Leven is a special place as you know Davie.Loved the mix of brown and rainbows in Leven. The loch could be so much better with better management.Tightlines Davie
I really enjoyed doing this as I want to Promote Loch Leven and Also my Guiding Service for there and other venues, but also provide instructional videos, now you can see real time how to fish the humungus properly showing the retrieve in real time will help many people understand the action you can get in the flies.
Thanks for posting Dave. I was fighting that nice fish with you, and jumped when it came off. As a local Kinross resident. I have fished the Loch since I was a wee boy. And remember the hay days on the Loch. Miss it now as I have health problems at 85. Your utube clips bring the joy back. .
There will be , we are working on doing longer ones almost like Tv Shows , the schedule is being discussed just now but wont be overnight lol as the plans need to be done correctly to make them even better, now my little brother understands what he needs more.

Thanks Rab, I got pulled up on Corrib for fishing them years ago lol, when the Irish team were out practising and catching nowt in a flat calm in a bright sunshine, I was smashing 3lb+ fish all day lol. Patsy was standing on the pier waiting on me :)
Hi David, just come across your video which I found most interesting. My better half reigns from the Kingdom of Fife, but I digress. My Grandfather was what was once known as a gentleman's gentleman and back in the 1920's his employer and he would often spend many months in Scotland, fishing mostly for Salmon but the BOSS enjoyed his forays onto Loch Leven. My grandfather used to refer to it as the glass bottomed loch. That was because they would always take a few bottles of whisky out with them on a days fishing [mostly for the Ghillie mind you] and once they were empty over the side they went.
Cracking video Davie, especially liked the karate chop to the seat! 🤣. Will definitely need to fish Loch leven considering it’s so close to me now and I have never been!
@@TheDavedownie yea mate that would be good for sure, it’s been such a long time since I been anywhere near my old fishing grounds. One day the planets will align and my family will give me a break 😜🤣
Superb video mate. I could literally feel the connection you have with the place, and that’s what it’s all about. Unlucky on not getting to see that big fish, but it doesn’t matter, as you say it’s just a pleasure to be out there. Look forward to the next one.
Ended up here from a Lindsay Simpson vid, amazed at how many very simple things you explain in the fly tying videos that are going to make a massive difference in my tying. Really ignited my interest again. This is a cracking video aswell and such easy watching. Thanks for what you do. 🎣
Enjoyed that. Wished Id fished it when I lived there. Used to fish Cobbinshaw and Hillend( Forestfied) . Those were my locals. Now in Aus. Shouldve been in Tassie this week, but Covid and a buggered shoulder put payed to that. Tight lines
Yeh you missed the big one out matey :) but you can always have a go if you come back. Say hello to Martin Droz if you see him down in Tazzie and Chris Bassano ) Get Better Soon
Just stumbled across your channel and absolutely loving it! I'm up at menteith on Wednesday and will have a go with the humungus now that I've seen some of your videos! Keep up the great work! 👍🎣
Thansk for that and pass it on to your fishing buddys, no nonsense here all stuff that works :) gl on mentieth never had the Humungus do much up there but then again I usually fish international rules there and mostly boobies and the double decker :)
Nice video Davie. I'm sure the big brownie would have been returned anyway. I was over at Loch Leven a couple of months ago at the boat house hoping to find out about the fishing since its been about 30 years since I fished it last but everything was shut and there were no boats out in the loch sadly. Hope it is open next year. Thanks for the tips. 👍👏🎣
Good video sir it's a loch on my list for next year never fished it fished watten good few years ago it was something else didn't get any big ones about 2 pounds biggest was biggest the clyde is my favourite river had some cracking days on that

Great video Dave. I love loch Leven. Very rewarding loch but those trout test every aspect of a mans capability. I felt the pain of losing that big fish....but great video. I hope to see more. Thanks for sharing👏

I don't feel too bad now, I have fished the Loch four times and blanked. Ewan Clark keeps promising me that he will take me out on the Loch, and to teach me how to fish buzzers. Well that is one for the bucket list for next year. Or maybe you know of some one willing to take out an old duffer and teach him the ropes? Tight lines and a great video.

Thanks matey for that , jealousy is always there and the haters will always be there :) Just Fishing but i will ignore them and continue to provide videos for you guys
Davie, Really enjoyed it. Thank you. If you were fishing a stillwater that has Rainbows in it also (perhaps a higher % than Browns), would you use the same retrieve with those flies, or something different? Cheers,
@@TheDavedownie Interestting. I expected to see you change up your retrieves, try different speeds, mix in some short pulls and stops, etc. Trying to find what the fish wanted. But, you stayed consistent with that long and quick pull. So, that is the retrieve you find most effective when fishing the Humongus? Thx. Cheers,
Interesting vid. I thought that brown trout responded better to traditional wets. Do these lure tactics translate to other lochs? I’ve only been fly fishing a few years and I’m in Edinburgh so I need to try some lochs including leven soon. Unlucky. That is why I never play a fish by hand unless it is obviously a small one and always wind the loose line onto the reel as soon as I can.
I should have got it on the reel lol, but the fly line was tangled so kind makes it hard :)
Keep your line on the reel not on the floor
