I am a 56 year old, female, marketing manager. Never used a drone before. I got this to learn and to prove to my client that we should shoot drone footage of their build projects. I paid just $59.95 for it through Walmart on Cyber Monday. Cool, cheap and easy.
D. Mills now YOU Know what your talking about !! I have a few more expensive drones but this tellow. Is my go to drone for quick Pics .. fast and easy to get up in the air .and you do not need to register because it’s under the Weight. Limit
I guess many of you already have figured this out...but if you get a cheap WiFi extender like the Xiaomi Mi 2, you get way better performance in distance and height, and also get rid of most of the transfer drop outs in the video recording. Phones and tablets have pretty poor WiFi range.
I had a mavic air before I had a tello. Honestly I get way more enjoyment from the tello. The mavic can take awesome video and pictures and fly almost a mile away, but I don't really need all that. I stick the tello in my saddle bag and a few batteries in my pocket and when the moment strikes me I take it out, give it a toss and hand land it to put it back in my saddle bag. Dose what I need it to and I'm not constantly in fear that something will happen to it.
I kind of disagree Its a camera drone. Not a pro camera drone. If you are new to drones I would say this should be your first camera drone. Yes there are better camera drones out there but this thing is so small you could fly it in places( legally ) where bigger and louder drones get a lot of attention from onlookers or paranoid people. 5MP camera is not the best but its good. 720 is still good for video. You can go a little bit further and have a better signal if you get a wifi repeater that they sell. I think Ryze made a great beginner camera drone for beginners that is easy to fly very stable without GPS. Now if you have to have 1080P or 4k then this is not for you. If you want an inconspicuous camera drone that can get ok images and video of you and your family on a trip or a picnic where you may be around other people who may have a problem with bigger drones.
I definitely agree. This is an ideal first drone for anyone not to mention its capability to be programmed with your own coding using Scratch. None of the other starter drones under $100 are as stable as the Tello either. I bought all three of my kids one for Christmas and, of course, I also had to get myself one. :) Never too old to learn coding.
If you take a little time for composing a shot or video you may get some above average results with this tiny little drone especially for things like Instagram. I always crank up the bitrate to 4Mbit (it's set to automatic by default) in settings first which results in more dropped frames at higher distances but produces some more than adequate results for Instagram or social media sharing. I've been using this thing for a week now and so far I'm impressed. Due to its sice I can easily take it everywhere and it's ready to fly in seconds for a quick selfie shot etc.
Don’t forget that those brushed motors only give about 5 hours of run time before they die. Brushed motors are cheap (if you buy after market-highly suggested0 and easy to replace but soldering may be required.
What the Tello has done is create a new "paradigm" for small drones. The Tello is the leader now with its stability and features. Anything new will try to at least do what the Tello does. This is a great thing and will move small drone characteristics forward. Already we know what we want in a Tello 2, if there is one: Brushless motors, more features and longer battery life. The current Tello, though, has set a new standard to follow in drone technology.
@@fourwheelinfotainment made by volatello tello fpv it costs 6 bucks bbut its well worth it it gives you more options and lets you see how far and high its flying in real time
About a month ago I bought the Mavic Air and it was a deal where the Tello came with it. I had already had a trainer drone which was a DBPower X400W. It was a super bad drone with no stabilization. But it was the best trainer drone because the controls were so touchy and if I crashed, I’d pick it up, but the battery back in and fly it more. But the tello I think is actually the perfect trainer drone if you are thinking about getting a DJI drone. The software is similar and the controls are exactly the same.
Got my Mavic Air today. Thanks for your videos showing how fun it can be. Took it out for a few min. before it got dark right after work. So much fun!!!
I have a Tello. And yes it is very stable. I feel this drone makes a GREAT selfie drone! I just thought about that. It's great for being able in INCLUDE MYSELF in pictures without looking obvious of me in that picture holding the remote in my hand!

I live in a highrise apartment with tight corners and of course, no yard and I have had more fun with this little gem than any other drone in its category and or price range. if you are sitting on the fence just jump and get this drone. also, do yourself a favor and get the t1d or similar remote and just enjoy. my only complaint was, I thought the companies involved ...mega corporations you know who you are, could have sprung for a micro USB charger, a little tight assed i thought. cool review dude see you in the air.
I understand you mention its not a camera drone..but for travelling with my family we want something we can bring, i dont want to get in trouble for getting anything more 250grams which in most cases is the legal limit not to get permits. Like mine too, but other toys get more fight time because I think I like the tactile controls better. I'm going to have to get a controller. It is way cool though. It is so stable that my pit bulls will walk right under it hovering. Not so much with say my ScharkSpark toy drone. Having said that, I like flying the ScharkSpark better and playing grown up photog with the tello.
I saw a video where a man doing FPV with the Tello through several rooms of the house. At the time, he used the Gamesir T1D. At the end of the video, this guy suggests T1D or T1S. Does the drone (with or without obstacles) of the drone also be influenced by the gamepad type? Which one would be the best? To what extent would a signal amplifier increase the creak? Thankful.
I mean you can fly it around with a gamepad. I don't think signal amplifiers would help much, even if they could get it to fly farther away I wouldn't want it to go too far. Its so tiny it could easily get lost in the wind.

Its official. We've come to the point where 720p HD is considered terrible, and an entire review revolves around its lack of 1080p.
@@DickRileyTheConquistador the 720p isnt the problem its the lag when your connection has issues
