Hello friends and welcome to another video! So, late last year we decided to take the plunge and move across the country for a fresh start in a new place. After doing some serious decluttering, we packed up our house, grabbed our cat, and hit the road (and vlogged our whole cross-country road trip in our minivan!) It's been a couple of months and we are finally set up enough to dive back into making videos, so here is our moving vlog! Hopefully you guys enjoy it, and thank you for being so patient with us while we figure all of this out.
Also, sorry about any smudginess of the windshield! It was tough to keep clean on our drive, but I know sometimes it can look gross, so sorry about that! Lol

I MISS YOU SAFIYA!!!
Love you!!
Welcome to NC friends!
Already loving the video! Cant wait to have you guys back! ❤️
I’m so happy you posted again Safiya!!
the fact that crusty looks constantly disgruntled is my favorite thing about this video
he's got resting crust face
th-cam.com/video/iZFGgw2rKKI/w-d-xo.html
So adorable! That's a very long road trip too, but the fact they're doing it to just prioritise Crusty's happiness and health makes me like them even more. 😁
I loved Tyler’s joke as Crusty: “wow, this vet is very far away”
Crusty looks like his lips are stuck on his teeth, but he's all gums.
Tyler's dad tracking the weather along their trip and calling with a warning about the ice storm is just about the cutest thing ever and also peak Dad.
Dads are the best. From what I hear... lol.
Loved it! We driver 12 hours to new jersey even year to see my grandparents, he used to ask for our mile marker every other hour to track us and give us warnings on wrecks and what not, with today's tech I just send him our live location and he keeps it pulled up on his computer till we arrive ♡♡
In Oklahoma and texas, they are no joke!!! People die every year from them because these states refuse to winterize. Source-texan who worked in road service for 8 years
I sadly don't even remember this ice storm, lol. All other storms kinda got overshadowed by the EPIC blizzard in February...

Thanks for all the likes🌸💗--I’ve been very concerned and worried hoping they have been ok through the pandemic I know it’s been so hard on everyone. Some YTers have been expressing it and vlogging it more frequently and others have gone dark as they reconfigure their lives. I’m so happy to see them on their new journey ♥️✨💗
As a pet owner, the fact that Crusty's comfort was a factor in the decision to drive across the country during the move, makes me SO happy.
iloveyou
This is true, but also true is that driving provides them with material for a video.
@@TechGirl84 you are right about footage; Crusty died changing from one environment to the next. It happens with humans, too, if older.
@@The2727ash maybe that was a factor, but Crusty was about 21 years old. That’s really old for a cat. I think a big part of it was that he died of old age.
Crusty was, unfortunately, already having health issues long before they moved. He was quite old, and the change from the west coast to the east coast had little to nothing to do with his passing. The biggest reason we found out so much about his health problems was that the Livestream audience constantly asked about him. So, we got weekly updates.
Just wanted to say I really appreciate anyone with a platform coming out to just say "we're not doing well here right now" as a valid reason to make a change. Thanks Safiya!
👏👏👏
Right it’s super valuable
Have people said its not?
True! I also watched rachel and jun's moving video and they also moved to be closer to their support system. I'm glad things are working out for them
@@ashleydavis169 most influencers in my home country are posting about how they are "growing, improving and learning" during these times, because "if you never learned anything during lockdown, the problem is not the lack of time it is your lack of motivation" or some bs like that. It feels suffocating to fulfill that kind of expectations lmao
Tbh as a European it's mindblowing that Americans are so comfortable with driving for so long, if I were to drive for 40 hours I'd probably end up somewhere in Russia lol
Omg I thought the same!
If I were to drive 40 hours from my country I'd probably end up in China and that's weird to think abt tbh
I was just thinking that!
Also how they said they want to live closer to family and now they live like 6,5 hours from Tyler's parents
innit. my dad can only drive 4 hours at most, i feel sick on lomg car journeys as well so that wouldn’t help
This is peak relatable content: realizing two days into traveling that if you don't eat a vegetable immediately, you're going to lose your mind, and saying "cows!" every time you see a cow.
Also staying at the Best Western on a road trip!
If you’ve not already seen it I highly recommend you watch the video of Queen Liz seeing a cow
Yup, relatable af. I always pack fresh fruit, canned tuna, peanut butter, crackers, and possibly boiled eggs so I've got emergency rations. We live around Charlotte, NC so we did trips into the Blue Ridge Mountains in VA a lot when I was a kid. If my dad wasn't in such poor health I'd love to take him now because I know he'd love it. Well that and packing up all 4 cats because we just couldn't leave them...
Or horses but mostly cows
i yell hamburgers when i see a cow. i know it’s terrible but i can’t stop 😞
Idk if Safiya and Tyler get enough credit for being the absolute top example there could possibly be of a healthy, committed relationship. This is the type of partnership everyone should aim for. When people say "marry your best friend", this is the epitome. I know a lot of your viewers are younger and it is SO important that they see this level of healthy communication and affection. It's also important for people more like me whose last relationship may not have been a good one. It makes me so happy to see both of you happy together. Thank you for sharing these glimpses of your lives with us.
@@ObsidianRose10 I'm in the same situation. I wish you all happiness! 😊
You see a couple of minutes of someone else's life and you think it's perfect. Nothing is perfect. They are a normal couple that no doubt argues, sulks and do whatever other couples do.
@@WellISaidIt I mean there is literally hours upon hours of footage from their streams of them interacting with each other. There is a lot of unhealthy representation of relationships in social media so it's always nice to see healthy realistic relationships. No one said they dont argue and do stuff we don't see but why do you have to be a Debbie Downer because someone is grateful for healthy dynamics on social media?
@@HirakoKuyo unrealistic can be both positive and negative. Both would do equal amounts of harm. If you are basing what a relationship should be like do it with people in your life and not online.
Every one had Ned from the try guys as the perfect relationship goals and see what happened there. He was cheating on his wife.
It's not being a Debby Downer as you put it, it's being realistic. You have no idea what their relationship dynamics are off of TH-cam, you only see what people want you to see but if you want to keep your head in the clouds then that is your prerogative.
@@WellISaidIt then everyone should have relationships the way they portray it

Let’s all take a moment to appreciate the fact that Safia and Tyler drove across the US for multiple reasons but first and foremost was to do what was best for their cat. That’s almost too wholesome.

That was so wholesome 😭
Yep! People rehome peta because they’re moving. When you truly love your pet you will take them with you!

I'm the kind of person who revisits the same videos and tv shows over and over for a sense of comfort. This video is in that arsenal. While I have rewatched many of Saf's videos, this one in particular gives me a particular sense of comfort and familiarity. Saf and Tyler's funny and sweet dynamic, Crusty, gorgeous views and locations, there's just something about this video that brings me calm and happiness.
First time in my life found someone with whom I can relate. I do the same thing. I keep watching same shows and videos again and again. It kind of makes me feel safe. And Safiya's videos are definitely some of them.
I am totally the same, 2 years later! Now I've added the 2 'Staying at all of the hotels on the Vegas Strip' videos, they're majestically long & comforting lol
My son died about a month after this video was released. When I’m having a bad day, I rewatch this video. Brings me comfort. I agree with the commenter above about this video making me feel safe. It’s like an old friend.
I rewatch it very often too. There's something truly special about this one. It's like a road trip home video.

The scenery by the roadside, the buildings and architecture in the towns is truly amazing and makes me wanna visit. Kudos to you for showing another side of America
I sometimes Google map travel and there's so much empty space in the US it's incredible. I love the small towns.
Honestly a lot of people from other countries are more drawn to New York City Los Angeles Miami etc. but there’s so many other beautiful places to visit in the United States it really is a big country a lot of people fail to realize that and so diverse with its people food environment everything someone from New York can be completely different from somebody in let’s say Arizona.
Small towns are literally the best part of America. No joke. I've lived all over the country (10 states from arizona to florida up to Wyoming and Minnesota, and all over. I've lived in the 3rd largest city in the US as well as the 5th smallest city in the US, and trust me small towns are way prettier. The goal is to find small towns near (60 miles or less) of the cities.

When people think of america they mostly have la, nyc and maybe san francisco in their head but there is a whole other side to it and this applies to every country
I agree so much! I never had the urge to visit the US, but seeing all these nature shots makes me wanna go to California and all those other states so bad. Not for the cities, but for the mountains. I never thought I'd actually wanna do the classic Route 66 trip, but now I do.
Don’t know why this video is so intriguing, but it is. Love the vibe of this couple. I’m a cat person, so the addition of crusty is interesting to me. Crusty is traveling really well. The scenery is great. And in addition I was born in Texas. This is 2 years ago, I’m just now catching up.
them making a 40 hour trip: takes 6 days, enjoy themselves a bit
my fam: 20 hours per day, never stop, pain.
I felt that. Add in camping sometimes because it's cheaper, even though it's below freezing, they didn't prepare for that, and there's a hotel a few miles away.
Yep.
We're from Québec.
We went to live for couple weeks with family.
For them, it takes 8 hours to come to our house.
For us, 11 hours. We have a daughter tho.
But I can't imagine taking the road for this much time and not making enjoyable!
We once had a four day drive. We barely stopped. My parents actually would switch seat so one could drive while the other drove. We stopped at a trucker motel once. It was very bad. Cockroaches everywhere shit on the walls and the Bedlinen had very suspicious stains on them. Oh yeah and I got a very awful brother.
@@TUMunich I feel you!
We went in Florida when I was a teenager, it takes 2 days. We did it in one, because my father wouldn't stop. He was even bothered when we had to go to the bathroom!
I remember, on the way back, he was mad that we wanted to eat. He waited for us in the car while we ate.
Roadtrips with family aren't always fun hahaha

I just can't believe I watched 40 mins of them just driving and absolutely wanted more of it.
I wanted it to be longer too! Hope there's a bonus video!
tyler: There‘s frost outside
safiya: it‘s like 22 degrees outside
*quick european confusion*
Edit: Oh god I feel like some of you in this thread don't understand: I was playing at the fact that Safiya was obviously referring to 22 degrees fahrenheit. As a european I thought it was celcius in the first second which is why I was confused about the frost (22 degrees fahrenheit is -5 degrees celcius which is why the frost makes sense xD)
22 celsius is like the maximum of heat my body can stand, everything over just melts me, so I get you, totally, European also, Polish

as a german who's never been outside of europe this video kinda helped me to get kind of a feel for the landscape of different states! america is so huge, man
Many tour guides will have you skipping philadelphia. But Philly has a robust public arts program and I highly recommend it as well as the Franklin museum and the museum of art!!
@@0rganist why would tour guides skip Philadelphia?! It's the birth place of our constitution!
Glad you see it now Americans get so much hate for our transportation but it is so huge here!
America is almost as big as Europe. It's 4,313 km wide! Texas alone is 268,820 square miles, larger than Germany (137,993) haha! That's my state and even I haven't seen all of it. It's too big. I've taken a road trip from the southern tip of Texas (where I live close to the border with Mexico) north to North Dakota near the Canadian border and it took a little over 3 days to get there.
You should come travel here ! Also, I’ve always wanted to go to Germany, what’s it like there?
Am i the only one who appreciates how healthy they're relationship is? I know couples that are constantly at each others throats, but they seem to have a loving and caring relationship. These were big states, but with some of the smaller Eastern states you can easily go through 3-5 states in one day.
Yeah it was beautiful

Yeah, same, it was great to see the sights across the US, and have our own li’l road trip with them.

As a cat owner, I'm happy you guys had one last adventure with Crusty. It always makes me emotional to know you made so many memories with him through this.
I feel like those who are trying to learn English would love these videos because Safiya enunciates so well :D
And her videos are close captioned!
Yes! And she has captions :o (not auto-generated!! :D )
That's correct! Safiya is great for non-native speakers. Especially because she doesn't simplify things, she doesn't dumb down her vocab, instead she adds captions and enunciates well. Which helps a non-native speaker who wants to learn much, much more.
Yeah
Yeah that's true. I'm Finnish and when I first started watching English-speaking youtubers, it was really hard to understand them because of fast and unclear talking. Safiya was one of my faves back then, and still is :)
I think we all know now what their priorities were with this road trip, don't get COVID and make Crusty comfortable at all costs.
I think it's so sweet.

Yeah I originally started watching her from LadyLike. When she left I just naturally followed her here and have loved seeing how fast she grew in popularity. Her videos and personality are just so great. Also the way her and Tyler are is just perfect - definitely relationship goals.

A lot of people dump their cats at shelters claiming they can't move with them, so glad Crusty has a great forever family. Ya, super chill, most cats need to be in a carrier anytime they could possibly bolt. Love his eartip, shows he's fixed.

Crusty is the perfect cat for traveling. My cat would throw a tantrum, try to crawl in the front, would try to see what I'm doing with my feet and somehow manage to get us in a car crash.

@@camila_jc the thing that made me go "OH...that explains some things.." was changing boyfriends. Boyfriend A HATED subtitles and couldn't understand why I always wanted them. Boyfriend B doesn't care, so for the last 4 years I've been in subtitle heaven. Then we lived with his parents for a few months, who don't do subtitles. And having that contrast after several years of finally not feeling stressed out watching something I hadn't watched a dozen times already made it click.
In hindsight, there were signs everywhere if I'd known such a thing existed. I've never been able to just listen to a new song. I can't separate the words from the music. So the only parts I ever understood were pieces of the refrains because they got repeated. I misunderstood a lot things my teachers said because of background noises. If I'm in a place with several conversations going on at once (which is basically everywhere that's not my house) I can't listen to one conversation. I hear scattered words from each conversation.
Going to the movies was awful. I left nearly every movie asking dozens of questions to the person I went with trying to piece together the plot because I wasn't understanding enough of the words.
I rewatched dozens of movies I've seen multiple times and never understood. But this last time I rewatched with subtitles. It was astonishing how easy it was to understand them all of a sudden.
I'm guessing about 70% of the time when I'm responding to someone talking to me. I guess based on circumstances and relevance to what we were talking about a couple minutes before. It makes talking or listening to other people talk so much WORK. I'm exhausted after a day of it. But having an understanding partner now makes the world a different place. He waits for me to pause whatever I'm listening to so I can actually hear what he says. Every tv in our house is set to use subtitles. If he wants me to hear a new song we find one with the lyrics shown on the screen. If I think I'm hearing him but I'm actually guessing he'll realize before I do because my reply didn't make sense, and he'll ask what I thought I heard. Because "guessing " is such an automatic habit now I don't realize I'm doing it a lot.
And it's all a work in progress. He has impatient days and I have bad guessing days. But the constant anxiety of struggling to make sense fast enough of what's being said to or around me is so much less now.
& even then she has perfect subtitles on her vids !!!
(btw i suspect i have apd & to everybody: its fine if you dont enunciate words that clearly dont feel bad abt it !! thats not what the original commenter was saying n i want to make sure thats clear hehe)
