well the marked version got demonetised by youtube for some reason (probably youtube prefers the real me haha) ... so here is the reupload, and besides I haven't uploaded any video recently due to the struggles on my personal issue and relationship, so just to pop my head up to show you guys that I am still alive and kicking.

    Thanks,

You do know burning S8 makes sulpherous acid (H2SO3) not sulphuric acid (H2SO4) right? It needs a second oxidation step to be made from sulphur.

Sam Winfield in that case just replace distilled water with H2O2 , the setup can still be used .

Watching this to try to make a solution to work with my hair gloss 😭 I need hydrogen peroxide, water, and phosphoric acid. I may be able to go without it but I fear it is mainly used for PH balance. Pretty sure soda has phosphoric acid, but I’m hesitant to put soda in my hair. Someone pls tell me if hydrogen peroxide and water will be okay with hair gloss.

very good video! once had the same problem with my P .... but I have so much H3PO4 that this reaction was nothing i wanted to do. So i burned it anyway XD mixed with some iodine to get it started without using a lighter.
    keep on the good work

    quel verre utilises-tu?

whouldnt it be easier to decompse an phosphat salt with HCL or H2SO4 to get the phosphoric acid? It can easily displaced with stronger acids.

yes you can, but that way you have distill it later to obtain pure phosphoric acid, and the purpose of this video is mainly to flex that just how much red P i have

And... can you source this " RAV 4 " Is it, indeed, red phosphorus?

Do you keep phosphoric acid in glass?

    • @AussieChemist
      @AussieChemist  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

most of the acid can be stored in glass

What can this acid be mainly used for? Also, how did you manage to obtain the red phosphorous?

AtHomeScience H3PO3 itself doesn’t really have many use for amateur chemists, H2SO4 can do everything it can but so much more. For the Red P , not gonna lie ,I just buy them online, haha😂 don’t just go online and start looking up, provided if you can find them at all, it really depends on the laws of where you lives, since you live in US I believe, the chances are that a dozen of DEA agents are gonna knock on your door and scare the holy Jesus out of you and your family probably your neighbor included so don’t do it kid( well I’m not much older than you tbh)

From the home chemist's perspective, it is primarily useful for synthesizing oleum from H2SO4 and organoiodides from alcohols.

If you just want to perform these procedures, it would be much less expensive to just buy 85% H3PO4. It can be found in many places: hydroponics stores, food stores, chemical suppliers etc for low prices
Also, if you live in the EU (as I do), you could buy red P from onyxmet. It is one of the best suppliers out there. If you live in the US, be careful ordering red P from onyxmet because it might be illegal

Excellent to use on rust turning that ugly iron oxide into iron phosphate, which is inert and paintable. So it's actually a chemical bond to boot!

"I would go through the effort to purify it if this was all i had left, but i have loads of it" gee man... Flexin on us amateurs. Lol - kidding. Great video!

Kinda weird to burn precious red P for cheap H3PO4. The opposite direction would have been much more interesting for the most.
