We have actually only been going for about 4 or so years but it has been fun! Just nice to get away for a few days and enjoy the outdoors.

It doesn't look like the threads of the hitch ball go past the nut when you tightened it down, that's not right, threads should go past the nut. I don't think that's safe.

You are correct. He needs a ball with a longer shank

@@ridge69 th-cam.com/video/oD_aI8czbTI/w-d-xo.html The directions say it too, must protrude two threads beyond the nut as he displayed in the video. He's a Farmer's Insurance commercial away from an accident waiting to happen, you need to change that main hitch ball out! Don't be a Use Watcha Got in this case. With more thought on this, I would say take out that extra plate and you gain back the threads. It's probably there for cases like that when you need more or less thickness. Can't see the rest of the directions in the video.

@SantaFeVman it would be nice if you’d all move on. It’s a mistake I didn’t even realize I made and I don’t even own the hitch or pop up anymore. I appreciate you all putting it out there to help others, but I had no desire to share bad information. At this point the comments are becoming rude. Just a guy sharing my experience on TH-cam, if you don’t like it move on. Also, that particular kit required you to have a removable hitch with threads. If you don’t like it, just move on.

Pliers are not the proper tools in this situation

Would you be able to mount it if the hitch was up instead of down?

Hi gforce, just trying to understand your question - do you mean if the hitch was higher? if that is what you are asking then, no. We had to get the adjustable hitch for height because everything was too tall. To my understanding, you want what you are pulling to be as balanced as possible, so if the front of your trailer/camper/pop up/etc is too high that could be bad while you are rolling down the road at 60mph. Hopefully that answers your question.

@@UseWhatchaGot When you place the hitch bar and ball into the vehicle you have it facing down. I was wondering f you could do it facing up.

@gforce9068 ah! I see. To be honest, that never crossed my mind. I feel like you might be able to. One mistake I made was the main ball’s threads were not long enough to make it go through the nut, so I should have purchased a new ball that was longer (taller?).
