I especially like that you focused on staple cards that can be used in a large variety of decks so that newer players or players looking to enter the format can have somewhere to jump in. This was a really big help last year. One thing I would love to see someone do is the best commander cards in a $3-5 range. Or even $5-10. Everything seems to be either super budget or $30+.
This is so much better than other content creators’ budget lists! Using these cards with a good foundational manabase and ramp package, a player can make a powerful (tier 4-7) deck on a budget. More bang for your buck! Thanks DJ :)

Got to love the shout out for Cloudblazer. It's one of my favourite blink and flicker targets in my Ephara deck, as it essentially becomes a draw 3 with Ephara's effect. Seriously considering it for Roon as well when I get around to building it.
Also: shamanic Revelations, collective unconscious, grarruk's packleader, rush of knowledge, in garruk's wake, warstorm surge, return of the wildspeaker, keep watch, aetherize, star compass, winged words.. possibilities are endless!
Crashing Drawbridge is one of those cards that just wins me out of nowhere. Imagine hitting all of your 20+ rat colony from thrumming stone or just swing with 100 goblins with krenko. Its super underrated
Heroic Intervention is a great example of a card that's done nothing but gone up in price in such a short time due to commander. A couple years ago I could get it for $5 each, which I thought was expensive. It's now getting up to $20.
@@Stevie28 I often do this in my Marchesa, the Black Rose deck, to set my life total LOWER than it was, to stop myself having the most life. Idk if someone already said something but Torgaar, Famine Incarnate sets target player's life total to half their starting life total, so in a game of commander it would set target players life total to 20, not 10. Not trying to be overly critical or make Torgaar seem bad, I do love that card just wanted to point it out in case someone reads this who doesn't already know the card.
Thank you for videos like this, DJ! I love when I am reminded of rares from past sets that I absolutely should be running in EDH, Oracle's Vault and Aggressive Mammoth are two that are very relevant to my current decks for sure.
LOL Over half of these cards mentioned are cards I already use:p I'd like to add: Reclaim: cmc F, Instant, put any card from your graveyard on top of library, combine with card draw the downside doesn't even matter. Mire Triton: cmc 1B, 2/1, Deathtouch, put the top 2 cards of your library into graveyard, gain 2 life. Stitchers supplier is already a 5.49$ USD card for an UC!!! Mire Triton has so far done the same, scratch that, even better with the life gain and Deaththouch 2/1 for only 1b is nuts in my Meren deck. Penumbra Spider: cmc 2FF, 2/4, Reach, When put into graveyard from battlefield return as a 2/4 black Penumbra Spider token. If you have played MTG long enough you will know how annoying a 2/4 Reach spider can be... I wanted to also add Poison Tip Archer: cmc 2FB, 2/3, Deathtouch, Reach, Whenever another creature dies each opponent loses a life BUT it is 1.29$ USD, LOL :(
What about Consume the meek? a 5 mana answer to a bunch of creatures (specifically token decks) that will leave your bigger creatures around to wreak havoc.

So underrated in commander but does his job, and also you probably already have it if you play pauper. Black: Delirium Skeins. Just under a dollar ad it's ENDGAME if you have a planeswalker Green: Terra stomper. Well not much to explain here. Just 0.28 is a DEAL

Its one card less but way better selection.

Aside from artifact theme decks, Energy Flux is awesome against opponents who get all their ramp from mana rocks, and feels especially good against people playing mana crypt and vault. I play it in some decks that have very few or no artifacts because of mana creatures or green land ramp.
