Zombie movies are just fantastic way to showcase the evil of humanity. most are less about the zombies and more about how we react to them and eachother in the face of a crisis
You are so right, and the same concept extends to other artforms of the zombie genre as well. The human factor is what makes World War Z (THE BOOK - NOT THE MOVIE!!!) such a masterpiece. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. It is my favorite book of all genres. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a zombie fanatic. I am a zombie fanatic, but I also love a lot of other things. The WWZ book is just that good, imo.

I kinda feel like that theme is a bit overdone. I would like to see a zombie story that acknowledges that humanity can be horrific while also highlighting moments where characters show compassion. If there is a story like that I would love to see it
Technically they're not zombes, they're infected and very much still alive. This movie wasn't shot on film, it was shot on consumer Mini DV camcorders, hence the really "home movie" look. It was an odd choice but Danny Boyle is an incredible director.

I am not a big fan of the zombie genre but this one stands out for me. If you are looking for a good para-normal film you need to watch The Haunting - 1963 - it's the original version of he Haunting of Hill House. Not quite zombie movies but The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari 1921, Invasion of the Body Snatchers - 1956 or Day of the Triffids - 1963 (kinda cheesy but a fun watch). I like subtitles more for blu ray because the sound mixing is different, my shit speakers have the dialogue quiet but the music or sound effects loud, I don't like riding the remote the whole time.
Possible mix between school and the fact that he may be one of those channels that only pretend they're seeing something from the first time. Some of his mannerisms and reactions seemed slightly prepared in all honesty

You need to watch NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD...BY GEORGE ROMERO. this started the ZOMBIE TROPES. All ROMERO films add to the tropes. He is the one who started the Zombies eat human flesh. And is Grandfather of the Genre. It is a psychological movie as well.

I watched all kinds of zombie movies since I was a kid in the 80s and if you woke up in a zombie apocalypse, you wouldn't be wandering the streets like that!! Nothing would be functioning, almost everything would be spoiled or straight up rotten and what isn't spoiled has without question been looted and hoarded somewhere (remember the toilet paper issue during the covid-19 pandemic), this is the apocalypse. More importantly the entire city is filled to the brim with rotten festering corpses!! You wouldn't be able to walk in the streets without gagging and vomiting from the stink of the filth. You'd be able to smell that church from miles away...

Dawn of the Dead directed by Zack Snyder is my favorite zombie movie ever. CLASSIC.
Highly recommend Return of the Living Dead and Savini’s remake of Night of the Living Dead with Tony Todd.
