This is definitely educational for me because I always thought EAST Oakland was the most dangerous part of Oakland. I've heard stories about West Oakland but I heard way more "violent" & "gang related" stories about the East more than the West. I'll have to remember that info about the West when I go back 2 tha bay. Been to Oakland a few times as a kid but I spent way more time in Alameda than I did in the O-A-K. Went to the old military base in Alameda, attended an Elementary school for a year there, played in a couple Alameda parks, went to the beach & ate at Chinese restaurants in DT Oakland back in the early 1990's. Never lived there, never hung out there & didn't have any homies from there BUT I did always assume the East was more dangerous than the West. Now I know it's the opposite IRL. Plus they let the fallen Cypress structure lay in ruins for a decade, opportunities are harder to come by too since all the businesses flee. The East is hella more spread out but the Dubbs, Sunnyside, Seminary, Sobrante, Jingletown, Brookfield, Dag, Shady 80s, the Village, Fonktown, Havenscourt just to name a few ain't sweet, there's just a little more space to move around. And those with the exception of Jingletown are the predominantly Black turfs. 73rd and E 1 4. The Foothill strip! Town biz!

I grew up in the Dubbs (murder dubbs by others) and it was differently in a shitty and more violent way back then. I am just really glad most of the dramatic experience I went through are no longer there. These days, I honestly really felt there is some remnants here and there but its usually the guys around my age that are still lingering with the whole "hood, ghetto" mentality. I really do wish for those that are my generation to not encourage any more nonsense as I want to continue see Oakland improve steadily. As for West Oakland, you are correct...its really dense and not a lot of people know about the the whole housing projects that are all squashed into a small community. Well, the improvement has seen a lot of positive changes now. With more buildings not project housing being built, the community being filled more and more with other more pleasant people. Its only a matter of time now before whatever negative stuff can't hold any longer and things turns positive. Jingle town, I felt was more hype than the actual name. Seminary especially going through Bancroft Ave and Foothill Blvd wasn't pleasant in the past and feels a lot more better today than in the past. I did a lot of outreach computer service for families around the East Mont Mall and in many instances I had to decline the request because I was getting chased down during the evening (jumped twice) when I was riding my bike carrying my equipment to help out families. After some times, I was just like F these people...they don't deserve shit! I honestly feel sometimes the people from the area just don't want to better their community by not regulating the individuals that are causing harm.

E14th, aka International blvd, has every ethnic group living together. Beautiful from Skyline all the way down to the Port, Hegenburger and the Estuary to Alameda Beach. There's no greater love for a city like the love for Oakland.

This is definitely educational for me because I always thought EAST Oakland was the most dangerous part of Oakland. I've heard stories about West Oakland but I heard way more "violent" & "gang related" stories about the East more than the West. I'll have to remember that info about the West when I go back 2 tha bay. Been to Oakland a few times as a kid but I spent way more time in Alameda than I did in the O-A-K. Went to the old military base in Alameda, attended an Elementary school for a year there, played in a couple Alameda parks, went to the beach & ate at Chinese restaurants in DT Oakland back in the early 1990's. Never lived there, never hung out there & didn't have any homies from there BUT I did always assume the East was more dangerous than the West. Now I know it's the opposite IRL. Thank you for the upload. Very entertaining & educational. Digging the Unity & Positivity as well. Hoods in every city across the country here in America should learn & take notes! Plus they let the fallen Cypress structure lay in ruins for a decade, opportunities are harder to come by too since all the businesses flee. The East is hella more spread out but the Dubbs, Sunnyside, Seminary, Sobrante, Jingletown, Brookfield, Dag, Shady 80s, the Village, Fonktown, Havenscourt just to name a few ain't sweet, there's just a little more space to move around. And those with the exception of Jingletown are the predominantly Black turfs. 73rd and E 1 4. The Foothill strip! Town biz!

@@PortersPortfolio As someone who is in my 40's, I am really glad things have improved dramatically in the last 20-30 years. I grew up in the Dubbs (murder dubbs by others) and it was differently in a shitty and more violent way back then. I am just really glad most of the dramatic experience I went through are no longer there. These days, I honestly really felt there is some remnants here and there but its usually the guys around my age that are still lingering with the whole "hood, ghetto" mentality. I really do wish for those that are my generation to not encourage any more nonsense as I want to continue see Oakland improve steadily. As for West Oakland, you are correct...its really dense and not a lot of people know about the the whole housing projects that are all squashed into a small community. Well, the improvement has seen a lot of positive changes now. With more buildings not project housing being built, the community being filled more and more with other more pleasant people. Its only a matter of time now before whatever negative stuff can't hold any longer and things turns positive. Jingle town, I felt was more hype than the actual name. Seminary especially going through Bancroft Ave and Foothill Blvd wasn't pleasant in the past and feels a lot more better today than in the past. I did a lot of outreach computer service for families around the East Mont Mall and in many instances I had to decline the request because I was getting chased down during the evening (jumped twice) when I was riding my bike carrying my equipment to help out families. After some times, I was just like F these people...they don't deserve shit! I honestly feel sometimes the people from the area just don't want to better their community by not regulating the individuals that are causing harm.
