  • The most important part of any disability exam is the medical history - how the patient describes their problem and answers the doctor's questions. Unfortunately, due to misunderstandings, many patient fail to provide a good history. I give tips on how to give a good history, and increase the chances of your disability application being approved.

    I am struggling so much to do physical things and it is driving me crazy. I have all of the issues you mentioned in this video and more. All I really want is to be able to do things again but I can't, so I am having to reapply.
    I have been watching your videos and a disability attorney's videos and they have been very helpful.
    Thank you for taking the time to help those of us out here who need it.
    By the way...I loved the very end of your video. Crunch crunch crunch. 😊

      Thanks - those are four juvenile raccoons that were born this spring. I leave food out every evening. I've had raccoons, opossums, a fox, and a coyote - I think - it didn't show itself well. And I live in the suburbs, not the countryside. I will be posting another video next Thursday about how to increase your disability application's chances of success.

      @@DisabilityExams aww, that is so neat! I'm an animal lover. I used to feed the wildlife when I lived in areas where they were. I'm looking forward to your videos. 😊

    Even though I still feel like the exam is a setup for failure this video made me feel better about going to the CE exam and gave me a chance. ❤
    Can a CE exam be VIRTuAL

    • @DisabilityExams
      @DisabilityExams  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, they are not virtual, and I don't think virtual exams would be a good idea. A lot of the information comes from seeing the patient in person.

    Thank you. I can read the listings myself and I know that I meet them. Your advice will surely go a long way towards effectively communicating the effect my disabilities have on my ability to function as they relate to those listings.

    God help me, this makes perfect sense but what does one do when they are terrible communicators in person? Have a feeling pulling out a paper and reading directly from it would just make an examiner think you’re being told what to say. I have a lot of mental problems that make in person conversations a mess. It’s so bad I am probably going to be denied for not being able to explain.

    Listen I went today they gave me one day's notice. I've been waiting over 2 years I am in ICU nurse for the last 23 years until I couldn't work anymore. The first thing they said was we need to leave the wheelchair outside so we can get you on the exam table. I told him I could not stand up I had my Kane with me but not a walker because all of it would not fit in the car I had my daughter with me to help as well I told him I could hold on to the table and the chair and get in the chair and then she said it's okay just stay in the wheelchair. Then she wants to ask me about 50 times, no exaggerating, how long I can stand for how many steps I can take how many stairs I could go up could I crawl and I just kept saying I have torn labrum in both hips and my shoulder a fractured foot terrible osteoarthritis djd, I went on to explain that no matter what question you asked me I still can't stand up I was polite we were giggling and I know they have to ask certain questions, but at what point can you like make them believe you I offered to show her how much I could do. She saw me in pain she saw me cringing she saw my nodules in my fingers. I am an ICU nurse. I would be working making $200 an hour if I could stand up walk work and didn't just lose my husband and my father on the same day, wasn't in severe state of depression anxiety over my foreclosure losing my car and my whole world falling apart amongst other things. I'm embarrassed to be in bad shape I don't want to be ill I don't want to be helpless and now that my husband and my dad are gone I also have an elderly mom to take care of and I have two teenage girls who have to do everything and I am hanging on by a thread. I wake up short of breath and panic attacks. No I can't get in the shower alone I use a shower chair and a transfer bench and an arm bed rail and a bath Rail and a raised toilet seat and all these things that I never dreamed that I would need as a nurse at 53 years old after covid the osteoarthritis took over, my keratoconus took over I now need corneal transplants, it takes me about 15 minutes to sit up and get to the bathroom which is about 40/30 ft away in tears all the time from the pain and hate to be a pain to other people but I did not even open the door for my daughter and I to try to get the wheelchair in it was a little bit frustrating as if they had no idea what they were asking me I explained explicitly the type of pain when I'm sitting when I'm moving when I'm pivoting from qheel chair to bed,ETC... then the question started with how long can you balance on one foot can you crawl can you lay on the ground, and I just kept being polite and answering ma'am I cannot stand up I cannot bear wait I have two bone on bone torn labrum in my hip joint degenerative joint disease osteoarthritis a fractured foot a torn rotator cuff, my C spine has arthritis my lumbar spine has arthritis I can sit but I have to wiggle around. I have keratoconus without my $2,000 scleral lenses I am pretty much blind, as if I was wearing goggles full of water while underwater opening my eyes. That's how I see play the next and only step for me is corneal transplant. I go to Baskin Palmer and I specialist in miami. And then she asked me when's the last time I got glasses. I wanted to pull the rest of my hair out being that it's just falling out in wads anyway. I wish you were the doctor there and thank you for all you do

    Great video, they denied me now im on a appeal with my lawyer and I recently received a doctor letter stating I'm unable to work because of my diabetes nerve damage and blood clots in my legs and left arm, I keep calling my lawyers and checking the website but it just keeps saying waiting for medical portion of the claim, do you have any advice for me? Do you think my appeal will go through this time based on the fact that I have a doctor's recommendation that I cannot work this time and they're looking deeper in my medical records not just by their doctor and their psychiatrist which I've seen them both literally for about 5 minutes each when I went to the appointment.

    Hello, Dr. In my understanding watching your video I should see a disability doctor instead of my regular doctor. I will be 65 this year. In Jan 2020 I had a car accident the airbags hit both shoulders but the right shoulder was more painful than the left. At the Time Alstate pays for the doctor's visit and the massage therapists. time went by the pain never goes away I saw my doctor once he gives me motrin 400mg and I didn't go back it helps a little buy the pain never stops. I have been doing all physical terhapies that I follows from youtube for back and shoulder pain it doesn't help much the pain is getting stronger that I can't pick up things or more my right arm to the side or to the back, I was a care giver since 2018 for elderly that needs a lot of turning them over on the bed and supporting them in the walking so, I thing that couse the pain to to worsen , I resigned from that jom last Oct 2023 no jobs since then , I have a dress shop that I altered wedding gown that is restricting me from lefting up the heave gown on my sewing maching it hurts my shoulder more , I can work the same way anymore.Since January this year I have very stiff neck that it hurt to move left and right I have been massaging and that help I had to sleept without pillow , My shoulder became so painful that I screem when I move the right shoulder while I am sleeping the pain spreding down to the shoulder blade additionally my mid back is hurting on the right side only and the thingling feeling like electrical shocks from my tealbone down to my leg. Again I have been massaging a little because my righr arm and shoulder is painful both my pinky the firt joint is swelling like the bone pupping up the same as my right thumb and my left right fingger joint. I have been thinking to book an appointment with my doctor then I saw your videos, I am thinking should i apply for disability? Any advise would be appreciated.

    How do you find a disability doctor

    • @DisabilityExams
      @DisabilityExams  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Social Security will refer you to a doctor for a Consultative Examination if they feel it is necessary. Not all applicants need an exam. Social Security usually requests an exam if there are inadequate medical records, the medical records are old, confusing, or conflicting. If you have full, up to date medical records they probably won't request an exam.
