Mould Making and Casting - 01 Silicone and Putty

Mixed results in this video where I'm trying out a couple of ideas for making moulds and casting High Elf shields from the 90's. These parts are hard to get now so I'm going to try out a few techniques to see if I can make a good quality replica and cast enough to use for the painted miniatures.
Here I'm using a two part silicone putty from Green Stuff World to create the mould, then trying out Tamiya Putty to cast the shields. This is more of an experiment rather than an example of how to do it. The mould doesn't quite come out as good as it needs to (user error), and the cast shields are not what I'm wanting in terms of quality.
The Tamiya Putty is not intended for this application, its meant for filling small gaps and tends to shrink as it dries, but I like the convenience and speed and for something as delicate as these old shield designs I think I need something similar to squeeze in the mould to get a good result.
The obvious choice is to use a Milliput type putty but this tends to be harder to work with. I'll maybe give that a go as an alternative. Beyond this maybe a two part silicone mould with a pouring resin is something to move onto.

Try using sprue goo. It should be stronger once set over night and less brittle.

Thanks, I've seen that method before and it looks like an interesting way to use old sprues. Quite a chemistry project, but I guess all of these things are!

You should show us how you sculpted those little skeletons and shields.

Sorry those parts are original from the early 90s and are hard to find now, especially the shields. So I am trying to replicate them using various techniques. Thanks
