This is a great recording of the Ferde Grofe arrangement as recorded Feb. 10, 1930 in Los Angeles by the Paul Whiteman Orchestra with Bing Crosby and the Rhythm Boys on the vocal, and Joe Venuti and Al Lang as well. This is a nice note for note transcription. Neat to hear a modern recording of this great number. thanks for posting
I loved all of the versions of this song: Cab Calloway's, Paul Whiteman's and Jack Hylton's. This one resembles the Paul Whiteman version, but it's a little diferent. Loved it!
Two of a kind my friend. Ich ebenfalls^^. Als ich angefangen habe Fallout zu spielen hat esmeinen musikstil vollkommen umgeworfen und seitdem höre ich nurnoch Musik aus der zeit1900-1960^^
The bass player musta had the string bass in his lap to make that changeover from tuba! One helluva nice rave-up on this classic coda to the Jazz Age. Me happy now.
It really is - so weird that it survives without being completely modernized. That lobby with the palms and murals, and the coffee shop, which looks like it hasn't been changed since 1960. :) Vince found a great home there - it's a match. :)
Right - Vince Giordano's Nighthawks Orchestra WITH the Manhattan Rhythm Kings singing. If you're in NYC on a Monday or a Tuesday night - go hear Vince and the boys play at Sophia's Club Cache at the Hotel Edison in the Time Square area. It's like stepping through a time machine. They are the best out there - full stop.
@thardingau Even in the DVD Bonus Features they talk about this song and that it was made by the Manhattan Rythm Kings. It is not actually sung by the man shown in the movie.
Leave it to Scorsese (and protege David Chase) for finding just the right period pieces on their soundtracks! It's Marty's signature on everything from "Mean Streets" to "The Irishman" and all the classics in between. David personally picked every song during the "Sopranos" run, too, and two hit soundtrack CDs resulted. But you don't have to be Italian to dig up great music...although for those two maestros, it helped! :-) (BTW- Never watched a minute of either's work, but my folks- avid fans of both- used to ask me about the songs.)
@turtelman1234 because Fallout 3 particularly has a gamer listening to some of the greatest music of all time, and because of this a whole new generation has been redoctorinated!
This modern version has a lot of legitimacy. But what happened to the "bottom" as was revealed in old, tube recorded records? Not as dimensional, sorry. Gary
This is definitely one of those songs I can listen to on loop and never get bored of.
The singing is only a minor part of this recording - the main credit should instead go to the band (Vince Giordano and his Nighthawks).
thanks!

Ferde Grofe arrangement?!!! Fantastic detail, thanks.
I just watched the Aviator and was blown away by this song
This version was based exactly off Paul Whiteman`s version of Happy Feet, they sound exactly the same
It's the exact same arrangement.
Yes, but only 2 singers. And besides, nothing beats the tone of the Rhythm Boys!
Yeah, Ii lined up both of the videos and they sound the exact same. Down to every detail.
and with modern technology to expand he sound!

2:12 is intense.
I want to jitterbug and Charleston to this fun piece of music.
Thanks very much for sharing. .
The Edison Hotel is really awesome. I stayed there when I last visited NY.
Nice Paul Whiteman recreation, very very nice.
Throwback to The Aviator.
Throw forward you mean

Howard Hughes, the Aviator. "Your hittin on all six cylinders, aren't you?"
Gold!
Very authentic rendering of the Whiteman classic. Superlatives abound!
Love this song. Wish I'd had a tap routine choreographed to it when I was tap dancing in my youth.
Vince Giordano are now at Birdland NYC on Monday nites 2 shows 5: 30 and 8:30

John Henry Eden Ich war immer Freund der Bruderschaft. Ich mag zwar die Ausrüstung der Enklave mehr aber ihre Moral gefällt mir nicht.
ONE OF GREATEST SONGS IN HISTORY!
Sehr gut!

Great music and band
I remember this in the movie and how impressed I was with it!
I'll never understand why Bethesda never added this song into Fallout 4, or 76. It's too perfect.

You have those ten tappings toes! 😃

Just keep an eye out for remastered versions of artists.
If this version is from the movie soundtrack, then the artist is Vince Giordano's Nighthawks, not the Manhattan Rhythm Kings.
My legs start to dance when i put this song on lol.
Only, the best !!!!!!!
It is the Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks with the Manhattan Rhythm Kings singing.
Would be pretty badass in VATS, with those slow-mo shots.
The infinite row of vault-boys makes this so uncanny
Who's here from "The Aviator" starring Leonardo DiCaprio?
Loved The Aviator's entire soundtrack ... Howard Shore's. This cut's the cat's meow!
DiCaprio likes to star in a lot of films that take place in the past, huh?

@RPGgruber Thanks a bunch. I was able to download some Sunset Sarsaparilla wallpapers which I enjoy. Thanks again. :)
Nice song!
I don't know why, but I got the sudden urge to tap my feet
***** I totally agree
Because you got those happy feet
This song was engineered for that purpose im sure
Does the Charleston
The real Happy Feet right there, better than the movie Happy Feet (2006)
Feel the hot RCW
The aviator :D
Love this song reminds me if bioshocl in a way it was great!
And Here Comes The Rape Bots DX
I love this song when I'm walking through Minefield.
Here for Aljaz & Daisy!
I’d think I was listening to Paul Whitman & his Orchestra, with vocal refrain by the Rhythm Boys.
@izimcool I could imagine a giant big daddy dancing on this song. XD Epic song : )
Sounds like an electro swing song that has yet to be birthed
Microsoft headquarters right now.
Deflation INTENSIFIES
Crazy to think this was the musical equivalent to "Whiplash" of the early 30s
Happy feet!
Great song!
By the way, where do you get your Fallout images?
fallout fallout fallout fallout fallout and aviator
Kermit the Frog`s take on it is my fave version.
Kermits version of ANYTHING is the best version.
Sounds almost exactly like Paul Whitemans version. Impressive cover
you advertise this as swing music, but only 1 out of 10 is a swing beat whassup?
The Manhattan Rhythm Kings*
;P
any reason you use Fallout pictures for all of your videos?
When was this recorded? It sounds recent, not 1930!
2004
This modern version has a lot of legitimacy. But what happened to the "bottom" as was revealed in old, tube recorded records? Not as dimensional, sorry.

@princessvalium6 fallout 4: Back to LA , ground zero of the original fallout
WHY CAN’T THIS BE ON iTUNES? PLEASEEE
After 2:11 would be so much better if the drummer used the splash and choked it, like in the original recording.
Let's play find the real Vault Boy. Hint: He's the one planning to brutally murder the others.
To BIGSLMAN: Correct spelling in the title: it's Rhythm, not Rythm.
Sounds like a sorta Bioshock-horror music type thing, dunno why.
happy clones in the pic.
9a. (
The pictures look like Conan LOL
@sumai4444 Indoctrinated.
I prefer Kermit's version.
Wrong version....
Sarxcel Depends on what you're looking for, I guess. This is the official soundtrack version from the movie "The Aviator".
its not rythm kings
You're thinking of "The Rhythm Boys."
This is "The Manhattan Rhythm Kings."
