    That's a great idea to make things compatible and way safer for us small saw builders. Where we need something to help with safety and efficiency on the job site. Cheers...

    This is a great video and neatly brings together two useful upgrades for the DeWalt table saw. It really delivers a major upgrade. Good job and brilliant idea. I did have one suggestion however. If you were to turn upside down the wooden support for the Jessem guide rail then you could make it thinner because you would make the wooden support flush with the top of the bow clamps. That would lower the Jessem guide rail and give you an extra 5 or 6 mm of travel for the Jessem rollers, which as you point out needs to be on the longest setting already. the only problem is that your bow clamps need to stay as part of the wooden support.

    Leave the bolts on the timber. Slide it as a set onto your rail.

    Do you think the Jessem guides are with the extra cost and clamping hassle vs the Bow fence and their feather boards that give downward pressure?

    • @Sunday_Builds
      @Sunday_Builds  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's a good question. Personally i think they are. One of key differences is it continues to provide inward direction after the cut has gone past the blade. The Bow system can't do that as you can't have a feather board giving side pressure after blade as it will pinch it.

    Hi Friend
    Brilliant integration of two different systems.
    Question: What do you like about the rollers vs the vertical featherboards?
    Are they that much smoother when passing stock or stronger against kickback?
    How much travel of the rollers away from the fence were you able to gain?
    I began looking at both brands, and you're the first I see putting them side by side..better yet, getting them to work together. Hats off!

    • @Sunday_Builds
      @Sunday_Builds  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the feedback!
      The key part on the rollers is that they are angled inwards towards the fence. This keeps your material tight to the fence. You can really see it working if you feed material in say 2-3mm off fence and it pretty much automatically draws it back in to fence immediately. It also makes kickback pretty much impossible. I have the smaller ones on my router fence as well and are brilliant.
      I would 100% recommend getting the Bow Fence first. I think if you are planning on using saw more regularly and for more finer cabinet work then I would definitely invest in the Jessem guides. Both items should really last a lifetime, especially as you can replace the roller O rings on the guides.
      WIth this system I'm now using this setup to rip down much bigger sheets which I may have previously turned to tracksaw to do. And it makes things a lot quicker versus setting up guide rail and clamping, etc.
      Just to make sure I answer your question, what exactly did you mean on travel of rollers away from fence?

    • @lakeinocean7869
      @lakeinocean7869 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Sunday_Builds Thanks, Bud, for your reply.
      That's good enough reason for me. A horizontal featherboard is not usable for wider material, and that just brings hands closer again to that blade. The guide system that stays on track despite the variables is what we're all after.
      The cost of this set up is as much as my portable Bosch. But this affords the stability of a bigger saw that you can't carry, and much enhanced safety by addressing the primary risks. Mods are never cheap. Emergency and after are always the most expensive.
      Travel of the roller from fence, I meant how much extension do you get with the shafts (moved away from the base n fence). I tried finding that spec from Jessem's site, but those folks are much better at manufacturing than documentation. ;)
      Thanks again! For your great ingenuity to a safety solution and for being a good sport in sharing the details. Many thumbs up to you! And the rest of the fingers wiggling Hi from where they belong. :)

      @@lakeinocean7869 Sorry for delay and thanks for kinds words! With my setup it gives me about 60-65mm extension inwards from fence.

      @@Sunday_Builds Hi Friend. Thanks for that measurement.
      I went ahead eagerly and gathered all the components, and skipped the feather boards all together.
      In the US, Bow sells each separately on Amzn. That's also the best place for Jessem w/o their shipping delays.
      Just tracking those rollers by hand, I see what you mean, how they'd guide into the fence.
      And this design of rollers that travel to n from the fence and rest out of the way is so much better than the simpler Jessem rollers that are fixed to the fence. That's what I was imagining until I saw your build.
      Yeah, the 46" Bow is the way to go, even for my smaller Bosch 18v which is not as deep as your Dewalt.
      A foot of overhang at each end is just right for these supports, especially since they're moveable on the track.
      Enable your by-me-coffee feature, will you, so we can get you a pint or few. ;) Well deserved!

    Thank you so much for making this video! I've been looking to purchase both of these items for my Dewalt table saw, and it's so helpful to see how you use them. Do you happen to know if the Jessem router table stock guides would work on the Bow fence? Thanks again :)

    • @johngaleano1291
      @johngaleano1291 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The router table stock guides would be too short for this set up as they're not adjustable like the table saw stock guides. I guess if you're only planning to run thicker stock, you could use them.

    • @Sunday_Builds
      @Sunday_Builds  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    • @Sunday_Builds
      @Sunday_Builds  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is true! But I'd maybe see it a little different. People pay thousands for a bigger more stationary table saw. With these 2 items you get a lot closer to the capability and safety that these saws have without permanently taking up this footprint. I would definitely start with the bow fence as the built in t-tracks give so many different possibilities and other custom fences you can add. Given it's largely just a aluminium extrustion there's also no reason why this shouldn't last a life time!

    Nice demonstration but ridiculously priced products.
    Premium woodworking products from toolbags to these fences must be the most profitable tools to sell, I think the manufacturers believe (rightly so) that some woodworkers will pay x100% markup for a x1% improvement in performance.
    I'm a carpentry contractor and I was a tool whore in my younger days but I wised up.
    Today I was in the market for a 250mm jobsite table saw, the dewalt offering is £800, I bought an excel branded one for £169.
    They appear largely to have the same features, although I know the blade in the Excel will be rubbish but at that money who cares.
