    Bro had the perfect setup for next year at Texas but went and lost his damn mind. Got a second shot in Washington and went and lost his damn mind.
    Wish the best for him and all, but bro, obviously something or someone got into his brain and convinced him that he doesn't have to do anything and it's going to cost him a great baller life.
    BTW... why like 9 out of 10 times is it a WR?

    It's Obvious there was a lot going on behind the scene at Texas with Johntay. I will commend Texas and Coach Sark for not making this known to the public. Texas was giving him another opportunity to start all over with another program and do great things. I'm sure there were many people at Texas that was trying to guide him in the right direction. He has no one to blame but himself.

    Over the course of my career at Ohio State I’ve seen the extensive services we have for athletes. I had the opportunity to be an academic advisor to some of our athletes, not football lol. I can remember one who I’m very proud of what he’s done with his career. There a lot of behind the scenes people at these institutions and you to do invest personally in the people/athletes so when something like this happens it’s really disappointing.

    Most pray, hope, and dream to be even half as talented as guys like Cook & Lacey. I’m praying that God directs their steps and that they get back on the right path that leads to them making plays on the field. They’re super young & will learn from this all. I made terrible decisions at their age (I still do tbh 😅) and my life wasn’t under a magnifying glass like theirs is.

    As a Longhorn fan it’s sad to watch guys with so much opportunity at their fingertips not have the maturity to take advantage of such a gift. So many high schoolers dream of having half the opportunity Cook had because they love playing the game and see this guy potentially throwing it away. But that’s life, some guys just don’t get it.

    I always was a big Johntay fan. He had such a bright future . Not sure what happened I could tell he had a lot maturing to do when I saw him going at it with random people on IG. You never see high profile athletes arguing with random people on the net and he would all the time . I hope he can find some peace . He can still redeem himself but it’s gonna take a lot of work .

    Had to know that if his targets got incrementally smaller and smaller as the season went on and noone made a 'fuss' over his early announcment that he was portal bound, that something was up. Then of course less than 2 weeks on campus at UW, it was pretty obvious there was issues between percepted value and reality of the player. Sad to see...

    College football seemed to me the only legal place to let out your physical aggression. The problem schools forget where these kids come from. Instead of redirecting years of neglect they get rid of the young adult when they need the most help.
    But also if the young adult bails what can you do?
    For the record never been a Texas fan.

    I usually agree with this but you can’t keep a kid that is stealing stuff out of his teammates lockers.

  • @johneichsteadt4432
    @johneichsteadt4432 วันที่ผ่านมา

    When there IS a business relationship due to NIL, sometimes the best thing to do is "fire" the kid. It's a real-world lesson that employment comes with rules and responsibilities. If you don't follow the rules, or refuse to meet your responsibilities, you get fired. He clearly had two chances to fix whatever is wrong with his mindset, but didn't. Someone is likely to give him a shot, but there won't be NiL money attached because he's shown that it's a bad investment. He is now going to learn that actions have consequences, and his behavior or attitude just cost him a lot of money. If he refuses to sign anywhere without NIL money attached, then there was nothing a team would have been able to do to help him anyway.

      Bill Bernbach whose ad agency started a creative revolution in advertising in the 1960s:
      "When we started our agency, we had in mind precisely the kind of people we wanted with us. There were two requirements: You had to be talented and you had to be nice. If you were nice but without talent, we were very sorry, but you just wouldn’t do. We had to ‘make it.’ And only great talent would help us do that. If you were a great talent, but not a nice person, we had no hesitation in saying ‘No.’ Life is too short to sacrifice so much of it, to living with a bastard.”

    Oh, no question about it-this kid was *born* for the spotlight. Who needs grades or common sense when you’ve got NBA YoungBoy’s playlist and a knack for making impulsive decisions? Honestly, it’s a mystery how he even got to Texas-was it luck, or did someone just think, “Hey, this guy looks like he could handle a little chaos”? NIL deals? Sure, that was his big shot-if only he knew what an “NIL deal” actually *was*. But hey, who needs strategy when you’ve got a PhD in self-sabotage? Maybe there’s hope, though. After all, even a broken clock is right twice a day, right?
