Shimano makes good, high-quality and high-performance reels.
But Shimano still does not realize that in fact from all these top technologies and features, considered by them, 3 are missing and the most important of all considered by fishermen.
    1. BAITRUNNER LC = Of all the evolution of Carp reels, Big Pit, Surfcasting, Specimen, etc. and besides all the features developed over the years, the Baitrunner LC is and has been the most reliable and beneficial feature possible.
With Baitrunner feature, gives us the advantage to set the front drag torque of the line only once at the beginning of fishing match and it can remain set for the entire fishing match.
And when engaged, the spool will release the line as it was set until we pick up the rod and turn the handle, which instantly engages the front drag and enables to continue the fight.
But without the Baitrunner, we would have to set the front Drag on every rod, at every cast, which becomes a waste of time, unpleasant, disgusting and even annoying especially in a competition fishing where every minute counts.
In conclusion, a reel without Baitrunner, can be Big Pit, Carp, Surfcasting, Specimen, etc. is actually considered just a spinning reel but little bigger, NOT a Carp reel.
    2. Bail Arm = At many of reels, especially at Carp reels, the Bail Arm NO longer triggers automatically when we turn the handle. With manual triggers, this is extremely unpleasant and is becoming more and more disgusting.
    3. Big Pit Spool = Besides to the 14000 Spool, Shimano could make a reel version on the same model, with the same features and with a 5500 Spool the same as at Ultegra Ci4+ model. The 5500 Spool is enough for any style of fishing.
What can we expect in the future, a bicycle frame, without rubber on the rear rim, pedaling in drill?
14000 Spool is actually a true crane NOT a reel, to be honest.
We still need a chassis to replace the rods and we will fish with construction equipment.
If Shimano implemented a version with Baitrunner on Ultegra Ci4+ 5500 and 14000 and Baitrunner and a 5500 Spool on Aero Technium MGS and Power Aero reels, again with automatic release of the Bail Arm when we turn the handle, we can say again that Shimano offer a large range of Carp reels for all the fishing style.
Daiwa takes care of these aspects and actually offers fishermen more than 10 Baitrunner reels, of which at least 7 are Long Cast and all with automatic release of the Bail Arm when we turn the handle.
For this reason, Shimano lost and continues to lose a lot front of Daiwa if them does not take these aspects into account.

I have 3 new aero techniums. I have used them for 8 fishing days, and two of them have broken line guards, because the line went under the spool, I didn't recognize immediately and the line catch it while I was rotating... I hate it, I will sell them....

    Oh Not. Other Rubbish
The characteristics of the reels and their performance is the most important aspect, but the size as Big Pit doesn't matter, worse than that they are really uncomfortable as a whole with any rod.
The large size as Big Pit is just a manipulation for the naive, who think this is most important.
The English prefer Daiwa only for this reason. High performance in small and compact things.
The fact that you load the spool with 600m of line, it doesn't help at all, not even at planted fishing.
In Carp fishing, the drill is the most pleasant moment, and the drill it's the same enjoyable and with a spool of 5000 as the same as one of 14000, even if the recovery ratio is faster being the spool larger. Recovery time doesn't matter, because we are at fishing, not at hunting, or in shop, or at stole.
The longer the drill lasts, the longer the sensation in the fight with the fish.
And if there is the problem of hang on, at a long distance, a spare roller with line is much preferable than a huge reel size and a permanent more weight on the rod.
A more compact reel with a spool of 5000 maximum 5500 are the most reliable reels and make a good balance with any rod.
If Shimano would improve the reels such as Shimano Medium Baitrunner Ci4 + XTR-A LC and Shimano Baitrunner X-Aero 4000 FA, with the same features such as a Aero Technium MGS and Power Aero, it would be more successful than the Big Pit reels, because both have Baitrunner that make the most comfortable and relaxed style of fishing. Any carp reel without Baitrunner, based only on the front drag, requires much more attention and more care for the fisherman, to avoid the risk of losing the rod, and during the drill it is not at all comfortable to sit with one hand always on the brake, weakening and tensioning the line.
Compact Reels with medium spool 5000 - 5500 but with Higher Features, they are more pleasant and reliable than any oversized reel like Big Pit.

What reel do you use then for (carp) fishing of the size 5000/5500?

    • @RR00KK00
      @RR00KK00 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IRonStorm66666 I used both 5000 and 5500.
The 5000 and 5500 variants are excellent in the balance between the rod and the reel and much comfortable in hand.
So far I have tried all 5500 reels, Medium Baitrunner Ci4+ XTR-A LC , XTA, etc. which are excellent with any size of carp and they are very comfortable in the hand during the drill.
The function of Baitrunner is very important from two aspects, for me at least. You have adjusted it once and it can continue like this until the end of fishing.
      1. You don't need to adjust the brake every time after launch, as it is with reels without Baitrunner, which is very comfortable.
      2. The reel automatically switches from Baitrunner to front brake after the first turn of the crank, which is very useful.
But Shimano doesn't want to improve Baitrunner reels more, especially those with 5000 and 5500 spools.
I also bought Baitrunner X-Aero 4000 FA reels, which are also excellent, especially for feeders. Even this model handles very well even with large fish.
The Big Pit version is ok, but they are very big. The balance between the rod and the reel is not at all comfortable and I don't see the point of that 14000 reel. How far can you cast? How much line can a fish take until you reach the rod? Even when fishing planted, don't leave the bait over the border.
And regarding the drill by recovering the fish, the fish can be recovered just as well with 5000 and 5500 reels almost like the Big Pit ones.
But it is much more pleasant and easier to hold a lighter and more compact reel in your hand during the drill, than to hold that big gauge of Big Pit in your hand and much harder.
I think a 5000 or 5500 version and with Baitrunner on Aero Technium and Power Aero reels, with a more compact body, would be ideal.

@@aarondavies8486 I used only Shimano Medium reels, 5000 - 5500 which I was very happy with years ago. Then I also tried the Big Pot version because I saw that Shimano is more focused on Big Pit and offers more performance in them, and they no longer improve the Medium range. But for me it was a total failure that made me give up on their Reels and I also gave up on Shimano after trying their Big Pit.
Shimano focused on large reels believing that they could conquer the fishermen with their cranes, throwing dust in the eyes of the naive as would be: Big Spool with several kilometers of wire, Quick recovery and many other features.
While Daiwa focuses on compact reels, but high-performance.
Through this they won many followers and every day, I see more and more fishermen giving up Shimano reels. When I asked why he preferred Daiwa more than Shimano, many said that the medium-sized Shimano 5000 and 5500 reels are neither high-performance nor high-quality, and the Big Pit reels are already disgusting with all their performance. (Cranes)
And Daiwa has a Big Pit range, but it does not insist only on this range, but also offers the same medium-sized reel.
If Shimano continues like this, I think that the next model of the Big Pit reel will be able to be used only in a team of at least two people. One to hold the reel, and the second to turn the crank.
