I remember Moffat from when I used to travel to Glasgow or Edinburgh every couple of weeks. There was a great old fashioned butcher further up the square on one corner of a side street.
I will definitely be going here this season, love the look of the town
When I was a trucker I used to stop at a truck stop in Moffat it was before the motor way when it used to be the old A74 and I never knew they had a camp site , mind you I was not INTOO camping back then

We always used this hotel for food only for me to discover while doing family tree , my uncle died there in 1925 when he was a chauffeur from Glasgow

Just about...
"Star Hotel" (narrowest Hotel) does really good food (incl Gluten Free) and gives discount to Campers with Membership cards. Worth a visit !
My word, you are going to find out if Thor is watertight, judging by your coat and the sound of very heavy rain!
It's a shame some of the shops and hotels are/have closed down but life goes on.
Something all high streets are facing.
We are all guilty of buying from Amazon or other online retailers. Hotels are so expensive as well these days. Spending habits have certainly changed, not always for the better.

It’s been a few years since we were in Moffat but I remember seeing a full size replica Spitfire in a garden. It was built from a kit by a retired Dr and visitors could put donations in a box . If your interested, Doing a quick Google search for Spitfire in Moffat garden should show you the location .

Hi Bob. As you arrived in Moffat you pointed out the Esso filling station. This reminded me to ask you if you have signed up to the Caravan and Motorhome club member's benefit of a Esso/Pump-King payment card? www.caravanclub.co.uk/memberoffers/ The Moffat filling station was the first time I used mine! When you register with Pump-King they send you an email every week with a "special price" for fuel at all Esso filling stations. According to my sources Esso in Moffat is currently charging £1.329 for Diesel, the Pump-King price for the next 7 days is £1.304. Not a huge saving. But a much more stunning saving can had at motorway services. eg Scotch Corner Esso is £1.539 today, so the card would save you 23.5p/l. You do have to be careful though, sometimes a local regular Esso pump price can be less than Pump-King, and often supermarkets are cheaper anyway. Every little bit helps....
Thanks, I have looked into this card, I already get cashback on fuel, using my Santander card of 1% at any garage, and 3% at Sainsbury's using my Utility Warehosue cashback card. I don't think it would be worth the fee just for Esso service stations and I never use Motorway service stations.

Blimey, what a wet visit! Looks quite a nice little town and yes such a shame about that lovely hotel. How do you find the CCC sites in comparison to CAMC?
The C&CC sites have facilities usually not quite as good as CMC sites and the service points always seem few and far between. Here, the toilet block is really good. The road and pitches are too narrow though for maneuvering.
Hi like you're videos, so calm .I'm not far from moffat , passed through again tonight sfter filling with gas at abington services, quite an expensive round trip after visiting Peebles ,people should consider when going for underslung gas tanks . Im near cappercluech , not on a site, been here since new years eve , allthough im a member of camping and caravan club haven't used a site yet . had some attrocious weather, supposed to be fine tomorrow weds 8th lets see .good travells

Bob see when you are a member of the caravan and camping club site, can you use the sites to just fill up and empty waste if you decide to wild camp for a couple of days. Do you have to pay or can you just go in as a member without having to book a pitch?
I would imagine you would have to pay a fee for that. I don't know how much because I don't 'wild camp'.
