I listened to Fumbling Towards Ecstasy on endless repeat for about 2 years in the 90s. This song spoke to my soul then and it still brings me a sweet melancholy...live your life the way that is right for you, not for anyone else!
Same. I played Fumbling on repeat for years, but this song got played even more. My absolute favorite song of hers and one of my favorite songs period even today all these years later. She was my first and second concert back in 1995. Absolutely amazing woman.
Back when concert videos had lingering shots and didn't have jump cuts every second. Her own Afterglow Live is guilty of that but Mirrorball is just about perfect.
The Afterglow DVD was shot on video, Mirrorball was shot on film. You can tell. Cut on a Steenbeck and synced up with the analog multitrack masters, and mixed to perfection by Tom Lord-Alge. Plus Sarah, those songs, and those players, and that crew. We had no idea how good we had it back then. I miss the 90s.
@@fallinginthed33p the option was still there for sure, but if the aesthetic and budget called for it, I would think they went with a primarily analog chain. If the soundtrack wasn't recorded to analog tape, then most likely would have been a rack of DA88s or maybe a RADAR recorder maybe mixed through an SSL console. DTRS can do a whole show, ADAT and analog tape, notsomuch. Mixdown probably would have been on an SSL or Neve printed to 1/2" tape or in 5.1 to another DTRS deck synced to the video via SMPTE
@@ieosv humm. I dont know much Joni , and I'm sure this is valid. But my god. When these albums came out I was in a semi conscious state beyond belief that there was a pop artist that put female singers on the map ....I listened to Joan Jett and the MTV stuff. But Sara and Tori were the 2 on top
Right. Sometimes you can't but focus on how amazing the backing vocals are in this song, they're just perfect, she blends perfectly with Sarah's voice.
This woman is magic and she saved my life

I listened to that song on repeat as well

i know right..crazy how time flies! IM still stuck in the 80s especially when it comes to music!
In the dictionary, next to the word "SENSUAL" is Sarah McLachlan performing Mirrorball
One of my favorite DVDs to watch on a rainy night. She's just so good. Thanks for posting!
I'm in love with her voice, i sweet surrender .....

@@happypapi1903 Full analog mix? I would have expected digital mixes by the late 90's.

If she's not be the best female singer/songwriter then she's most likely the second best by quite a way

The VH1 Storytellers with Paula Cole is superb too.
DEMAIS A MAIOR....
That rare song when the backing vocals equals and at times surpasses the lead...
Right. Sometimes you can't but focus on how amazing the backing vocals are in this song, they're just perfect, she blends perfectly with Sarah's voice.

Id like to think rosa parks had more to say than just "nah."
Anything more wouldve equated to permanent censorship though.
I was gonna search somethin then i clicked this stupid video and forgot what it was.
