Just here after watchinjg Part 1. The Town Centre has changed so much. @02:52 --> This is where The Garden Gate Pub is now. @07:57 --> I was filming near there today!!! @09:03 --> The Wellington Centre is still open, but there aren't lots of shops. Your videos are so informative.
Lovely to see my home a nd after many years away I am now living back here with my kids,we are going to the lido today..we were so lucky to live around the corner from such a big outdoor pool in Gloucester road
12 years on and those shops are still like that in the Wellington centre. But it’s closed off, they are currently in pre development stage of a total renovation
The deserted shopping centre is STILL the same to day with ONE exception.YUP,you guessed it!.....the one shop that was open is now closed!. Gary, you come across as a lovely bloke so it doesn't surprise me you left.No surprise you lived in Cranmore Lane,a VERY des res compared to the rest of town. In fact,it's almost in Farnham!.
Thank you Steve. I was lucky to get out in 1981 at the height of Thatcher's reign. I do miss it though. I had some really good friends, and can even remember some of the bullies who terrorized me with fondness. Thanks for posting comments on this video Steve.
Thanks for taking us through this town. My famiy moved to London 1986, from Aldershot. Do you remember the church on Victoria Road, well my father use to Pastor that black church. Mostly caribbean families went there back in the day.
I went to junior school in Blackwater/Camberley area then we moved to Aldershot. I went to the West End Centre for a youth theater workshop in the evenings which I enjoyed very much.
took the video clips in 2008 yes. It was put back on youtube recently because of a Facebook group about the town was drawing interest. I hope you were at least entertained by it.
Thanks for these vids. You’ve literally taken me for a walk around my childhood, even the Ascension youth club!

Thanks for your comment. I would love to go back to Aldershot for another visit. The place doesn't seem to change much.

I'd like to do that. Coming over in 2018, will try. Doesn't sound as if it has changed much though.
