Totally addictive! Couldn't stop watching! Can't believe this engine is still in contention. You guys just ain't got any quit in you. Can't wait to see what happens next. Bless y'all and keep 'em coming!
I will not be surprised to you guys get this motor back together and it purr like a kitten. Y’all are walk on water miracle workers when it comes to bringing these dead engines back to life! Never cease to amaze me!!
I like the scripture from Psalm 23. You guys are so entertaining and inspirational to watch. A Father and Son working together with the whole family. That's what's missing in this age. Love the content guys.
engine was, from memory, a Renault unit, which was also used by Volvo. they should be fairly easily available, although many in the USA are converting to V8 power to give them the performance they always should have had.
@@petelattimer6808 yeah, I am kind of bored with a LS-swapping everything, but I have seen these cars with an LS4 from a FWD car that brings them up over 300hp. I don't think many mods are required and the original gearbox is used (with internal component upgrades).
Engine was also used in the Peugeot 604 with 3 carbs (1 single plus 1 double) or with injection. I owned a 604 SL in Norway. Actually, these engines can be made to perform very well with some special parts. Even a turbo. They can do easily 7000 rpm without damage to valvetrain , it is originally very good balanced. As a engine unit they can be made to do about 300 HP with turbo/supercharger and it will last if done correctly. @@petelattimer6808
I have a subscriber that owns a Delorean. It was a project between she and her dad. Her dad passed away, and she lost interest in it. She saw my late father's 1958 Plymouth on my channel and that gave her the desire to start working on it again. You never know who you might inspire or encourage with a video! I'm going to show her this video. Her engine still runs, or it did a couple of years ago. Hopefully she can catch things before they get as bad as this poor engine! God bless!!
Guys, my dad is a retired Italian Air Force airplane mechanic, and as a young boy I never understood how he could like very much to tear things down and make them work again. It was dirty and demanding, and I simply didn’t want to have anything to do with it. Now, while watching your videos, I can understand him much more! Thank you for that and God bless you!
TR, I don't know if you fellas have a boat but I do think you now have an anchor! Your patience is admirable, but that engine has a tragic history! Great video!
I had no idea that the Delorean engine was so complicated. I was never a big fan of these cars because they were all show and no go. You guys have a huge task to try and get this motor to run again. It had to be under water to explain all the rust. Good luck and God bless!
I enjoyed this teardown as much as any other build or recovery ...it may have been gross and full of rust ,but I really enjoy this kind of episode. I really learn alot about a totally different kind of motor..
I watched for the carnage and was not disappointed. That was a lot of effort to pull that engine apart. Alex on Legit Street Cars did a full restoration on his DeLorean but his was only showing the first signs of the valley of death syndrome. He found a NOS parts supplier in Chicago area and was able to get parts and advice on rebuilding his car. You might consider contacting him about engine options. He is a master mechanic with over 20 years experience.
Wow, you guys are amazing. I would have thrown in the towel a long time ago. I am locked in and can't waiting to see the end. This has to be the most intense restoration I have ever seen! Thanks!
I think Back to the Future was one of the best movies I ever saw! The was way under powered, Johnny Carson was stuck in one on the 405 for hours!!!! I always wanted one! God bless you both for your efforts!!!😊🙏😇💪
I love the way y'all bounce ideas off of each other. This is a great father son team. I used to have a relationship with my father inlaw like this but not anymore

I cannot wait to see more. I don't recall watching you and your dad tear an engine all the way down like this, but it has been fascinating and I am certainly hoping that the outcome is good! As someone else stated, maybe you will be the first to successfully repair the 'Valley of Death" and bring this engine back to life! God bless!
OMG ,, YOU GUYS HAVE A LOT ON YOUR HANDS ,, VERY SAD!!! I DO BELIEVE THAT CAR WAS SITTING IN SOME WATER FOR A WHILE ...I HAVE WATCH YOUR VIDEOS FOR A LONG TIME AND THIS IS A DUUZZZZIE , DEPRESSING... Good luck for this restoration. Even in France the V6 PRV (Peugeot, Renault, Volvo) wasn't famous because of : low power, big fuel consumption, bad balancing (at the very start it was a V8 project). I live about 20 miles from the factory where this engine was made.
Awesome video! So much better than just swopping the engine out, there is no fun in watching that anymore. You can absolutely pull this motor through the valley of death, that block is definitely fixable by welding holes shut with gussets or drilling and tapping holes. What an epic storyline this will be with your channel’s name, the valley of death issue and second chances! Please get her running again🙏🙏
@@ingresswizard9044 100% agree with what you say, especially from reliability standpoint, but those cars properly restored and numbers matching will reach silly money in future, whereas a modern engine swop out will also cost fair bit but you will have very little value in the end. Either option will be a tonne of work, so I would choose the one that leaves me with the best investment when all is said and done. Plus I am just a sucker for trying to save any old engines, can’t stand the thought of someday soon only having electric motors to get excited about…
Y'all went through all that pain. I wouldn't even of bothered dismantling that motor would've droppped a supercharged Series II 3.8 in it! Good job though, hard workers💪💪👍👍!
As a 30 year Delorean owner, I’m really Enjoying watching the First ever TH-cam Teardown of Delorean PRV. All I can say is, do your research. Complete Engine Rebuild information and parts are easily available from Delorean Midwest and can be found online under Delorean Workshop Manual.
As a young man l was a mechanic at a Renault dealership, l hate the way those engines are so misunderstood and underappreciated. I used to service those engines on a regular basis and trust me, they're a good engine when used correctly in the right vehicle. The big mistake that Delorean made with that engine was using the normally aspirated version , the turbo version used in the alpine and mvs sport's cars behaved like quite a different animal. The n/a version there however still was a very good smooth engine but was much better suited to more sedate use in sedans such as the r30,r25, Volvo 264,760 and Peugeot 604 etc . Don't hate the engine, hate the jerk who put it in the wrong car. Ideally, Delorean should have gone with the aluminium rover/Buick v8 in one of its variations or turboed that v6 like alpine did.
Please keep it and throw in twin turbos. The factory Legend Turbos prototypes were said to have been on par with the Testarossa acceleration wise. Don't forget the Alpine A610 Turbo, also an amazing car, using the same PRV V6.
Been watching your show for a couple weeks, started with bustin rust found you started this restored. I’m an old back yard mechanic myself. Keep up the good work.
You guys really want that engine to live. I am watching till the end. Been ill the last two days and stumbled on to this channel. Watched too many episodes already. I like the fact that you appreciate the life in those old vehicles as it is. 👍🏾. Hard work you people doing.
I went to college back in late ‘60s in Daytona Beach, Fla. at that time you could drive on the beach. Some folks would park too far out at low tide. Come back to find there car under water. That would explain the total water damage and the sea shell in the engine. You may find more salt water damage when you attack the interior. Keep up the good work.
Well job done. The maintaining non-atmospheric engine is like... is like working with film for the photographer nowadays, from start to the end. Once more thank you, gentlemen.
Okay - again I am hooked! I have had times when I was sure, in my own life, that there was no hope. I guess I've had my own valleys of death to deal with, just like this engine, but God has continued to work on my restoration, so if God has given me hope through your struggles, I guess there is still a chance for me! And a chance for this engine to again surge with life! Blessings for you and your ministry!

Great video. Love watching you two guys working together. Thumbs up from England. Keep up the hard work on the Delorean. Enjoying watching the updates 👍👍👍
It just dawned on me where all that sludge, dirt, plus sea shells came to be in the engine. Could it be that the previous owner watched the "Back to the Future" series and tried to run their DeLorean car on garbage. 🤔😀 I'm glad you spent time stripping the engine right back as it is very interesting to see why it wasn't running. Love you TH-cam site and the various vids.👍

You may even be able to do a collaboration with DeLorean nation and those who installed the LS6 (LS anyway) engine swap and have a car combining the best of the old, with the best of the new.

One of the very best fish and chips vids I have ever watched'😂😂😂😂 this is the kind of video I love to watch on TH-cam,! Thx father & son. Regards from South Africa❤
These are a good engine, and properly tuned and turbocharged they make good power. They were always very conservatively tuned in NA form. But I’d be tempted to use a later quad cam Renault/Peugeot V6 from the early 2000s. Easy and cheap to get in Europe and ship over, they are a very slick and powerful unit. And as it’s the direct descendant of the PRV it’s sort of “correct” for the car :) There is even RenaultSport gear for them as they were used in the very epic Clio V6!
You Gentlemen are REALLY going for it! That mill looks like burnt toast crushed to crumbs. That said, if we are up to episode 2, you Gear Angels are fighting to beat the evil history out of this ride. I say "GO FOR IT!" Turn that dang thing into a DeKraven and make it your own!!!
I would say that it's in the description of the video that if there's two people that I would have to get through the Valley of Death 💀☠️ with it would be this crew here. No discouraging words, all good ideas to try without being on a whim and thinking 🤔 about it before doing it, and for the finally, I do not see or hear anything about "I give up"! Not going to happen and I say that it's going to get fine. 1:04:16
Ok I did a little web searching. The PRV engine was made from 1974 to 1998 by Puegeot/Renault/and Volvo Cars. It is the same engine used in the Delorean. This shouldn’t be too hard to procure. Good Luck and I hope you get McFly home again.
I love how you are taking the time to go through the motor🎉 I understand my last comment and the last video for this episode for this car was a little bit out of the line for my contacts have comments that I normally post but I really think there's a possibility in this car but you need to get a new motor. Completely strip that paint off estimate what body panels are good or not take the original patina stainless steel panels on the car like it originally had and get the correct tail lights for it and then fix all the tidbits that needs to get done
The Delorean is such an iconic vehicle just like the pinto was both could have been made with better engines but those engines fetch such a high price in perfect condition I’m just glad to see people working on these cars still to this day and would love to see someone make a drag car from an original delorean.
Excellent video RESTORE Crew Wyatt :) , Lance :) , Christina:) also say need good engine and bet transmission for this car to it wild what happened to it this way ! Sure shocked me to on tearing engine found big issues and wow too!

Mine had the same stuff in the heads. Congealed antifreeze
Wasn’t that engine used in a bunch of different cars? Can you guys get one of those?
Ok I did a little web searching. The PRV engine was made from 1974 to 1998 by Puegeot/Renault/and Volvo Cars. It is the same engine used in the Delorean. This shouldn’t be too hard to procure. Good Luck and I hope you get
McFly home again.
Should’ve put a doggy pool from the pet store under that engine while you were working. Might save some of the mess. I’ve done that before
I love how you are taking the time to go through the motor🎉 I understand my last comment and the last video for this episode for this car was a little bit out of the line for my contacts have comments that I normally post but I really think there's a possibility in this car but you need to get a new motor. Completely strip that paint off estimate what body panels are good or not take the original patina stainless steel panels on the car like it originally had and get the correct tail lights for it and then fix all the tidbits that needs to get done
God bless the both of you guys and your family and I hope you guys have a good 2024 and thank you for a good 20/23 and 2022

Enjoyed you guys not giving up and tearing that motor all of the way down.
If u get stuck ask Derrick berry from vgg release a video before Christmas he pulled he pulled his motor out and put a v8 in his delorean?
Pry on the flywheel back and forth. Hopefully it will help you if not the Father and son team will come up with a great plan they always do.
59:21 shorter socket maybe, trying to help. 😊 Lots of hard work with this one. Been a good bit since the last one like this one.
The Delorean is such an iconic vehicle just like the pinto was both could have been made with better engines but those engines fetch such a high price in perfect condition I’m just glad to see people working on these cars still to this day and would love to see someone make a drag car from an original delorean.
Didn't think, in your wildest dreams, you would be in this far?! Have you actually watched the show? Great episode. Love the out-takes!
Awsome guys like allways🔥😎
