Last Flight for 2020 in my Quicksilver Ultralight

- Well the harsh reality of Winter is two days away. Highs in the 20's and snow forecasted for Monday and Tuesday. So with the day after Thanksgiving providing 60 degree temperatures and light winds, I trekked to the airpark to take one last flight and prepare my plane for the next few months of sleep. The terrain is different than my last flight. The greys and tans replace the green and lush. Will the good Lord above give me another chance to soar like an Eagle? Only he knows! You folks have a Merry Christmas and I'll see you next Spring! God Bless you and your families!!

How do you prepare your quick for hibernation? I’m a new quick owner and need to do the same.
I dont like leaving fuel in the tank all winter so I drain it and leave it open at the bottom to drain condensation. The hangar isnt heated so the changes in temperature will contract and expand the tank. I also leave the fuel lines and sump with gas in it. This minimizes condensation and keeps them from drying out. There is enough oil in the gas to help. I make sure I drain the lines and carb bowl and replace with avgas or boat gas in the spring to keep from gumming up the carb and cylinders. I also remove all my electronics, headset and cover it with fleece blankets to keep the bugs and birds out if the get in. Then I kiss it goodbye and patiently await for Spring!😉

Oh boy...this was a good flight! You might think the earth looks drab now but the view from your quick was BEAUTIFUL! Just to be above the earth flying like you do is really great! Wish I could be doing that also. Many thanks for taking the video and putting it on TH-cam for us landlocked hanger bums. Have very good holidays...hope to see you flying in spring.
Ive been flying since 1983. Two years ago I was stricken with Cancer. I didnt know if Id make it through but the Lord took my hand and led me through it. I was rebuilding this at the time and tried to sell it so it wouldnt be a burden to my family if I passed. The joy of seeing this landscape no matter what the season is can be uplifting. It just changed too fast😉
