I hope You enjoy the video!
I’m always impressed with your gardening skills.
Thank You very much ☺🌱
I have a large garden but I still grow a significant amount of vegetables in pots as I find it easier to manage problems. Your videos re enforce what I do and double the pleasure that growing in pots brings.
Hello. The same scenario over here - garden and containers 🙂
Thank You very much for Your kind words! I am very happy You like the content ☺
Happy gardening 🍀🌱
Hi - which country are you in (in UK here) and what did you add those cardboard collars around the plants' bases for please - was it to keep moisture in the soil or to prevent bugs? Advice help welcome 🙂@@Liap
@@oliviastar3812 Hello. I live in Slovakia. Those cardboard collars are used to prevent cabbage rootfly eggs from hatching. Cabbage maggots can be quite an issue over here.
Fantastic, I am also starting a food garden in mostly containers, bless your garden.
@@Yahlove578 That's amazing! Happy gardening 🍀🌱
Wow! I didn't realize the growing season was so long for cauliflower! Love your technique, thanks
Hello! This is early variety, there are late varieties which take a month longer to grow and form a head.
Thank You very much 😊🍀
I'm growing cauliflower for the first time this year and I found your video so helpful. I love the clothespin idea.
Thank You very much! I am happy You find the video helpful ☺🍀 What variety are You growing?
That's great 😊
Just planted some seeds today(mid autumn). Ive grown many vegetables to variable success, hope this will treat me to some healthy veg in a few months
That sounds great! I am sure it will! Happy gardening 🌱🍀
Absolutely fascinating! They grew beautifully 😍🥰
They sure did 👍🌱

Beautiful!
Thank You 😊
Very nicely done bravo 👏
Thank You very much ☺🍀
WOWZERS ❤
🌱😊🍀
Those are beautiful! I loved the music also, so peaceful. Have you ever tried eating the leaves? I have grown collards and cabbage with good success. Another you tuber ate broccoli leaves, so I wondered about making two meals from one plant.
Hello. Yes I did. The younger ones are good and can be used the same way as kale. But I find the older ones rather tough and not very tasty. They are edible though.
Thank You very much, I am happy You like the video ☺🍀
I enjoyed every minute of this video , thank you . Since it’s February now When is it best to plant my cauliflower seeds
Hello. That depends on Your location, for example I start early varieties in late February to mid March for June harvest and late varieties in June for autumn harvest. Where do You live?
Thank You very much, I am so happy You like the video! ☺🍀
@@Liap oh okay , I’m in Maryland
@@angeebrown1924 The area differs so much from one place to another according to map. We have last frost date mid May and first frost date mid October.
Cauliflowers are best grown in cool weather. They don't grow well when it hot.
I luv when they thin out and grow somewhere strange, LOL
I like watching the planting to harvest videos - thanks for sharing. Can I ask what the purpose of the 'collars' are for?
Hello. They prevent root fly eggs from hatching.
Thank You very much ☺️🍀
I don't know how i missed this video. Always a pleasure watchin your vids. Do you spray it at all? I ONLY use neem oil and a drop of organic soap, if i see the need, As i have a problem with leaf miner and whiteflies😒BUt I try as hard as possible to avoid using pesticides.
I grew these under row covers, but the ones grown in the garden were not covered, so I used neem oil there when I spotted first whiteflies.
Thank You so so much, I am glad You enjoy these videos! ☺🌱
Util si interesant 👍👍. Le-ai tinut intr-un loc umbros? ❤❤❤
Buna ziua. Nu, erau în plin soare. Singura umbră pe care o aveau era în jurul prânzului timp de 2-3 ore.
Mulțumesc foarte mult ☺🍀 (translator)
Great videos.
Will those cut stems start to re-grow leaves?
Hello. That doesn’t happen very often, but yes, sometimes they start to grow some side shoots after harvesting the crown, but it is unusual.
Thank You very much! ☺️🍀
Can you eat the 🍃 leaves
Your videos are exquisite. How do you know when to pin the plants?
When the curd is abou 5-10cm (2-4") in diameter. Basically as soon as it starts to push out those inner leaves out.
Thank You very much! I am happy You like the videos! ☺🍀
Hi do u start them of in unheated greenhouse I’m in uk new to ya channel
Hello. Yes I started them in unheated greenhouse in March.
Dobrý den, ahoj. Překrývali jste to záclonou nebo něčím proti běláskům? Minulý rok mi opt sežrali všechny kadeřávky. Také pěstuji v nádobách. Nechápu, jak se vám to povedlo. Díky.
Dobry deň, ahoj. Áno boli prekryté bielou netkanou textíliou 17g. Tie, čo boli pestované v zemi prekryté neboli, tam som použil bio postrek Bacillus thuringiensis.
Je niečo konkrétne, čomu nerozumiete?
Perfektní. Díky za radu. Myslel jsem si to. Ať se vám daří, jste skvělí zahradníci!@@Liap
@@user-md7fi3uu9q ďakujem veľmi pekne ☺️ nech sa darí, všetko dobré prajem 🍀
How do you avoid the slugs and other bugs on the ones grown in the garden?
For pests I used neem oil. Well and for slugs, I try to prune bottom leaves that would touch the ground, and they always go for lettuce first anyway 🐌 But pruning bottom leaves really makes a difference.
What is the purpose of the cardboard you place around the stem of the seedlings please?
Those cardboard cabbage collars are used to prevent cabbage rootfly eggs from hatching. Cabbage maggots can be quite an issue over here.
Can I use something other then bone meal?
Hello. It is not a must. The most important is good quality’s compost. I like to add some wood ash, coffee grounds and/or bone meal (when I have some) because I am reusing the soil. You can easily use manure or balanced organic fertilizer.
Are the leaves edible too?
No
Well, You can eat young leaves around the curd, even raw in salad. But even though bigger leaves are still edible, they are rather tough and not of the best taste.
Yes they are edible. Do a quick internet search and you’ll find plenty of recipes.
Can i buy seeds , from srilanka
What country and climate are you in plz?
I live in Slovakia. Zone 6.
Have you ever tried growing Japanese sweet potatoes in a pot? They’re over three dollars a pound 😩😩😩
Hello, I am not sure what is the name of this Japanese sweet potatoes? I grew purple ones, pink skin white inside and orange ones. I was only able to get these three varieties so far.
@@LiapI think the name is Murasaki
@@purityandplants The "pink skin white inside" are Murasaki. The best of these three varieties I've grown so far. I am already having them on soil and some are already growing first shoots.
I do have a content for video of growing these in open garden, but it is going to take me quite some time to get to editing it.
Murasaki are more resistant to weather changes and drought. I am sure You will have success with them
