Yeah there is always the "without him everyone would die" argument. BUT lets not forget what a scientist can do in the Dragon Ball world. The whole Cell threat came from Dr. Gero Without Bulma an Dr. Briefs, the Z-Fighters would have bin lost countless times and the lack of thinking was what let it come this far.
People shit on it, but honestly, TFS did a better job with some elements of the Cell saga better than the original show.
