I would have loved to have seen this….. released as a cd…..1. Love Me Do ( as their first single release)…. 2. Free as a bird , 3. Real Love, 4. Grow old with me …. John’s vocal from Milk & Honey…. And Ringo’s version from What’s my name melded together…..would have been nice for a John /Ringo duet….5 …. And last Now and Then.

Great job! You helped me through the long wait, and from another thread I heard that the release was supposed to be September (as you originally mentioned) , but it was decided to go with a chronological order and while it was not too late for the CD's it was too late for the vinyl to do the same...hence the push back and the differences in how the tracks are sequenced on those formats.
Actually I think the vinyl is very unique and not the trucks are on the third desk rather than being second in chronological order like the cities are I think they should keep it the way it is because it’s really cool and very unique way of doing it on vinyl.
On the Beatles website with the tracklisting, the entire Red album, from Love Me Do to the Rubber Soul tracks, have a brand new 2023 remix in Dolby Atmos Stereo. There's also new remixes of Magical Mystery Tour tracks like the title track, Fool on the Hill, as well as Old Brown Shoe and Hey Bulldog. Everything that got that treatment already is passed over.

Looking forward to this. No matter the quality of Now And Then, and I'm sure some people will criticise it, it will be really interesting to hear what they've come up with. A lot of new remixes on red album, which will be great. Like you say, shame that Free As A Bird and Real Love aren't on the blue album. I reckon this means they'll re-release the Anthology albums in the future, all tracks remixed, maybe expanded, maybe a boxset? Great video by the way.
@laartwork Yeah, I really liked it. It was that and the Anthology stuff that got me interested in the Beatles in 1995. It was my gateway into all their other stuff. Some of the criticism, especially here in UK, was completely OTT.
5 bucks says they change love me do on the red album to the original single version, like they have on past masters, and i hate that version, i prefer the version with ringo playing the tamborine.
Mathew, I am cautiously thrilled about all this, and as always, I totally appreciate your great enthusiasm. Anything that brings the Beatles into the attention of the public eye is a good thing. I preordered the 12' vinyl single last night. There are a lot of great libraries in my area (SW suburbs of Chicago) which regularly order new CDs of classic rock releases, so I will check out a copy of these new albums, and listen carefully, to see (or 'hear') if the new remixes are better. I bought the "Revolver" box set a few months ago, and if they release a "Rubber Soul" set, I'll buy that, too.
For the most part this is awesome. I LOVE that the older material uses the de mixing technology and we get newer mixes (well needed). I also love that the 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 & 2022 mixes are being used too for the later material. There was NO reason for Giles to remix the newer mixes with exception of the early material remixed in 2015 for the 1 album. Thumbs up Apple for sticking to this otherwise there would be confusion over the newer mixes. The older material on the remixed 1 DID need to be redone with the de mixing technology to center the drums etc. My ONLY gripe is Real Love and Free As A Bird aren’t on this compilation in new glorious stereo 😂. Overall A for apple on this release.

Hey Matt!! I'm still not overly excited by 'Now And Then' but I am very optimistically curious to hear what they've done - I'm guessing Paul sings the parts where John didn't have proper lyrics. Though I am really looking forward to the documentary and video. As for the "Red" and "Blue" albums, I'm not going to buy them again, unless I buy them just so I can have them, but seeing as these were the "gateway" albums for so many fans, I hope that these will be the perfect "gateway" albums for the next generation or two!!
I think you might want to buy the remix retina blues so that way you can compare the Mexicans of the early Beatles stuff and what do you like the best and the great thing about it is is that you get all the different mixes so that way there’s no confusion on which mixes or what. of course if you’re not into the remixes you don’t have to buy them you can stick to them but I would highly highly recommend that you definitely get the remix it’s fun comparing different versions of the different mixes not just in stereo but in mono as well so I would be daring and try it.
1962-1966, definitely remixed entirely and expanded - and kicks off with Love Me Do and has 11 newly added selections…all 2023 mixes. 1967-1970, remixed as well (but various sources this time), and 9 newly added selections, including Now And Then. (The mixes range from 2017 to 2023)

I'm so excited!! I got the marble blue 7" single (ugly cover) and the cassette (very cool!). I am very excited to hear the single. I wonder if it will sound like some of the excellent versions made by fans on TH-cam. I can't wait to hear the new mixes, and see the documentary and new video for the single! Kudos Matt on your Beatles pre-info from end of July 2023 regarding the Beatles Red & Blue Albums plus Now & Then. Seems like some of the comments mention the older Beatles songs were De-Mixed (Peter Jackson technology)? Can you confirm this & where the source came from? and also mentioned was Now & Then not being included on the Blue 67-70 cd? Now the mixing chaos- I can see some of the tracks having the recent Giles Martin remixes, but the older Beatles songs could also be the existing remixes from 2009 thru 2015? And I didn’t think the Red & Blue albums would have any alternate tracks because the originals didn’t have any & these sets I think needed to be the straight up Beatles hits for the newer fans. And the de-mixing or spruced remixing of older tracks (if true) are for us hardcore fans. The big selling point for both groups of fans of course is Now & Then being touted as the last Beatles song & put on the Blue Album which makes sense. I think that’s why Free as a Bird & Real Love was not included EMI/Apple probably have other plans. And even though I think Paul McCartney might have mentioned back during Anthology that RL & FAABird was going to be the last Beatles songs, that might have been forgotten & with Peter Jackson AI technique to enhance but not change the Lennon demo it was officially announced as the Beatles final song- just my opinion. It’s finally here! I got the 6 disc colored vinyl set preordered so far. Might pick up a couple of variations of the single, but not sure yet what. Eventually I’ll get the 4 CD set too, but waiting to see if the price drops.
Looking forward to the updated Red and Blue Albums and over the moon cover versions are included - just gutted Now andThen will not be available as a cd single - big surprise it will be a double a side with Love me do
All the extra tracks on the blue album have been remixed already except Hey Bulldog. That makes a grand total of 6 remixed tracks on the blue. All the songs that haven’t been remixed on the red are all new mixes (per the Beatles website)
I've never had any attachment to the Red and Blue albums. Nor any other Beatles compilation, including "1". Assuming that they've done something to the earlier tracks, I can only (at best) see this as a teaser for future box sets. I would've preferred if they'd used A.I. to clean up the 3 Anthology sets, and added "Now and Then" to the third of those. Just like it was originally supposed to be.
Great video. My only quibble with the new song selection is Glass Onion. I agree with the addition of blackbird and dear prudence, but glass onion? Why not Helter Skelter? It’s probably the next most popular song on the album. Glass onion is more of a deep cut. Even Julia would be a better choice. Anyway the rest looks great and I’ve ordered the color vinyl set.
Sounds great, Matt. I checked The Beatles Store and Universal Music and all they are listing is the LP sets and Now & Then on vinyl and cassette. Could not see any CD sets. They have to be using the CD format, right? Hope so. Next week can't come soon enough.
Okay, so 1966-1970 has been expanded to 2023, but where are the ANTHOLOGY singles from 1995 and 1996...? Couldn't the still-unreleased fast version of "Two of Us" -- which should have appeared on the pricey LET IT BE deluxe -- been included here as well?? Most excited by the news there will be no "Now and Then" cd single! FAB!
I hope George’s contributions on the new one are fairly substantial. His solos were, imho, the best thing about FAAB and Real Love. Also hope they treaded lightly with strings.
@@Ian_Jules I've listened to enough ELO, who I like, and Jeff Lynne, who I like to know that Ringo Starrs drumming was a case of fitting in with Lynne than Lennon. Starr's genius was being able to add from the back, doing what the along demanded. On FAAB in particular, I 'feel' that he was unable to do this. That is my opinion, I expect he would disagree, but while si agree the song is Beatles and sounds like them, it also sounds like Lynne. That is not a bad thing, I think he added something special to the Wilburys too.
@@Withcare11 Fair enough. I’ve also read the drum sound on FAAB had to do with Ringo being chained to the drum machine on John’s tape, since they couldn’t isolate the vocal. Real Love was piano and voice only, irc, and the drums there are a *little* less heavy.

Who needs the Red and Blue album when you have the “Love” CD…😄✌🏻 Of course, in saying that, it’d be nice to also have remixed “Love Songs” and “Rock & Roll Music” (with second album cover, please) on CD and vinyl. Because in all reality i had those 2 compilations and i had a lot of fun with those. in all honesty, i’d rather have those rather than the red and blue album, but that’s just me..
The full tracklisting is on the Beatles website. Some of the mixes are from 2015 but the majority of them are from the recent boxsets, and some are new mixes for the Red Album era material. But not all tracks seeem to have been remixed. The formats are all listed on the Beatles website. Unsurpisingly.
@@matthewstreet1961 I've got to say. When you look at the tracklisting, and knowing some songs won't appear in deluxe boxsets, of studio albums, that there are still notable gaps? For example. Hey Jude as a alternate take appeared in the white album box, so that is where a Giles remix might go. But it didn't. Fair enough. But the Blue Album has the single Hey Jude/Revolution included. Perfect. But the version of Revolution is 2023. The version of Hey Jude is from 2015. So where, and when, will Hey Judes remix come out, and where will it fit? To me, that is just bizarre.
It makes zero sense to include Now and Then on the Blue album without Free as a Bird and Real Love, bizarre. however I'm delighted that Now and Then is being released as a single.
If you think about it, Now and Then has already been released in a Beatles song (not the title of the track of course) but as the lyric, "But every NOW AND THEN i feel so insecure, i know that i just need you like i never done before"
There is no "AI remixing" it's all just spectral demixing which is just an advanced version of what was called Blind Source Separation (many years ago) when you had to run separations with Matlab algorithms. The algorithms are public and there are numerous websites that let you do online separations and many home-brew remixers have been producing amazing remixes the past several years. This tech is not exclusive to Peter Jackson or Apple. The difference here is that they can run separations on discrete multi-tracks stems before they were mixed down and compressed and reverb added since most of the Beatles multi-track master tapes from 1964 to 1969 still exist so the sound quality is far greater than trying to demix from a vintage stereo mix from CD.
Wondering amidst all this imminent mania whether the only-occasionally-Visible Ray will make that Pepper-like “Wall of Fame” backdrop? It’s the right thing to do…
About B-sides: Looking at the track listing on the picture of the back of the CDs on Amazon, "This Boy," a B-side song, will be on the Red album. As much as I've always liked "Roll Over Beethoven," I'm disappointed, because other than that, there are no covers on the entire set (as there weren't on the original). I wish that they had picked another George original, like "Don't Bother Me," which I always thought was a fine song, and impressive, considering it was the very 1st song that he ever wrote. "I Need You" would also have been a good choice. Otherwise, I think they made fine selections in what to add to the original track lineup.
I totally agree about only using original material. I really love some of their covers, but I think it might be better to put together a compilation of Beatles covers on a separate album. One of the really great things about the original Red + Blue LPs was that they demonstrated that the Beatles were great songwriters, and that they had a huge body of work of songs written by them alone.
What a shame they are recycling so many previous DE remixes most of which sound little like the originals. Those bloated digital messes are now replacing the original stereo mixes :-( At least we will get new remixes of the older material and hopefully they won't be digital FX shit-fests like the Sgt Pepper DE remixes since they'll use some demixing tech to open them up more. It goes without saying that ALL the songs should have been NEW mixes. It's not like you have to rebuild the previous Pro-Tools session files they still exist you just reopen them and undo the needless digital dickery and excess EQ and compression added to the DE mixes. You could just issue the simpler remixes the Abbey Road staff created before Giles Martin came in put his touch on them. Even the "Rock Band" remixes would be better.
Even tho less commercial “In Spite of all the Danger” could have been the flip side. Like the beginning and the end of The Beatles recorded. Guess the decision to use Love Me Do was to align with most listeners exposure to their music. Only the die hard true fans know the back catalog and b sides less played.
I plan on buying the six LP set and the CD sets as well the TCD Seth and the 60 peso what does the case I’ll try to find a fourth effectiveness of the case I’ll buy whatever product is available tonight I’m excited🎉
Pre-Revolver songs are new mixes - the rest are previous issued remixes (2017, 2018 etc) - Artwork for the Now and then single LOL what a joke! Just art deco text... what a huge missed opportunity.

The Blue Album always has been perfect, the Red Album only needed the addition of Taxman and Tomorrow Never Knows. The new versions are not convincing. Roll Over Beethoven on the red album in a world where his other songs exist? That part is silly. ROB is one of the most dull Beatles tracks. If the goal was to get more George, Think For Yourself, Love You To, or even I Need You would be preferable to ROB.

Both faab and real love came out as CD singles with other unreleased tracks, new single only vinyl and a reworked love me do on b side, as for red and blue, fans have the extra tracks on other albums, it's money grabbing and I will stick to my originals, I mean, same with all Paul's reissues.. Re master and chuck some extras, can't afford to keep duplicating albums for these titbit..

I'm still not overly excited by 'Now And Then' but I am very optimistically curious to hear what they've done - I'm guessing Paul sings the parts where John didn't have proper lyrics. Though I am really looking forward to the documentary and video.
As for the "Red" and "Blue" albums, I'm not going to buy them again, unless I buy them just so I can have them, but seeing as these were the "gateway" albums for so many fans, I hope that these will be the perfect "gateway" albums for the next generation or two!!

I think you might want to buy the remix retina blues so that way you can compare the Mexicans of the early Beatles stuff and what do you like the best and the great thing about it is is that you get all the different mixes so that way there’s no confusion on which mixes or what. of course if you’re not into the remixes you don’t have to buy them you can stick to them but I would highly highly recommend that you definitely get the remix it’s fun comparing different versions of the different mixes not just in stereo but in mono as well so I would be daring and try it.

1962-1966, definitely remixed entirely and expanded - and kicks off with Love Me Do and has 11 newly added selections…all 2023 mixes.
1967-1970, remixed as well (but various sources this time), and 9 newly added selections, including Now And Then. (The mixes range from 2017 to 2023)

Kudos Matt on your Beatles pre-info from end of July 2023 regarding the Beatles Red & Blue Albums plus Now & Then. Seems like some of the comments mention the older Beatles songs were De-Mixed (Peter Jackson technology)? Can you confirm this & where the source came from? and also mentioned was Now & Then not being included on the Blue 67-70 cd? Now the mixing chaos- I can see some of the tracks having the recent Giles Martin remixes, but the older Beatles songs could also be the existing remixes from 2009 thru 2015? And I didn’t think the Red & Blue albums would have any alternate tracks because the originals didn’t have any & these sets I think needed to be the straight up Beatles hits for the newer fans. And the de-mixing or spruced remixing of older tracks (if true) are for us hardcore fans. The big selling point for both groups of fans of course is Now & Then being touted as the last Beatles song & put on the Blue Album which makes sense. I think that’s why Free as a Bird & Real Love was not included EMI/Apple probably have other plans. And even though I think Paul McCartney might have mentioned back during Anthology that RL & FAABird was going to be the last Beatles songs, that might have been forgotten & with Peter Jackson AI technique to enhance but not change the Lennon demo it was officially announced as the Beatles final song- just my opinion. All the extra tracks on the blue album have been remixed already except Hey Bulldog. That makes a grand total of 6 remixed tracks on the blue. All the songs that haven’t been remixed on the red are all new mixes (per the Beatles website)

I've never had any attachment to the Red and Blue albums. Nor any other Beatles compilation, including "1".
Assuming that they've done something to the earlier tracks, I can only (at best) see this as a teaser for future box sets.
I would've preferred if they'd used A.I. to clean up the 3 Anthology sets, and added "Now and Then" to the third of those.

Great video. My only quibble with the new song selection is Glass Onion. I agree with the addition of blackbird and dear prudence, but glass onion? Why not Helter Skelter? It’s probably the next most popular song on the album. Glass onion is more of a deep cut. Even Julia would be a better choice. Anyway the rest looks great and I’ve ordered the color vinyl set.
Perhaps they wanted another John vocal to keep things balanced. Cheers

I hope George’s contributions on the new one are fairly substantial. His solos were, imho, the best thing about FAAB and Real Love. Also hope they treaded lightly with strings.

@@Ian_Jules I've listened to enough ELO, who I like, and Jeff Lynne, who I like to know that Ringo Starrs drumming was a case of fitting in with Lynne than Lennon.
Starr's genius was being able to add from the back, doing what the along demanded. On FAAB in particular, I 'feel' that he was unable to do this. That is my opinion, I expect he would disagree, but while si agree the song is Beatles and sounds like them, it also sounds like Lynne. That is not a bad thing, I think he added something special to the Wilburys too.
@@Withcare11 Fair enough. I’ve also read the drum sound on FAAB had to do with Ringo being chained to the drum machine on John’s tape, since they couldn’t isolate the vocal. Real Love was piano and voice only, irc, and the drums there are a *little* less heavy.

The full tracklisting is on the Beatles website. Some of the mixes are from 2015 but the majority of them are from the recent boxsets, and some are new mixes for the Red Album era material.
But not all tracks seeem to have been remixed.

For example. Hey Jude as a alternate take appeared in the white album box, so that is where a Giles remix might go.
But it didn't. Fair enough.
But the Blue Album has the single Hey Jude/Revolution included. Perfect.
But the version of Revolution is 2023. The version of Hey Jude is from 2015.
So where, and when, will Hey Judes remix come out, and where will it fit?

There is no "AI remixing" it's all just spectral demixing which is just an advanced version of what was called Blind Source Separation (many years ago) when you had to run separations with Matlab algorithms. The algorithms are public and there are numerous websites that let you do online separations and many home-brew remixers have been producing amazing remixes the past several years. This tech is not exclusive to Peter Jackson or Apple. The difference here is that they can run separations on discrete multi-tracks stems before they were mixed down and compressed and reverb added since most of the Beatles multi-track master tapes from 1964 to 1969 still exist so the sound quality is far greater than trying to demix from a vintage stereo mix from CD.

About B-sides: Looking at the track listing on the picture of the back of the CDs on Amazon, "This Boy," a B-side song, will be on the Red album. As much as I've always liked "Roll Over Beethoven," I'm disappointed, because other than that, there are no covers on the entire set (as there weren't on the original). I wish that they had picked another George original, like "Don't Bother Me," which I always thought was a fine song, and impressive, considering it was the very 1st song that he ever wrote. "I Need You" would also have been a good choice. Otherwise, I think they made fine selections in what to add to the original track lineup.
They've added 'Twist and Shout' and 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me' also. Which are cover songs. They should have kept this original material.
In any case, we've got all those songs already, so we can hear them any time. "You Really Got a Hold on Me" is a really wonderful cover.
I totally agree about only using original material. I really love some of their covers, but I think it might be better to put together a compilation of Beatles covers on a separate album. One of the really great things about the original Red + Blue LPs was that they demonstrated that the Beatles were great songwriters, and that they had a huge body of work of songs written by them alone.

What a shame they are recycling so many previous DE remixes most of which sound little like the originals. Those bloated digital messes are now replacing the original stereo mixes :-( At least we will get new remixes of the older material and hopefully they won't be digital FX shit-fests like the Sgt Pepper DE remixes since they'll use some demixing tech to open them up more. It goes without saying that ALL the songs should have been NEW mixes. It's not like you have to rebuild the previous Pro-Tools session files they still exist you just reopen them and undo the needless digital dickery and excess EQ and compression added to the DE mixes. You could just issue the simpler remixes the Abbey Road staff created before Giles Martin came in put his touch on them. Even the "Rock Band" remixes would be better.

Even tho less commercial “In Spite of all the Danger” could have been the flip side. Like the beginning and the end of The Beatles recorded. Both faab and real love came out as CD singles with other unreleased tracks, new single only vinyl and a reworked love me do on b side, as for red and blue, fans have the extra tracks on other albums, it's money grabbing and I will stick to my originals, I mean, same with all Paul's reissues.. Re master and chuck some extras, can't afford to keep duplicating albums for these titbit..

No reason to gloat Matt - everything in your July video was already being discussed on the SHF including speculation on tracklisting, remixes, release dates etc. You are acting as if you were the first to break the story - you were not!!!!
