  • The BRZ (and Toyota 86 cousin) have always made for great daily driver sports cars. The new one continues that tradition with good fuel economy numbers.

Surely the appeal of a Brz is more than just the gearbox itself. Yes agree that the manual may be the enthusiasts preferred choice but what do you do if you like everything else about the car. Will be used as a daily driver not a track car but still want an auto of sorts. Should we rather buy a SUV/generic looking warm hatch/gadgety GTI Mk8 or a small German money pit? Not all that appealing.

I think the car looks good and I love the community and tuners that are into it. If I get one, I'm getting Auto, This would be a daily and I have no intentions of learning manual any time soon. I like cars but what I don't like about the car community as a whole is the Manual vs Auto debate and gatekeeping. If I showed up at an 86 car meet with an automatic will I get shunned? .. maybe, and I don't like that. It makes me not want to show up or talk about cars at all. I hate seeing these comments every time an Automatic 86 is in a video. It is what it is I guess.

It's not nimble, it rolls like a boat, unless you get the z06. I had to upgrade the suspension to z06 parts to make it "feel" sporty. Oh, don't forget, the computer is programmed to make you shift from 1st to 4th to save gas. You are locked out of 2nd and 3rd unless you floor it. You have to get a $15 aftermarket part to disable the computer which everyone with a brain does. Eventually got rid of it for a mini cooper s.
