    I have the same plasma cutter. Definitely not an all day machine but it has saved me more than once. Takes a beating too, I have tripped the duty cycle multiple times. Make sure it is getting the full 220/240 or it won't stay lit running off an engine drive like that. Great repair as always.

    On a small job like this I thought you would of went with stick, instead of dragging a bottle around. Either way ,good job thanks for sharing !!

    • @jdbrewer6638
      @jdbrewer6638  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      StonehurstKnives the bottle ways less than the machine. The whole job took less than 2 hours. Stick would have worked but mig is just so much faster especially when the welding portion was so small

    Question : is that outershield 71m your go to? I've never ran any dual shield but been thinking about picking some up and give it a try. Im assuming you run knurled rollers on your little lincoln with the dual shield?

    • @jdbrewer6638
      @jdbrewer6638  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Willow it's the only dsfc that I can get in the small spools... on the larger machines I use Ultracore

    • @jdbrewer6638
      @jdbrewer6638  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes yo the knurled rollers

      Hello with the 71-M what gas are you using?? I’ve been dying to try the dual shield..... I called every welding supplier and nothing here in Toronto...... Pretty much everyone I talk to once I mentioned dual shield.... they responded like I was growing horns or something.... finally I found one supplier who knew exactly what was going on with the dual shield and mentioned he had one roll of ESAB...... I rushed to get the one roll....... got it on the machine and started to weld full of porosity made in this changes in settings could not figure it out finally after googling for half an hour I found the instructions to what is Esab 810X -N1 Turns out it requires 100% CO2 not 75/25 or 90/10..... I will pick up a bottle of CO2 however aside from the porosity which I’m hoping the proper gas will fix.... I have to say I’ve never seen a wider bead or as much penetration in one pass....... typically it would take two or three passes to achieve what one past it I was amazed!! I guess Long story short anyone who is picking up some Dual shield, make certain that you check out the required gas before you purchase! Esab Manufactures a 7 series wire which I believe runs on 75/25 or 90/10.

    • @jdbrewer6638
      @jdbrewer6638  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kenmorewhisperbelt yeah, all I've ever had to use was 75/25 gas.... hope it works out for you

    • @kenmorewhisperbelt
      @kenmorewhisperbelt 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      JD Brewer it’s kind of funny but since I saw a couple of your videos and heard you talk about the dual shield I’ve been on the hunt for it I’ve talk to countless welders and no one seems to know what I’m talking about as I mentioned the only dual shield I could find was the Esab .45 I am a steamfitter mostly working on boiler rooms in apartment buildings, Churches and larger industrial, commercial structures...... Even with the 75/25 I cannot believe how it burns in and how wide the pass is... as mentioned it’s .45 But the bead is 3/8”-1/2” wide. I have an older Miller mig machine but just purchased a Everlast 253 DPI (synergic, single, double pulse) mig machine.... and still learning its functions but when I put the dual shield in there on double pulse..... I would feel comfortable Welding a battleship together with just one pass... I hit 2 pieces of 3/8” beveled plate with the Esab .45 dual shield at 160 amps one pass And the result looks like I put a bead on the backside as well???? I cannot believe the penetration
