I've owned a few Mustangs, Fox's and SN95. Had New Edge Stangs in the family. These numbers are weak. Not sure why they were so bad. Car & Driver in 1999 tested a new 5 speed. It did 5.4 to 60 and a 13.9 quarter. They took an auto vert and got 6.1 to 60 and 14.4 quarter. These gears in a 5 speed with drag radials and control arms with nothing else do low 13's and sub 5 sec 0 to 60 EASY. I've seen it. People make fun of these cars because they're not up to today's standards. But with bolt on and gears these are quick cars that are loads of fun to drive and sound better than anything on the road. A friend with a Lexus does low 5's 0 to 60 all day. Teased me about the SN95 but I'd rather drive a Mustang than some 4 door grocery getter. I don't care how fast it is. It's not all about speed. It's the experience. These are fun cars, period! Sure a modern SUV will beat them but it won't put a smile on your face. Hell, most 60's muscle cars are jokes compared to today's cars but they're fun! People trash these Stangs constantly but they shouldn't. People love them for different reasons. Some will never understand.
I totally agree! I think it's all about being a muscle car maniac. But you're definitely right, not how fast they are! It is about the sound, the style which everybody has different tastes for different styles. I love my 2001 Mustang GT convertible. I'm not out there to race by any means! I just love the sound and knowing it is a bad ass Mustang! I just love to drive it and put the gas pedal to the floor once in a while just to hear the roar. Mustangs are a classic car, and some are built to race, and some are built to cruise in style 😉 I just like to cruise amd turn some heads as I go by.
Yeah, all an auto needs is a trans tune from any hand held you want, and it goes pretty hard. i went with a manual to feed my road racing need but an auto is no doubt more consistent than most drivers can be.
That's great, but the main reason I like manual is because I know what gear I need to be in better than a computer with no sense of surroundings does. Manuals are also slightly lighter, and less expensive I believe.
In all 96-04 GT, Mach 1, and Cobras, there is a 4.6l V8. The regular base model holds the 3.8l V6. So the one used in this video is a 4.6l V8. I was under the impression that the V6's didn't have enough traction issues to warrant any aftermarket sticky tires to make it worth it. May be wrong though! Those 4,10's did almost all that difference haha. They mention neither the necessary programming from the 4.10's, nor the aftermarket rims for those Nittos! Needs more explanation!
no he doesn't have a camera man in the 0-60 times test. the camera is stiffly mounted most likely with suction cup on passenger window pointing directly towards him. you can see there is no passenger when they switched camera angles...
My mustang gt ( 2000 ) runs 4.3 seconds 0-60 I have a k&n air filter on it and I'm pretty sure it has a programmer on it , but that's what the last owner said to me.
I'd say 6 seconds stock and I have all of these same bolt ons plus under drive pulleys and a torque converter and I can tell you the converter wakes these fuckers up especially with a j mod which I have also.
Yeah, just like they never install a cold ait intake without a bama tuner because they don't want you to know the intake really only adds 2-3 rear wheel hp by itself.
What engine is in this 2000 gt? Is it a v6 3.8l or v8 4.8l? Wondering if those 18" 305/35 Nittos are safe if put in a V6 3.8L. I heard the 255's are the limit on a V6 3..8l without losing engine performance....
Absolutely. Easily. Seen it done. Love American Muscle but these numbers aren't even close to the car magazines of the day that tested these cars. Bone stock was sub 5.5 for 5 speed and 6.1 for auto convertible.
He says that's over half a second quicker than baseline, does he mean SECOND and a half? HUGE difference. Since when does a stock GT need 6.6 to get to sixty??
I put a 4.10 gear in my fox body and did not like it at all. I would be cruising at 55 mph on the highway but it sounded like I was wot all the time haha
Hmm hard to tell looks like the same view as the cruise and there is definitely a camera man holding that shaky ass camera during that. Can't see if there is one during the 0-60 cause there is too much glare. But either way it doesn't matter they are comparing their car before and after not to a different car which ran whatever brand new at whatever altitude/temp with whatever tires. They are trying to show improvements not quantitative values that you should get if you do the same.
Its got the 4.6 v8 man I don't know what that other comment is talking about. Gt is different than a v6 they have a 3.8 stock. The guy mentions gt in the vid. V8 man V8
Look everyone. Remember, this GT is AUTOMATIC!! Automatics are inherently slower than any manual! Obviously, the numbers are going to look off a bit. If you payed attention, you would have heard him say that it is auto.
Why waste money on new tires? My Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z II Tire - 275/40-17 tires dont even spin unless you power break, and I have 4.10s also. You guys should make a How To on auto to manual swaps, I will be doing it soon and theres hardly anything to help on the web.
sorry but I call bs unless you have a good amount done to your car. And I have to agree with the 6.6 0-60 they claim. when they were new they were rated at 5.4 sec. This was a 12 year old car with a auto trans so 6.6 is pretty good.
thomas H looks more like a 5.5/6.0 0-60 to me. I watched it in 0.25 slow mo and you take off 1.5sec into the video and hit 60 just after the 7 sec mark. still pretty fast for an old car. but your video kinda proves my point you have a full bolt on 5sp gt and they have a stock auto gt so there 6.6 0-60 is pretty accurate.
I had my gf (at the time) record and stop watch it for me and she hit the timer as soon as i nailed it which was around 2 seconds and hit 60 like a hair before 7 seconds. My second gear stretches close to 70... i did 3 pulls and i put the pull with the best time on here. Which was 4.87. A stock 5 speed 01 gt hits 60 in 5.3-5.6 depending on the weather and who is driving the car.. My family has had multiple mustangs, we start them at stock and put full bolt ons on them and see how they do at the track. I know what i ran lol and i know its under 5
If autos suck so bad, thn y are newer race/drag cars auto? Its because a shifting kit can shift faster than a human. Stock for stock the auto is a tad bit slower, but a shifting kit makes the shifts faster than a human could possibly do
Lmao people be saying 6.6 is slow. While that might not be something to be proud of, most people don't understand that a 4 speed will never accelerate as fast as a 5 speed.
The driver lets off in the 2nd run, time it hit second gear, so this is either a fake video or thats the1st Mustang in the world that can wind 1st gear to 60 MPH. My 2014 auto Gt w/315 gears shifts out of 1st about 40 at 6500 rpm's
tjats funny im to much of an idot to drive a standard well lets see i jave a 98 f150 with a 5speed and a sebring lxi thats a 5speed and i had an 02 audi tt quattro with the 6speed and ov never had to replace a clutch and i sold that woth 225k miles and my auto mustang would destroy any car you got why do mustang ppl gotta find stuff with there own cars to hate on you dont see chevy guys doing it...
I love mustangs but this is just sad. My tuned 2014 avenger is faster then this with a v6 fwd. I was looking to getting one of these as a project but looking at all the money you spend to just get a 5.9 60 just plain out sucks. My avenger daily driver hits 60 in 5.5 secs using my t1000 tuner. Sigh. I was expecting better.
94-04 GTs suck when it comes to acceleration. I used to have a mach 1 and lemme tell you it was beast. If you want one of those go for the 4 valves of that era. Trust me you won't be disappointed.
1:40 Who else thought he was gonna install nitrous lol
JDMuscle 101 I thought AM finally snapped and was about to drop a 200 Shot on that poor thing. “YOUR GONNA MAKE OVER 300WHP TODAY BITCH” lol
Lol i did 😂😂😂😂

5 seconds, good job. what most cars do today is what was in 2000.
Its funny how he warms up the tires on the second test but not on the first hmm

everyone bashes autos my 01 gt is an auto and mine runs consistantly between 4.7 and 5 sec flat 0-60
Cap
Because autos are faster

Does the auto need a tune with 4.10 gears?
you guys have to do a 99-04 but manual
Damn straight!
Damn straight!
Damn straight!
Damn straight!
Damn straight!?
no he doesn't have a camera man in the 0-60 times test. the camera is stiffly mounted most likely with suction cup on passenger window pointing directly towards him. you can see there is no passenger when they switched camera angles...
I have a '03 GT 5 speed myself, and there are days I would love an auto. Don't worry man, most are haters.
so you mean to tell me that even with the shorter gears you hit 60 in first? because i heard no shifts
60 in 2nd for my gt
Keep doing what you do american muscle love the mustang gt 2 valve
automatics can be quick. new torque converter and shift kit. it will increase torque multiplication and shifts.
Now do a 04 gt stick
My mustang gt ( 2000 ) runs 4.3 seconds 0-60 I have a k&n air filter on it and I'm pretty sure it has a programmer on it , but that's what the last owner said to me.
i think the 2nd run would been faster but he let off the throttle as it was pulling in first. i heard shift into 2nd then back into first
I'd say 6 seconds stock and I have all of these same bolt ons plus under drive pulleys and a torque converter and I can tell you the converter wakes these fuckers up especially with a j mod which I have also.
You guys need to do these series with a 99/01 cobra
You guys should do a steering wheel swap how to... I hate the stock one
Why was the initial test performed without loading the Converter? Seems like a biased comparison.
all this car needs is a good torque converter with those 410s looking at a 5.3 second 0 to 60 and mid 13s or maybe low 13 with minor bolt ons
Nathan Lopez no. lol.
I think so
Absolutely. Easily. Seen it done. Love American Muscle but these numbers aren't even close to the car magazines of the day that tested these cars. Bone stock was sub 5.5 for 5 speed and 6.1 for auto convertible.
99-01 cobra build up!!!
you guys should do a build on the older 5.0 foxbody's
Will the gears fit for the base model ?
I feel like they left a few additions out to contribute the grip
keep in mind he didn't heat the tires on the first run. And he has a camera man in the passenger seat who probably weighs an extra 200 lbs.
Its only a quicker take off Cuz he was turning the tires the second time
Im iffy on getting 4.10 gears but I dont do alot of highway driving im just scared of it if I get them the high rpms
and if i really want to i can do the conversion i got a 6 speed from a cobra to swap in already but since its my daily driver im holding off
He says that's over half a second quicker than baseline, does he mean SECOND and a half? HUGE difference. Since when does a stock GT need 6.6 to get to sixty??
ikr
+bailey GT I'd think the auto would do 5.8 sec 0-60
02 gt what would be a better gear 4.10 or 3.73 looking to leave who lined up next to at the line not just rubber
4.10 3.73 will leave you wanting more
373
Half a second and how much money did you spend on that ?
I put a 4.10 gear in my fox body and did not like it at all. I would be cruising at 55 mph on the highway but it sounded like I was wot all the time haha

you can see where he messed up he started the timer before accelerating making it about a second slower
"Hey guys, the track isn't open today, so we might not be able to do the 0-60 test"...someone pops up..."parking lot?" :)
Its got the 4.6 v8 man I don't know what that other comment is talking about. Gt is different than a v6 they have a 3.8 stock. The guy mentions gt in the vid. V8 man V8
Is the 1998 a unibody?
nice tires want some for my 14' gt
really wish i could win the make over contest for my stang
Same bro😅😅😅
My 2001 automatic GT with just CAI and flowmaster glasspacks does 0-60 in 5.8...
you guys better do the forced lube modification on that that shaft housing or your gonna burn up the bushing in no time
do the 96-98 pleaseeee.
daniel0771 94-98 bro
5.5 with manual transmission a little slower with the automatic
Look everyone. Remember, this GT is AUTOMATIC!! Automatics are inherently slower than any manual! Obviously, the numbers are going to look off a bit. If you payed attention, you would have heard him say that it is auto.
My stock 01 auto Gt (besides exhaust) goes 0-60 in 5.9.
If you're ever going to supercharge it then stay with 3.73 gears
Why waste money on new tires? My Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z II Tire - 275/40-17 tires dont even spin unless you power break, and I have 4.10s also. You guys should make a How To on auto to manual swaps, I will be doing it soon and theres hardly anything to help on the web.
sorry but that way off 0-60.. 6.6 are you serious ? a 2000 stock civic si does it 6.6 my gt hit 0-60 in 4.87
sorry but I call bs unless you have a good amount done to your car. And I have to agree with the 6.6 0-60 they claim. when they were new they were rated at 5.4 sec. This was a 12 year old car with a auto trans so 6.6 is pretty good.
i have a video of a 0-90 (granny shifting) and i timed it and the most accurate time was 4.87. Its a full bolt on 01 gt
thomas H looks more like a 5.5/6.0 0-60 to me. oh really i didnt know your GT could do 0-60 faster than my 01 cobra lol. unless your car is heavily modded your way off.
step one turn traction control off. step 2 turn over drive off.... try again for better results
my car hooks on stock tire.sorry
What size rims are on this Mustang?
jermz999
They look like a nice set of 18inch.
No to 410 gears unless you willing to lose mpg
If autos suck so bad, thn y are newer race/drag cars auto? Its because a shifting kit can shift faster than a human. Stock for stock the auto is a tad bit slower, but a shifting kit makes the shifts faster than a human could possibly do
Hell yeah!
make some videos on fox body's
they you go somebody has some brains that would be a cool set of videos
thank you lol glad someone agrees
6.6? the manual 99 gt goes 0-60 in 5.5
i think all v8 mustangs should only come in stick
save the auto for the v6s
you are right!
Looks like it is an automatic, plus his light launch.
my 04 v6 goes 0-60 in 7.0
Same
Think he messed up 6.66 to 5.09 is NOT half a second.
ear rape at 3:22 RIP headphone users
They definitely need a tune on them. they are absolute dogs without it
Imagine if they would've done a j mod and stall... 5.1 or less easily.
Lmao people be saying 6.6 is slow. While that might not be something to be proud of, most people don't understand that a 4 speed will never accelerate as fast as a 5 speed.
A 4 speed will def accelerate faster than any manual with a stall and shift kit
Stick+driver mod= faster 0-60
honestly the reason its so slow to 60 is because its automatic they should of done a 5 speed
xarnoldx10 Automatics have faster shift times. It was the gear ratio.
@@TraitorPotater old automatics like that are slow af dude
True asf :(
@@TraitorPotater these old automatics are slow
@@mikethelegend1101 Build the car and it won’t be slow. Mine gets to 60 between 4 and 5 seconds.

it's a 1999.. you can't compare to your 2014... not even close to same gearing..
at 30 your have no worries about that car breaking loose out of control lol
3 years later this stands true lol. That car would have dead hooked with the 4.10s but the stock tires lol
6.6 is not average for 0-60 thats fersure..dude cant even drive an auto, he didnt even punch it..it should hit like a 5.7
AUTOMATIC 99-04 GT's are DOGS!
theres no way that a stock gt would do a 6.6
6.6?? Hell no! Autos do like 5.8
Let's install nitrous and fuck the motor up lol
justin is sort of a corny host i am sorry to admit it but it's true
0 to 60 in 5.9 wtf stock is 5.4 with a manual. Slow ass automatic.
260 BHP = 222 RWHP
thank the lord! i was going to say there is no way my mild bolt on gt goes 0-60 in 6 seconds o.O
Yeah, this one is Auto
You didn't even get it up to 60
No, you can't "secretly" supercharge a car.

Yeah, lets add on a $350 tune. lol
these cars are slower than i thought :/
Good video but i don't like these kind of mustang
5.9 with that many add ons? Thats terrible! Stick with the Manual!
I love mustangs but this is just sad. My tuned 2014 avenger is faster then this with a v6 fwd. Go for a Mach 1 or (my favorite) the cobra. Both are 4v instead of 2v and accept performance parts much better.
94-04 GTs suck when it comes to acceleration. I used to have a mach 1 and lemme tell you it was beast. If you want one of those go for the 4 valves of that era. Trust me you won't be disappointed.
The 03-04 terminator cobra is known to dyno around 360-400 hp bone stock. They are rated at 390hp though. If you can afford it, get the cobra!
Dude, it's a 4 speed Automatic... What the hell were you expecting...
Texarmageddon my venge is a auto to. So whats your point. It just amazes me how technology has changed so much for cars.
It wasn't a very good one. If anything they'd just lie about power increases.
Why auto
