Sony not just detect a PC via USB once you are in the streaming mode. Cumbersome.

      Here's another way: if you like the camera acting as a mass storage when you connect it, you can still turn on streaming mode. You just need to hit the custom key immediately after turning on the camera. It will override the mass storage setting. And you're good to go :)

    Thanks a lot for the review. I was going to buy this camera mostly to use it as a nice webcam. I can't believe that other reviewers didn't mention things like having to enable the usb streaming mode every time or that its usb port is facing the same side the screen goes to in a 'selfie mode'.

    Hello, I would like to know if using a capture device I can give power to the camera through the USB C cable or in this case do I need to buy a dummy battery?

    My solution for the USB problem is that I use a short USB-C (male-male) that is plugged into the camera permanently. This allows me not to have to ruin the camera's USB C port over time. I use an additional USB-C male-to-female extension cord (from UGREEN) that I keep permanently plugged into my docking. I unplug where the extension female meets the cable coming from the camera. This way also there is less chance that I move a nicely positioned camera. Worth a try ;) Unless there is a better solution already :)

    You can go into the options menu and change the overheat function to high, and this will allow the camera to function longer and the camera will handle the heat better. This and the Sony ZV-E1 get a bad rap because people do not know to change this setting on the camera for long use.

    I think they have fixed the “have to reconnect the USB cable every time” problem. I don't have to do it. I just power on, press the USB Stream button, and I am ready to go.

    Did you record this video with $30 Capture card??

  • @JohnJordache
    @JohnJordache 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The ZV-E10 USB streaming’s real problem is not necessarily the annoying activation of it on each time you wish to stream, but actually the real problem is the resolution limits which is: 720p ONLY 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
    So you do need a capture card if you want your stream to have some quality… still can’t understand why Sony can’t fix it in the camera software so that we can stream at least… let me repeat that : AT LEAST 1080p… since its a 4K enabled device 😑😤

    • @ArronPrescott
      @ArronPrescott  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree the 720p cap is frustrating. I'm holding out the slim hope that we'll get 1080p in a firmware update. Untill then if you want 1080p or 4k you'll still need a capture card.

    • @PopularWebz

      1080p UVC webcam is possible with the A7S IV. It's extremely unlikely they will add it in an entry-level model. So to answer your question, it's a question of sales more than technical capability. But a high-bitrate 720p web conference will look better than a low-bitrate 1080p one.

    • @Devastatin777
      @Devastatin777 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cap is due to bandwidth and shielding issues with USB. You can only send so much data before it can cause problems. The best way to have your userbase not complain is to not give them the option. A camera to usb to pc interface would require better equipment than is standard on the market. The easiest way to enforce the better equipment is to have an interface that is designed to send video (See HDMI). In short, just buy a capture card you're experience WILL be much better.
