James clear in his famous book atomic habits notes that sometimes, not always, genes matter, which give a competitive advantage. He has illustrated the concept using examples of Michael Phelps, a celebrated Olympic medallist, and guerejjii, who is a highly regarded marathoner, and how they both had torsal and limbic structures which were most advantageously suitable for respective sports. Hardwork, however, can triumph over talent (eg: Cristiano Ronaldo, a football legend, widely regarded as hardworking as opposed to Lionel messi who is born talent.
