This explanation is probably one of the reasons why Actors work with him on more than just one film.
I can listen this man talk, all day long.
Oh man, he is the coolest director there is. Not just for the brilliant films he makes, but for how he treats his actors. Class act.
I love the fact that even though Nolan practically writes, directs, and produces movies all by himself, he's a collaborator with actors. Honesty and a sense of partnering and working together with other talented people will get you far. If he continues to do this and the studio bigwigs continue to give him freedom, I bet he continues to make amazing films for decades.
that and the paycheck
i'm glad about your subs man.
i just love his movies. He never did a film without a deep meening wich makes you think about what you have seen.
This man is a intelligent AWESOME filmmaker, this is why his batman films were done right, For people who want to be film makers,Nolan will show u how to make movies the right way.I watch his batman films all the time, there masterpieces, this trilogy, man of steel & arrow amazing. The legendary Christopher Nolan forever.
If I ever succeed in being a film director/screenwriter, I would want to have the talents of Christopher Nolan, James Cameron, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg combined but have my own style of film-making and screenwriting!
Pack man u said it all
Lucas Hákime d
what?
It's weird. He has a British accent but his brother Jonathan has an American accent
Jonathan lived in the States so. I actually love the fact that they have different accents
@@dtothee8730 They both spent time in Chicago when they were young but Jonathan Nolan was younger and more impressionable from the ridicule by peers of his british accent. So he adapted. There is an interview somewhere on youtube where he explains it.
I'm sure actors appreciate his honesty.
I love Chris.
I havent seen one bad film by this guy yet he is truly amazing
Some things never change :)
Its 2020. Still his legacy's unchanged
@Neonman78 I was just gonna say that Nolans shadow looks like batmans cowl.
@VamLoveAndKisses I'm actually wondering when certain actors are labelled 'difficult', is it because of this reason, directors just not being honest with them
Now as he directs 150-200 million dollar pictures (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception), but puts a huge heart and creativity into them, he somehow reminds me of Nicholas Meyer (The Wrath of Khan, The Undiscovered Country). Meyer is also a man with artistic vein, but if he has to deal with effects, he still prefers actors, screenplay and humanity.
SO TRUE!!!
I was comparing the fact that he never made a movie before and just like Quentin Tarantino, he makes one indie film and it's now considered one of the greatest films of all time QT(Reservoir Dogs), CN(Memento)
@KayWildcat - I plan to. Seeing filmmmakers like Christopher Nolan and Gus Van Sant make their films for dirt cheap is inspiring; especially for an aspiring filmmaker such as myself.
You simply have to admire a guy who is a REAL filmmaker. He doesn't make films to satisfy his ego, make a name. He makes films as a professional, efficiently and crafted.
I'm trying to think but not many people do that anymore. Maybe the Iron Man films...
I'm waiting for his film Tenet now. It's 10th of June, 2020. Just a month away. I don't know what will happen cause it's COVID-19 time. :/
Nolan is a genius!
This nolan guy has potential. He should try making movies.
This Nolan & Hitchcock are the directors everyone should aspire to be
Genius
Up was magnificent. A part from The Dark Knight its the most cohesive and powerful film I've seen for many years. Toy Story 3 I haven't seen yet but it sounds fantastic!
Hmm...have you seen the trailer for Rango yet? Not much on the plot know but the style I really like. It may not be Pixar but it looks better then another Shrek or Ice Age...
@bloodrunsclear stuff like Hellboy 2 (which I found alright) can be forgiven when he made "Pan's Labyrinth" and "The Devil's Backbone", two very personal projects
Christopher Nolan is a God.
I agree Inception was easy to follow. I rated Inception 8 out of 10 stars. Under normal circumstances it would have been a 7. I felt the characters weren't fully developed except for Dicaprio's and Page's and possibly Wantanbe's. I rated this so high though because it was fresh and original idea. Yes, Nolan got the idea from a Scruge cartoon but it had never been done in cinema. I also enjoyed how this movie was brilliantly shot and the pacing was well done. I also love heist movies.
u mean intception
but yea anyway
who do you think is better
lucas/speilberg
and what do you think is better
empire strikes back/dark knight
@viniciusb
I haven't seen that one yet
@karanmaxfilms Despite the fact of his originality, which of course I admire, I have to step up and say I agree with you.
Memento is a really good 1.....
@raiderfan89ify Inception was about as easy to follow as Transformers. Okay, that's a bit extreme, but it really didn't "blow my mind" like everyone said it would. Pretty much everything was explained within 5 minutes of it happening and I really didn't care for the characters much throughout the film. With that being said, Nolan is a brilliant director and Memento is one of my all-time favorites. The Dark Knight and Insomnia were also great films.
@narutofan9tf
Ebert and Roeper loved it
@narutofan9tf
Insomnia was a great film, and one of the only converted from other languge to english that works.
It's one of the real inteligent thrillers i like, instead of having to find out who the killer is, it's all about idears and what would happen if he turned him in.
@sgtpeppper
Indiana Jones was Lucases idear, but it's true that spielberg directed the film
Youre also forgetting that Lucas did american graffiti
He is a genius ! Even the shadow of his head is a constant morphing shape of batmans head ! i mean just pause at 0:13 for instance... its incredible :-)
@KayWildcat - How did you come to the perception of me having a "one note perspective"? I'm aware of benefits and advantages of being part of the "internet generation", people almost have too much access to filmmaking. Whether if it's through posting "videos" on Facebook, or here on TH-cam, purchasing a digital camera at your local Best Buy and getting your film friends together to make a film. I watch films from everyone to David Lynch to Akira Kurosawa. How did you come to that judgement?
where can we watch the full interview?
did you get it?
@@billycasper3351 he's still finding it.
@ChaoticSouls was lucas a producer?
@narutofan9tf

lol im 14 but yea i agree with you
both empire and dark knight are really good cause i ask somebody else and said empire
It depends on who you know even then.
His shadow looks like batman
@Neonman78 rofl good observation
Very smart guy. Many actors are glib and even childish; they don't particularly care about why they're asked to do a scene a certain way, they just want the validation of being told they've done it right. Those are the average ones. The really good ones are questioning every single piece of the script and the director's ideas about how it should be played. Good actors drive themselves and eveyone around them crazy by constantly asking questions.
actually the actors you call 'average' are the real good actors
annoying actors are just, annoying and no one will pay them to get annoyed no matter how good they are
@milkshake506 It's very good.
@rodrigodet
I actually enjoyed it i thought that it was gonna be another melodramatic crimethriller but it was nothing like that it was full of ideers
@omypregnanthead
Your right! It's Batman's head! OMG...!
@dkkoover like with heath ledger???
Anyone else notice Christopher Nolan's shadow is Batman?
@karanmaxfilms It's interesting that you consider The Killing Joke a masterpiece when Alan Moore himself doesn't think very highly of it. And as for "Gotham Knight" being the best Bat film,I'd suggest you weigh the accolades Nolan's TDK has received so far against that trifle.
@navylaks2
To be honest I haven't seen it, only heard the harsh reviews. I should have actually seen the film, Christopher Nolan rules!
@karanmaxfilms It's a pity you think that way, because Memento is really really good. Seriously.
Interviewed by : harold lloyd
Star : christopher nolan
Special guest : batman??
@navylaks2
Insomnia?
@bloodrunsclear Guillermo del Toro.
As a guy, so did I..
what i meant by that was he could have a number of great films behind him in the future
i know coppola did THE GODFATHER!
Kubrick had THE SHINING
but honestly i think speilbergs better than uwe boll. I mean even though alot of his movies have made alot of money that doesn't mean they are just summer block busters which he started i wouldn't call him a commercialised director no
Michael bay gets that title.
Nolan's shadow looks like Batman's.
The best comment on youtube!!!!
what?
@bloodrunsclear And James Cameron has become rather shitty and void as a filmmaker(regardless of his movie's success, while Nolan has been consistent throughout his career and shows no signs of stopping.
Sat ring - R
@JesusCristo2002 Why is that unbelievable? It doesn't have a placement on distribution, so it's the equivalent of me going out and using my digital camera and making a movie and then finding a studio and putting it out for no out chance of loss.
Either way, you should watch it, it's good.
@raiderfan89ify Exactly , That guy Nolan gets it. It's a shame that he has Kubrik+Hitchcock ability so Hollywood may only allow him a few more films of financing.
Best. Director. Ever.
Nolan is some kind of sorcerer.
@navylaks2 Insonia s his big miss step but ye he s probaly the best director working today
@sgtpeppper But Kurosawa beats them all by leaps and bounds. Living American director, definitely Marting Scorcese wins.
@Williamsfan
A what??
@karanmaxfilms Bollocks, you're making a loaded argument. Your idea of what a "true Batman fan" came into existence mostly starting in the 80s. The character has gone through many iterations since the 30s and claiming your favorite interpretation as most "accurate" is indefensible. Nolan's adaptations are smart, relevant, and thematically air tight. If you don't prefer them, that's fine. However, I defy any attack on their artistry and skilled construction. GK was rather soulless in my opinion.
LOL
@ClappingMao Are you sure your comment was meant for me? I think you just stupidly replied to me....
I dunno I think he'll just be the next big director...it's like Quentin Tarantino all over again
@JesusCristo2002 *sigh*. I wish you the best of luck for your future as a filmmaker, but you will never reach your full potential unless you become a little more open minded. It's not that you have to like filmmakers like Nolan, but the fact that view such films from a one-note perspective really shows where your mindset is at.
Hellboy 2 :/
Inception
No I know he did american graffiti and indiana jones, but he did indiana jones with steven spielberg so meh. Still, Spielberg is the better director. Think about it... E.T, Jaws, Schindlers list, saving private ryan, catch me if you can, jurassic park im sure there were many more but i forgot them.
I'm only 16 and i can safely say that spielberg is better. Lucas only made star wars, spielberg has made jaws, et, jurassic park, schindlers list, indiana jones ect.
FUNNIEST comment ever!!
@Chris2fur you must be a michael bay fan LMFAO go watch transformers
it makes no sense that the academy snubbed him thrice for best director
I just knew Chris was a brony.
Compare this fellow; an artist, including actors, humble, eloquent.
To James Cameron :/
...and at least some talent.
i don't know i think he could be the next speilberg
Not to forgot that he hires hot chicks
@lankyalun Clearly, you are incapable of understanding what good acting is. The Dark Knight was flooded with great acting. Stop being an idiot and thinking you have to be chaotic and out of the world to give a good performance. Aaron Eckhart was amazing. In fact I thought, that in certain scenes, he match Ledger, but was just overlooked. Maggie Gyllenhaal an Christain Bale were both fantastic and of course, ace actors Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman were great.
Great director that needs to work with other directors.
Or you could just lie and make them do it that way
@bongtoker420 I agree with everything you said, except for the music. The music for The Dark Knight was terrible. It was among Zimmer's worst scores.
Film school is overrated and almost pointless unless you network diligently, with or without it you must network to be gainfully employed.
There's no doubt he is a genius but I don't think he's that great at directing actors. The performances in Dark Knight excluding Heath Ledger are pretty poo.
Christopher Nolan on NOT working with actors. INCEPTION SUCKS!
oh god definetly michael bay, he's so horrible!!
He is boring & weird when he talks
