I just started playing Tekken and chose Steve as my main because I just feel connected to his style. Then I found out he’s one of the most difficult characters to master lol
Don’t let it discourage you, challenge is fun and if you become decent at the character without switching you’re not even gonna know what an “easy” character feels like by comparison. =) I started out with Yoshimitsu and today have Heihachi as a sub, both notoriously difficult, and not once have I considered switching for that reason
Ive been playing steve for a year ang im still not consistent with his fully optimize combos
I started with him in Tag 2 which is worse and now I don’t regret it at all.

Ruler ranks was the most frustrating to rank up. One match was a shitty flowchart spammer and the next player was a TGO playing a sub. At least prowess gives everything away so you know what to expect.

I don't have a lot of time to play tekken but, I always try to when I have time. After the rank reset I have found it quite a lot more difficult to get back to where I was. People on ranked now a days are usually really strong. Its rare I run into someone I can just blow up.
The top half of the ranked leaderboards aren't populated enough to dilute the TGO mains dominating everyone. Its not the competitive players fault ofc but its dumb that the devs don't recognise that by letting the most experienced players wail on maybe 25%-40%(?) of the playerbase, it becomes a system where everyone is punching down and nobody outside of that almost exclusive TGO club or beginner ranks is having a fun and educational experience thanks to a really steep learning curve demanding even more from them in the form of players at the top of that curve already.
You'd think they would have realised quite early on that its best to keep high level players at very high ranks. Yeah that would dilute the feeling of achievement of getting a 2nd+ TGO if it only takes a couple of ranks, but thats better than having a high level player feel more fulfilled ranking to TGO at the expense of the more veteran/experienced players being demoted by them, causing an avalanche of rqnk stagnation.

Hey TMM, awesome video. You mentioned that you dislike the fact that ranked is character based in T7, but I actually love it.
It gives me an opportunity to learn new characters in an environment that won't just fuck my general rank. It also feels cool saying "I've gotten 3 characters to Mighty Ruler".
I think some kind of middle ground would be cool. Where as you get better, it gives you a minimum rank that your characters can never be behind, but it still lets you level up the individual characters from that base rank. (E.g. My profile is considered Yaksa, so any new character I start will be at Yaksa, but then I still level it up individually to higher ranks)
What mainman said about the rank distribution I totaly feel, Reached Mighty Ruler and it's killers only. But one rank below It already feels even again.
I am always struggling to keep blue ranks and drop back to ruler ranks, playing against people with like 400k prowess playing secondaries its crazy

Ik the system was never great but at this point I think it has more yo do with the game being out so long IMO.
Man i can only dream of blue ranks, i struggle to stay in fricking yellow ranks 😅 and nowdays half of green/yellow ranks are just red ranks playing their secondaries.

everytime i see the shiro combo, i imagine the concept of leroy but every punch string you basicly need to do every input quickly. I think it would make him extremelly harder to use and be unique
I had always wondered why they made the Omega rank introduction also set your other characters back down to Ruler rank.. I remember the day that update came out and I was bitching about why my Gigas got demoted so far down until I realized EVERYONE got demoted lol
I remember just a year ago, having my highest character, Kazuya at Fujin put me in the top 6k playes on PC ranked. Then a few days ago before my data corrupted, he was at yaksa and wasnt even in top 10k. Ranked has gotten so sweaty.

@@daxia0 If you play the game like it's your job, and you're a natural, you could probably get close to this level (especially w/ all the knowledge out there nowadays). It'd be quite difficult, but I appreciate their resolve.

It might suck getting bodied as a legit Mighty Ruler and I might feel that way when I get there. However playing Lei the lower ranks are a bit frustrating as I struggle to play mind games with the opponent.
You're building these horrible habits of going for lows 90% of the time because people just stand block. More often than not going for a mid results in me mixing myself up. I'm looking forward to getting my bullshit checked so I can actually develop proper strategy.

Steve has been a main of mine since Tekken 4 along with hwoworang probably butchered the spelling. But I've been stuck on fujin rank with Steve, hoping I can learn some new setups and mixups so I can rank up and get better

I think Every character should be like fujin, but I’m glad in ruler ranks we only take like 500 points from them because sometime I be feeling bad for new players, but I will say it’s some ppls fault they can’t rank up themselves but they sometimes don’t won’t to change their gameplay and adapt and blame everything on the game and everything else instead of getting better, that’s when u see players with 15k wins hard stuck in blue ranks

Jin, Kazuya and King are my fav character but Jin and Kazuya are very difficult to play. But still they can be fun and you learn the tekken fundamental with them. But my primary main is King, great fun of wrestlers.

Just 2 days ago returned after 2 years, and oh my god even starting from 1dan all the time against me smurfs and even who aren't they just pulling the wires after lose.
Also waiting time now is quite big and even if game find an opponent most of them decline.

I am pretty new to Tekken, just bought it like a week ago or so when it was on sale in steam (85%, so why not, lol). The strange ranked system was something I almost imediatly noticed and it is kinda annoying. But as I am not highly competitive it is ok for me I guess, happy for any round I might win, even when I lose the match. Still think it is better overall to change it and make other characters rank in a certain range from your highest ranked character. It is just more beginner friendly.

Usually 3-5 games and in my experience only if you guys are like close in level resulting in super close games.

New to the game here. Can someone tell me if this is normal to be stuck at very low ranks ? I have something like 70-80 hours of training mode practice and maybe 30 hours of online playtime and I stuck to one char only so I know pretty much all of their combos at this point. But when I run into 1st Dan to Grand Master (the ranks i'm stuck at), I feel like they're way too good for their rank.
It's cuz they ran into a green rank who's too good for theirs, and so on

The lower ranks you pretty much fight other people who are new to new-ish to the game so button mashing is your best friend while also being theirs. You don't get past the button masher ranks until you enter the Red ranks then you have to start knowing Frame data a bit. Once you get to Ruler ranks you really have to know your shit or you will feel like your back were you started when you first got the game but only this time it's because your opponents know what they are doing with sidesteps, frames, and whiff punishes

But I just don't understand how I come across so many players with like 10 wins and they barely drop any combos and seem to have actual knowledge of their character. Idk they just seem overally underranked. Was this game always like this ? I play on PC btw

As long as you are playing another person it's fine. Jusf avoid excessive time in practice mode or vs computer.
