I'd like to make a petition against the haunted house sound, the waterfall (especially), and all others using the "sh" noise. When I was younger I was a quiet kid, and I still am now. If I happened to be talking in class, everyone else was and I shut up pretty quickly. However, whenever the teacher made a "sh" noise, whether held out or repeated frequently, it would set me off. The sound is very annoying and must be stopped. It used to set my teeth a-grindin' and it still does. Anyone who uses the "sh" sound must be sh'd themselves.
My old teacher hated the sound too when she was a kid because a whole loud class wouldn’t hear one little shh (also because she was in the front so when teacher did the shh she got spit on her) so she would say “alright stop” and then the whole class would yell “hammer time!”. She liked 80s and 90s music. It definitely worked though, not sure how much better than the shh noise, but it worked.
I also used to really hate shushing. It was mostly a combination of me being a mostly quiet kid and the action itself sometimes coming off as rude if done in the right tone (aka "the waterfall").
i had teachers that would go “What sound does a waterfall make?” and then expecting the students to answer “Shhhhhhh..” and i hate that it actually worked
