Hubba Bubba Ash Wastes Walker - 02 Painting and weathering

- I complete the Hubba Bubba Ash Wastes walker in this video, starting with some air brushing that leads to an interesting accidental painting effect. Then its on to the weathering using enamel panel liners and other products.
I also create a scenic base to finish off the model. Hopefully there are some useful things shown in the video and that it demonstrates how almost any piece of plastic recycling can be used as a basis for some scratch building and kit bashing. Definitely have a go!

Just happened upon Your video, Fantastic work Sir! I just subscribed! Thank You for sharing with Us! I really like what You did with this build! How the paint worked out is awesome! Love the crab referencing! Very impressive work, I will be watching!
Hey thanks for finding the channel! All welcome, and hopefully I can make a few more of these types of builds. To be honest it’s a case of coating something with super glue then rolling it in the bits box and seeing what comes out 😅 . I do have some more planned though, mixed in with other painting projects.
Beautiful work mate. Thank you for all the great tips and tricks!
You're welcome! Thanks for the comment and I hope I can produce some more useful videos.
That all came together wonderfully bud, absolutely love the build, paint job and the irregularly shaped base looks great too.
Keep up the great work, carry on being awesome and take care.
The paint job just seemed to happen and work out overall, but to be fair the weathering products tend to pull it all together. I'll certainly keep doing these scratch build type projects, something I enjoy doing. Thanks
Captain Skyhawk was an AMAZING Nintendo game, by the way. Thanks for saving the world! Also, sweet robot walker! The weathering is PERFECT!
Yeah when I was trying to come up with some sort of silly name to use, I had a look over my NES collection and there are a few good ones - Bionic Commando etc! Ended up with Captain Skyhawk, which was a difficult game!!! Ambitious effect, but rock hard I thought.
Thanks for taking a look!
Awesome work, Im just starting my kitbash journey and i got some inspiration from yours.
They are great fun to do, and really almost anything will work - when you get the primer sprayed on and it unifies the whole model it seems to always end up looking good or interesting somehow. Go for it!
Awesome kitbash. Best part is how you made it out of improvisation
Yeah I am really glad I went with the walker style of kitbash, rather than a skimmer or hovering craft... helps with the overall theme I think for a ash wastes exploration vehicle.
Interesting!
It's a nice change of pace from their usual use as Star Wars shield generators in dioramas.
Bravo pour le travail. Et merci pour le partage
No problem and thanks very much for watching and leaving a comment. Much appreciated!
Really amazing. I hoarded some of these Hubba Bubba containers to build "generators" for Necromunda but I never thought of something like this 😮.
Hey that’s a great idea for the generators. These hubba bubba container halves would be ideal sitting upright. The ridges in their circumference look perfect for that. Star Wars ion cannons and all that! Cool
@@CaptainSkyhawkHobbies I didn't come up with that idea myself but stole it from somebody else on YT... 🤣. I wasn't even aware of those Hubba Bubba containers before that but immediately ordered a 12-pack online 🤣.
...soon after I found them in the local super market that is my main source of groceries 😁🤡
You sir are a genius. I love this build. I may have to have a go myself at making one or two or three. Keep up the great builds.
Thanks a lot, but its all accidental and a case of just gluing bits together - if they look like they fit then I just glue them and see what happens. Definitely give it a go!
Fantastic build, cracking paint job!
Hey thanks for taking a look. Not sure how much control I had over the paint job, sort of does its own thing! Fun to do though.
Sweet build! Your narration is great also 🙂
Thank you very much, especially regarding the narration - I find it very difficult to discuss what I am doing while filming, and harder to listen back! Cheers
that IS AWESOME!!
👍
magnificent
I love your work. Question, the two miniatures you show at the end of your video around the 26 minute mark where are they from?
Thanks, the miniatures are called Kolony Ferals by Pig Iron Productions. And I have glued Biohazard Heads by Max Mini to those bodies. The bodies are metal, and the heads are resin.
The thumbnail made me click, no regrets!
I think this model would benefit from some lubricant drips on the pistons and under carriage. Maybe some adhered ground color dust and black soot. It's looking very dry. Awesome job.
Hey thanks for the comments and advice, I have certainly things to improve upon with these paint jobs (and builds). Cheers
Really cool build 😊👍🏻
Thanks very much, if it does look cool then it’s purely accidental!
Fantastic build, fantastic paint job.
The weathering is out of this world.
I just stumbled upon your channel, ....I subscribed.
Great work.
Thanks for sharing!!!
Hey thanks very much for that. Really appreciated. To be honest the paint job (and the build to be fair) just sort of happened without much direction from me! Cheers!
