Having the right mid ranger is better than having an old flagship. You just need to know what that mid ranger is. The poco f6 is better than most old flagships.
The OnePlus 12 have been really cheap lately, might consider getting that over a midrange. However, Xiaomi 14T is close by and the 13T had been a great phone.

I got the Nord 3 and it is an excellent all around phone. If I were to upgrade it I would probably go for OnePlus 12R though. The only problem this one has that on data it drains more battery than Qualcomm phones. (But has beyond excellent reception, with full bars even in an underpass or caught 4g in a remote castle I have recently been to-my Brother's Samsung failed to do so)
The 7+ gen 3 is a downclocked 8s gen 3 with artificially removed av1 decode and ray tracing. Performs basically identical to the 8s gen 3 in real world scenario albet consuming a little more power due to being a lower binned chip. Alternatively it can be seen as an 8+ gen 1 with a slightly better cpu and a ever so slightly overclocked gpu that supports better memory in the form of LPDDR5x and UFS 4.0, which is the only segment the 7+ gen 3 drastically outperforms the 8+ gen 1 in antutu.

After dropping clock speed under load and at same clock speed the 7+ gen 3 typically consumes more power compared to 8s gen 3 due to worse silicon quality, you can see these in multiple test done on the chinese video streaming website bilibili where you will see the 7+ gen 3 powered oneplus ace3v and realme gt neo6 se consuming more power than the 8s gen 3 powered redmi turbo 3 aka poco f5. It also makes sense from qualcomm's standpoint as they get to sell chips that failed to meet the qualifications to be a 8s gen 3 as a 7+ gen 3, but as this is not a big enough distinction they also removed av1 decoding and ray tracing + ai from 7+.

I remember the NGage. I worked in a games shop and we got sent a demo unit that was apparently such hit property it has to be locked in a safe overnight. In the months of demoing it on the shop floor we sold precisely none 😂

I'm completely with you on the pickled onion flavour but Space Raiders absolutely rocked the Roast Beef flavour.
I own the Nord 3 5G and for what I use a phone for it does pretty much everything I need it to. Wireless charging would have been nice, but its not essential. The Nord 3 is able to handle Genshin Impact on medium settings, but to be honest, I didn't like the game that much and the size of it was ridiculous. Am looking forward to seeing what the Nord 4 looks like nearer launch date.
If Nokia does an N-Gage sequel their best bet will be to do what Sony did with the Xperia Play and have the controller portion slide out from the side. Either that or add it to their feature phone series but find some smart way to make it more useable as a phone without losing the console usabilty.

Personally, I have no need for this phone because, I own a OnePlus 12. Still, this looks like a very nice endeavor. The only thing that I don't care for is the flat screen. I prefer an ergonomic curved glass design.

Apart from the stupid lack of a headphone jack (yes, I'm one of those😂) and the asymmetric back, this seems like a great successor to my venerable Nokia 7.2. And since my last experience with OnePlus was the hated X which I loved owning, I think I'd get along fine with a Nord quite easily. I'll shortlist it with a nice condition LG wing in my Christmas wishlist 😂
The N9 ( same hardware as Lumia 920 ) run Linux based OS and could run android apps so there was a light at the end of the tunnel but Mr "burning platform" elop killed that dream. Rest is history. Oh and ngage was proper mental .. but maybe ahead of its time? Also there were vertu android phones as well ( Nokia v posh brand )

Pixel 8 is more expensive but still no quick charge and no quick charger and a battery not that impressive. For me a deal breaker no matter how good the camera's are.

Looked at the Razr last year but it wasn't a finished product yet, this year's model looks like they have dealt with shortcomings. Samsung are out of the question because of their UI.
