    How much money did I spend in this video? Make sure to watch until the end ;)

    I used to buy those disposable film cameras for my kids that had 24 shots. This was before smartphones. Seeing the world through a five year old’s perspective was pretty cool.

    My recommendation: sell that point&shoot and use that same amount of money to buy a fully mechanical, manual SLR from somewhere in the 70s/80s era. Pentax and Minolta have lots of affordable - because not yet hyped - options.

    • @mynameisrits
      @mynameisrits 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Came here to say this, if you do some digging you can probably get 2 slrs for the price of that point and shoot, or a body and 2 lenses.

    • @slr7075
      @slr7075 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      SLR systems are a slow downward spiral into excessive G.A.S. which is the main problem. One lens leads to adding another and couple to several hundred dollars later...

    • @mynameisrits
      @mynameisrits 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@slr7075 imo I’d rather have a bunch of lenses than a bunch of point and shoots that all do the same thing.

      Ebay often has the Vivitar 400SL , with a 50mm f1.9 lens and a 200mm telephoto for around $40. Fully mechanical with a light meter. Mine came with a flash and a case as well as a 2x teleconverter. Takes M42 mount lenses, of which there are a lot of really good beautiful options.

    I have one of these cameras. I bought it around 2018 at a flea market for 5 dollars, it worked really great, never over or underexposed any shots, almost always nailed focus, then just a few days ago without warning, it died. I've never enjoyed a point and shoot more than this specific one, and I'm probably going to buy another one.

    I've got the Bronica ETRS, such an underrated camera. Get the motor drive, it adds to the weight but makes it way more fun to use.

    Absolutely incredible. I've always like the more "soft" lenses on my rigs because they give them a more film look. Film images just have this life to them. I know they are less sharp images but they feel more real. Does that even make sense?

    Try using a variable ND Filter. The red light should light up when there is not enough light. So just adjust the filter in a way that the light turns off :)

    Nice video. I got my first one of these in 2010, I've bought 4 more since then so I'd always have one that worked. Other than one's flash not working they all still work. Great cameras.

    I currently own a few film cameras along with some digital ones of course. The best ones I use on a daily basis is either my Contax G1 with a 35mm lens which of course is rather pricey, however the best in terms of quality and price has to be my Canonet QL17 Giii Highly recommended this beautiful little rangefinder camera. Sharp 40mm 1.7 lens, built in light meter, and a slew of other little things that'll help beginners who are not used to shooting film
