This will hopefully cause the battery to generate just enough power. You run your wire leads off the positive and negative terminals to the katusha rocket. The rocket itself was rudimentary aimed at the Target area and propped up with a forked stick. When the sun came up the rocket would fire when the battery warmed up enough. Meanwhile Victor is back in his rack haven't eaten in his bowl of rice and sleeping. They also made toe poppers and probably myriad of other things

So, best way to look at it. 1887-1954 (French Indochina - Independent Vietnam), British 1945-1954, US 1954-1975.... yeah... the Western forces didn't have a very good time in Vietnam.

The eldest son rounds were designed to destroy the rifle not necessarily kill or harm the user. The funny thing is these rounds pop up every now and then in the middle east...

@@devonlord99 Eh, the US military had only fought powerful countries in 4 wars, in the American Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, WW1, and WW2, and the Americans had help in all of those conflicts but one, it's kinda hard to say that American soldiers are good fighters when they fought third world countries and disorganized Native American tribes for most of the USA's short history.
Certainly since Korea, itself nearly a century ago and ending in a draw, the US has fought nothing even approaching its equal in terms of resources, and still has a losing record to show for it. Maybe it needs to stop.
@Fer Morales -In World War 1 you joined late, German soldiers were already exhausted by 3 years of deadlock on the Western front, and most of the the Allied troops that repelled the German hundred day offensive weren't even Americans, most of them were British and French. -In WW2 the only reason your island hopping campaign resulted in a success, was because the Chinese and the British tied down millions of Japanese troops that could have been fighting the Americans, the majority of the Japanese army was fighting in China, if you had faced the full might of the Japanese military, your island hopping campaign would have been a costly disaster. -And really? You're going to bring up the Korean war? North Korean troops were extremely inexperienced, and the Chinese just went through a devastating civil war that killed millions of their people, yet you still got pushed all the way back to the 38th parallel, that's not something to be proud of, that's downright embarrassing. And honestly, I won't debunk your other arguments, because they prove my point not yours, it's funny how you are so proud that the mighty United States armed forces kicked the ass of third world countries, and it's funny how you said that the US beat the crap out of the Vietnamese in the Battle of Ia Drang, when the battle is known as "the battle that convinced Ho Chi Minh that he could win." Also half of the American force that landed in Ia Drang were killed, how's that for beating the crap out of the Vietnamese? And the Iraqis were using old tanks during the Gulf War, in fact nearly all of their equipment was old, so is it really a surprise that you mopped the floor with them? "You don't understand the simple fact that Third World bullets can kill you just as dead as First World ones do, do you?" You misunderstood my whole point my point was, the armed forces of Third world countries are usually not able to put up that much of a fight because they are disorganized, have little to no training, and the generals do not know how to strategize, war is not just about guns and bullets, it's also about strategy, planning, tactics, and executing plans at the right time, but hey, you don't understand that simple fact do you?
Imagine you as a teenager where you and your squad mates are all long time friends from preschool and are now kicked out of college and forced into service, it’s hot it’s damp and your boots are as damp as the swamps and the food is terrible, you and your friends are out on a routine combat patrol, SUDDENLY OUT OF NOWHERE ALL YOU SEE WAS YOUR BROTHERS FACE FLYING PASS AS HIS BRAINS PAINTED A NEARBY TREE, suddenly flashes appear out of nowhere and churn up the ground around you, as invisible claws scratches against the trees and creams of the dead or dying lay around you, then and only them as soon as you unload your rifle then does the enemy firing stop, blood pumping, hands sweating and your heart running, you crouch and the. Begin to make your way to treat the wounded only for your long time friend to disappear behind you, two steps to your right and three paces behind you, you turn around to find your friend who has vanished into thin air only to be replaced by the sound of screaming. Gutted and impaled you watch in horror as the contorted face of agony which was once your friend scream and wail calling for help that will never come, or crying out for a mother who isn’t there and the only thing that can be done is what’s best for him, as your eyes lock onto each other, gazes met you raise your pistol and set your friend free from his suffering.
It's a little ironic that I was talking to someone about their, "Toe Poppers" and infamous, "Bouncing Bettys", about twenty minutes before catching this video. They didn't even make your list! Those two mines where designed to injure severly but not kill the target. Now it incapacites at least two more men to pull him. What do you think the rest of the platoon is thinking? Also, man to man, they were the toughest enemy the U.S. ever fought. The Navy Seals picked up on many of their tactics. Don't take my word for it. Look it up.
You need to research and do a video On Mac V Sog from Vietnam. If you want to see the most badass group of fighters in Vietnam look them up and find a video of them to react to.

The Vietnamese would also often monitor US radio frequencies and then an English-speaking Vietnamese would call in US artillery strike on US troops. It would quickly be stopped, but by the time it is discovered, there are already shells in the air... The "problem" was rather quickly solved for the most part, but it caused a lot of casualties with awful psychological effect - knowing you fired on friendlies.

Well....there is a way to recognize the trap by Vietnamese soldiers and other Việt civilians in the area, u must know the war favor the North more than the South, most of civilians in the North (even South sometime) have faith in North Vietnam so they support, and even help Vietcong creative trap or provide material to make one so that why very few Vietnamese (even civilian) injure by their own trap

They used to use our old car batteries to fire katusha rockets. You set the battery in a clearing where in the morning the sun will come up and warm it up.
You could react to the Tunnel rats videos. Infographics has a nice animated one. There is also the (2008) movie called "1968 Tunnel Rats."
There are interviews of tunnel rats who survived Vietnam. Some have done a very large number of tunnel missions and became very good at it.
The tunnels of Cu Chi are now an interactive museum of you should ever go to Vietnam and wish to explore the tunnels firsthand.
It's sad what America did to Vietnam
I remember the game Shellshock 1 was a good game set in Vietnam that had you dealing with traps and such. Shellshock 2 is a terrible sequel turned into a horror game in Vietnam full of zombies and nonsense.
18 mins and 27 secs of this guy saying “wow” and “that’s terrifying”
If I remember right, the USA also set up speakers in the jungle. It was something about superstitions held by the viet cong, where the speakers would play ghostly wailing and phrases from Vietnamese people
I thought Vietnam's population is 99% atheistic.
my uncle vic been to nam and i was told to never ever bring it up, so i didn't but MAN the curiousity like...i wanna know...
These traps and explosives would be amazing for a game and my suggestion for those traps would be Predator Hunting Grounds
Edit: or maybe even battlefield
Actually some of those eldest son rounds are still in circulation today there was a video of an Afghan man firing a full auto ak that suddenly explodes after a few rounds
I just finished watching all your call of duty campaigns
So, best way to look at it. 1887-1954 (French Indochina - Independent Vietnam), British 1945-1954, US 1954-1975.... yeah... the Western forces didn't have a very good time in Vietnam.
Funny you should mention military horror game. I'm watching this clip for inspiration for just that. But for a tabletop rpg, not a computer game.
You have to be aware of this, being in fear and vigilant for solid weeks
Constant fear of punji sticks, snakes, and getting shot. It’s unimaginable.
My grandpa fought in Vietnam. Im the only one he’s talked the most about Vietnam to. But that’s still not saying much. He had severe PTSD to the point that my dad woke up to my grandpa choking him in his sleep. He can’t even drive or go on planes as much.
He still has a photo of him and his two best friends on his dining room table. He’s the only one in that photo that left Vietnam
There's an old Vietnam war games, it's called Vietcong (Tactical FPS shooter) and in this game you need to be patient if you're not patient you could get boobytrapped or get shooted from a bush
The “exploding” round is just meant to disable the enemy’s weapon I’ve seen a few go off a little hurt hands that’s about it (just in the cases I’ve seen)
If someone invades your homeland. You know terrain and know all the choke points and trails being used.
@16:00 - That's a candle... how can you not see it :D
Vietnam is a tough subject. Not talked about much by anyone
Assuming you are american, it would make sense not hearing a lot of getting involved in a war nobody asked the US to join, fuck up everything with orange agent(with nowadays lasting consequences), killing civilians in napalm and raping them and killing 1Milliion vietnamese...and still loose the war. A shame to the US and to human history.
The eldest son rounds were designed to destroy the rifle not necessarily kill or harm the user. The funny thing is these rounds pop up every now and then in the middle east...
The thing is, in a triple layer canopy jungle like that, your not gunna wear body armor, you'll over heat faster than in a desert. The usmc sends troops to Okinawa to train in the jungle warfare training course, so there's that I guess
Arma 3 SOG prairie fire, not classified as horror but there is some spooky moment's it might interest you.
Luke: Surely thats against the geneva convention (12:00)
My terrible humor: Geneva Convention? more like Geneva Suggestion Amirite?
HAAAA
Yeah, when he said that I thought, "Isn't napalm against the Geneva convention as well?"
Yo put skill checks in the game too. Like to dodge a trap but the skill check button will change between 4 buttons and is random.
Im learning about veitnam right now on school, you should react to the tunnel system
Oh don’t worry they will tell you stuff to make America look great 😉 LMAOOOOOOOOO
@@TheCowboysrock8 yeah I wouldn't want to read books making the vietkong looking good...
@@silva5623 oh you mean the people America created LOL?
@@TheCowboysrock8 haha true American people be so brainwashed they don’t even see the bs that America created
Make sure you pay attention to pass your test and stuff but remember the real stuff you should know you’re not going to learn nor will your teacher tell you so always remember that
i think the us would never get used to their terrain because they have so many different regions they have desserts plains and everything
Well that and because the US military sucks at fighting.
@@user-um8vh2uc1y they’ve never been the best at quick adaptation but that doesn’t mean they’re bad fighters. (Australians have an edge because they’ve got their own jungles to train in)
@@devonlord99 Eh, the US military had only fought powerful countries in 4 wars, in the American Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, WW1, and WW2, and the Americans had help in all of those conflicts but one, it's kinda hard to say that American soldiers are good fighters when they fought third world countries and disorganized Native American tribes for most of the USA's short history.
Certainly since Korea, itself nearly a century ago and ending in a draw, the US has fought nothing even approaching its equal in terms of resources, and still has a losing record to show for it. Maybe it needs to stop.
@Fer Morales
-In World War 1 you joined late, German soldiers were already exhausted by 3 years of deadlock on the Western front, and most of the the Allied troops that repelled the German hundred day offensive weren't even Americans, most of them were British and French.
"You don't understand the simple fact that Third World bullets can kill you just as dead as First World ones do, do you?"
You misunderstood my whole point my point was, the armed forces of Third world countries are usually not able to put up that much of a fight because they are disorganized, have little to no training, and the generals do not know how to strategize, war is not just about guns and bullets, it's also about strategy, planning, tactics, and executing plans at the right time, but hey, you don't understand that simple fact do you?
There was a horror Vietnam game called shell-shocked blood trails I think it was on the ps2 however it had some weird zombie focus
Biggest problem with jungle warfare is how dense it is. Aerial reconnaissance is pretty much impossible
"They can see things In the sky"
The three: am i a joke to you
Watch the Ken Burns series called the Vietnam War, I'm sure you can find it on TH-cam
I mean fair play to Vietnam in 1 century they defeated. The Japanese the French the Americans the Chinese and overthrew pol pot in Cambodia. Vietnamese tough people
Doesn’t the Geneva convention get updated over time? Sneaking explosive ammunition to the enemy may not have been part of it at the time.
If you wanna know more about the Vietnam war I recommend watching the movie platoon it’s really good
The explosive rounds are still in circulation around the Middle East and other surrounding areas to this day
15:58 , it's actually a candle.
Nearly every single one of these traps have been removed after the war, and not a single case of reported injuries came from these traps but rather from undetonated explosives, which is still a major threat and can sometimes be found quietly lying under our homes till this day and can explode any moment
The ghost tapes of vietnam or operation wandering soul is what i think you’re referring too. Omeleto made a short film on it itd be a cool vid to react to
Operation wandering soul is a psychological warfare right?
@@KanaaWiee yep, Psy-Ops guys in Saigon got civilians to go & record voice-overs from scripts, basically making the claims that they're the ghosts of fighters killed by US troops & pleading with their comrades to go home to their families & stop fighting. You can find the audio here on TH-cam with a bit of digging.
@@KanaaWiee indeed
Anzac's volunteers fought in Vietnam they destroyed mines and IEDs and tunnels. Vietnam was the first war we Americans faced homemade mines and devices in mass such as keepsake lose hand is an example of such.
During the Viet Nam war the troops did use flack vests the forerunner to to body armor. Now the traps were marked by the V.C. and NVA so the likely hood of them falling pray to their own traps were slim. The bottle in the helmet band could be an of a number of things issued and non issued my thought it might be the infantryman's life blood good old Tabasco sauce.
You should watch the Ken Burns Vietnam War 2017 10 part documentary series if you wanna know more about the history. Absolutely amazing doc, you can get it on Amazon Prime. 👍
My Uncle, who was a Marine in Vietnam hardly Ever spoke about the war. When he did it was only two my brother and I as we were the oldest and the only boys. He also told his Son when he got older. He said that the Booby traps , the very thought was constant. I spoke about ine of his Bros falling victim to Pungi sticks.
So the spike hole what they would do is dip the spikes in raw sewage so even if you lived you would inevitably die from the infection it caused
love ur videos
Every area has a different code "password" only known by some special VC to avoid traps. Any VC that comes from another area or village needs to contact those "special" to lead them thru. And of course, the code was changed every week or day, it depends.
btw there's still some possible elder son rounds around, in the middle-east for example
15:36: It’s not a hotdog…It’s TNT, used to destroy booby-traps! Guerrilla wars are un-winnable irrespective of technology!
You should give ken burns documentary on the vietnam war a watch.
I would love you to see react to more about this war I know a fair bit about it
The Vietnamese would also often monitor US radio frequencies and then an English-speaking Vietnamese would call in US artillery strike on US troops. It would quickly be stopped, but by the time it is discovered, there are already shells in the air... The "problem" was rather quickly solved for the most part, but it caused a lot of casualties with awful psychological effect - knowing you fired on friendlies.
Probably hear a story soon of a tourist landing in one of the punji sticks trap.
Imagine a tactical game where much like battlefield where you can set up traps and ambushes
You may not see this but there is a horror Vietnam game out there. It’s called shell shock 2: Blood Trails. It’s a great game and you should definitely play it.
By the way, some of that "Eldest Son" ammo is still in circulation on the black market, there is even video of some poor jihadi having his AK blow up because of one of these rounds.
Not a video, but a hefty book if you’re up for a read. Look at “For the Common Defense: An American Military History from 1607 to 2012.” It’ll tell you everything about the big picture in every American conflict, and it will also cover some of the small picture as well. We used it in my American Military History course in college, very informative
A horror game set in Vietnam would be really interesting, especially if its a "realistic" type of horror like ghosts and the paranormal.
A vietnam game horror sounds fun. Make it!
Because traps were made by locals. That's how they vote
Vietnam was a testing ground for the latest and greatest military tech and weaponry, and look into operation Popeyes and the gulf of Tonkin
The heavy body armor our troops wear now would actually cause more fatalities because now you have a fuck ton more weight pushing you down on those spikes and make it harder to get out of the way of something swinging down to hit you
I think a military horror-based video game would be excellent
