Hi there, I'm German, I'm 58 and Herbert is one of our greatest Acts in Germany in my Generation. Have a closer look on this song. It is part of a Album from him, published in 2002. Two of its songs are a little more worth to look at. 1. "Mensch" (human) and 2. Der Weg (The way) Both songs are dedicated to a special member of his family. 1. Mensch is dedicated to his Brother. He passed away in 1998 by struggling with cancer. 2. Der Weg is dedicated to his late Wife, Anne. She passed only 5 days later by loosig her battle against breast cancer. Der Weg tells the story of her love, her life and their handling of the battle they know about, they can't win and his grief. We have to say thank you to his daughter, that he fight back on stage, 4 Years after that. She forced him to promise her, not to quit music at all. The Concert in 2003, we had watched here, was his verry first concert after 4 years. In this stadium are 65000 people in the audition. They helped him to sing along his list of songs. And it was the biggest celebration he ever had on stage. Up from that day on every setlist of his Concerts two songs remain. 1. Mensch and 2. The way. They are part of each and every concert of him. And we, his fans, will kepp this tradition, till the last courtain will fell.
This is a part of our german musik history! In germany we say... Glück auf ❤❤❤. And dont be ashamed to cry!! The people in germany cryed a million tears with him !!!
The inner strength with which Herbert sings the song is incredible. You can literally see how much the death of his great love hurts him. The fact that his voice doesn't break and he doesn't start crying unrestrainedly is remarkable. Very emotional, great lyrics and one of the most beautiful love songs I know.
It’s the heart that he puts in to his music I don’t know what he saying but that doesn’t matter it’s what makes you feel inside you can feel it he’s singing of some thing very deep a place of sharing for all to see thank you for sharing dear 🕊
there is a version of this performance out there with really good english subtitles. I suggest watching this. Even though some german phrases in this song are hard to translate knowing what it`s about adds so much to the experience
without knowing the meaning of the lyrics, your reaction is astonishing and amazing ❣ in Germany this is a very iconic song. he wrote this song for his wife who died of cancer. and his brother died of cancer, too, just 4 days before Herberts wife.
I can understand your reaction. This song is a declaration of love to his late wife. Her death hit him so hard that he considered giving up singing. We have his daughter to thank for this, other things, who asked him to carry on and to make the album "Mensch", which this song is from, to help him deal with the pain of loss. This song and the song "Unbewohnt" are, for me, the most beautiful and at the same time the saddest on this album.
As I'm putting togheter my funeral, this is one of my songs, please give yourself the chance to watch this with the english subtitels .... so poëtisch, written for his departed wife.... hug from a new subscriber from the Netherlands ❤❤❤
A shy meow and hug from Switzerland to Nigeria and to you, Tee! :) I was a Grönemeyer fan since my teeniehood, I'm 41 now. Nice that people from all over the world listen to Gröny's songs! :)
First of all, I would like to say that I think it's great to see how more and more people elsewhere are so open-minded and interested in getting to know music and artists from other countries. This shows that you don't close yourself and give everyone a chance to convince. But the real reason I'm leaving a comment is to say thank you. You show everyone who gets to experience your reaction how approachable, empathetic and soulful you are and what honest and real music is capable of. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible for a language as foreign and certainly difficult as German to bring you to tears. You have a lot of heart and feelings for others and everything that carries emotions, that's what I felt when I saw what was triggered in you. I wish you lots of love, happiness and health and that you never lose your fun in getting to know new things. :) I liked your reaction video, also because the focus was really on the reaction from you...and it became very clear what you thought of the song.
@@Teeeee143 You're welcome, it was meant the way I wrote it. Please continue to hold on to it...this is something valuable, which will certainly be confirmed and gratefully made clear to everyone who has the opportunity to experience you, both in reality and through your reactions. Stay as you are, because that's wonderful.
You understand all of the German Words. A Man he lost his Wife, really, no Song Rhyme! Your Reaction shows what your Soul is feeling.😍 (Sorry for my old School English).
