I really appreciate this runcast for a couple reasons! One being, I am planning to have my first fight in about six months from now and although I have been sparring for years, I am so nervous!!! It’s very gratifying to hear a highly seasoned fighter such as you talk about how this is normal and not a bad thing 🙏
I also appreciate the discussion of “natural”; your comparison to language is a lot like how I compare Muay Thai to playing music. If you are learning guitar, you need to learn how to place your fingers on the instrument, how to use your left-hand to fret, and then your right hand to pick the notes, and do both at the same time, and then move positions to other notes, to create a melody. And when you are not used to that, it feels extremely uncomfortable. You work at it and work at it and you get the feel for this stuff. But when it comes time to play the song, you have to sort of throw all that cerebral mechanical stuff out the window: the quality of the music is not expressed by perfect execution of these technical mechanisms, but in the spirit that is animating that mechanism. It must flow free and unobstructed. This is why we might hear a singer totally bearing their soul while they perform a song, and even though they’re not hitting their notes perfectly or they’re flat or off time or something, we are not paying attention to that stuff, it doesn’t matter, and this technically imperfect but natural singer will absolutely sound better than a technically perfect but robotic less passionate singer.

I've just read Freud 'interpretation of dreams' and thought it/his perspectives absolutely crazy, what a strange coincidence you mention a jungian dream analyst! Cool

Thank you so much for these, especially the mental techniques and understandings. I'm going into my 3rd fight this next month and the feeling is wild because I don't have the same fear or anxiety I did before, but now it's another degree of fear and anxiety. Like the feeling is there, but I guess it's more familiar? And other thoughts are coming up too more on how to develop my techniques, etc. So I love it when you talk about your preparations, and affirmations and such because it provides me with confirmation on how I'm feeling, but also helps me see things in a more cerebral way.

Love the meandering thoughts alongside the meandering feet 😁. Great insights as ever, thanks for sharing sister 🙏. But please, do tell, were the beasties okay? That finished rather abruptly and without knowing if everyone made it safely across the road 😬. 😎

@johnbradford9235 they got across the street and down an alley, as I finished my heart attack.

Natural: "adequate result obtained with just enough energy, not too quickly (to stay in control) and not too slowly (to be on time)".
