  • If Florida State and Clemson were added to the Big 12 after being declined by the SEC and Big Ten, it would create a seismic shift in the college football landscape, significantly bolstering the Big 12's competitiveness, financial stability, recruiting appeal, and national reputation.
    Competitive Balance
Florida State and Clemson are storied programs with a history of success, particularly Clemson, which has been a national powerhouse in recent years. Their addition would elevate the competitive nature of the Big 12, injecting fresh rivalries and high-stakes matchups. Games against Texas, Oklahoma State, and Baylor would become marquee events, drawing national attention. This heightened competition would not only make the conference more exciting for fans but also prepare all teams for tougher postseason play, enhancing the Big 12's overall performance in bowl games and potential playoff scenarios.
    Financial Benefits
The financial implications of adding Florida State and Clemson would be substantial. Both programs have large, dedicated fan bases that would drive increased viewership and attendance. This boost in popularity would likely lead to more lucrative television contracts and sponsorship deals, significantly increasing the revenue pool for the conference. The influx of funds could be used to improve athletic facilities, support student-athletes, and enhance overall program quality across all member schools. This financial stability would solidify the Big 12's position as a top-tier conference.
    Recruiting Dynamics
The inclusion of Florida State and Clemson would dramatically enhance the Big 12's recruiting appeal. Top high school prospects would be attracted to the prospect of playing for or against premier programs in high-profile games. This would elevate the talent level across the conference, as more elite athletes would consider the Big 12 a desirable destination. Additionally, the geographical reach of the Big 12 would expand into the southeastern United States, a region known for producing top football talent, further strengthening recruiting pipelines.
    National Perception
Adding Florida State and Clemson would significantly boost the Big 12's national reputation. The conference would be viewed as a formidable competitor to the SEC and Big Ten, altering the balance of power in college football. This move would signal the Big 12's commitment to growth and excellence, attracting more media attention and increasing its influence in NCAA governance. The Big 12 would be seen as a dynamic and competitive league, capable of hosting some of the best college football programs in the country.
    Conclusion
In conclusion, the addition of Florida State and Clemson to the Big 12, especially after being declined by the SEC and Big Ten, would be transformative. It would enhance the conference's competitive balance, financial health, recruiting appeal, and national perception. The Big 12 would emerge as a stronger and more influential player in college football, capable of challenging the traditional powerhouses and attracting more fans, recruits, and media attention. This strategic move would position the Big 12 for sustained success and prominence in the ever-evolving landscape of college athletics.

WVU has been great in the Big 12. A state that LIVES it's Univeristy sports. They've been my favorite add since they came in 2012. I would HATE to lose them. I'm a KU diehard, and hey've become a great rival for Kansas in Basketball. Self and Huggins like each other real well. They are also very competitive in football. If Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, Virginia, Louisville, and Miami joined the Big 12 I could see the Big 12 getting $65 million per school and with Yormark getting the Big 12 more money for basketball the payout per school could be an additional $15-$20 million more! This would make the payout per Big 12 school on par with the SEC and the B1G! Who knows, within a few years, if a few of the Big 12 schools win the national titles in football and basketball the payouts for the Big 12 could be even higher than the SEC and B1G since the Big 12 is already the best conference in basketball and it’s not that far off from the SEC and the B1G in football with the additions of Clemson, Florida State, Miami, and Louisville! I think with the additions of these new schools the future for the Big 12 would take off like crazy! Way more than the SEC and the B1G because this conference has a bunch of schools that are very good in both football and basketball unlike the SEC and the B1G that are very top-heavy with 3-4 schools in those conferences dominating all of the other schools in football and not many of them are top basketball schools! I hope Clemson and Florida State would see the potential of the Big 12 and not think they have to join the SEC or the B1G in order to make a lot of money! Plus, if they joined the Big 12 they would automatically become the top alpha dogs in the conference, but if they joined the SEC or the B1G they could find themselves burried in the depth charts behind schools like Alabama, Georgia, OU, Ohio State, Michigan, and USC just like Arkansas and Nebraska are right now since they have joined the SEC and the B1G respectively!

The only reason the recent per school payout at the ACC appears greater than the Big 12 is because all our new members have been given full shares whereas the other conferences pay $0 to 50% to theirs. I personally hate all this but we didn't start the fight. I would love to go back to more regionally based conferences but apparently that doesn't maximize TV viewership. To an extent, eyes on college football is fulfilling as the games in the better time slots will always far outperform low viewership times. Still, this is just a step in the evolving control of college football by corporate interests.

The Big 12s media deal is currently structured off of a 12 team conference, adding FSU and Clemson would increase the CFP payouts to the Big 12, and the Big 12 gets their media deal restructed in 2030. The ACC only makes 4m more in revenue than the Big 12 now, and that was with having more members in your conference.

If they actually leave the ACC which would be a lateral move at best if to the B12 honestly, I can't see why the B12 wouldn't also take Miami and one other top team willing to jump. I don't think B12 has a shot at UNC or Virginia as those markets would be welcomed in one of the Big 2 which they would go if these schools jump to the B12.

All the people coping saying leaving the ACC to the Big 12 would be a lateral move are wild. The ACC only makes 4m more per school in a 14 team league with ND as non-football member media deal than a 12 member Big 12 media deal. How can you all not see that when the Big 12 media deal is adjusted to the new 16 team model, especially if you add FSU and Clemson to be an 18 team conference, which happens sooner than the ACC, that the Big 12 will make vastly more money than the ACC. Not to mention the CFP revenue will go up, and the fact that the Big 12 is completely bought in on football while you still have ACC schools that dont care about football.
If Clemson and FSU cant get into the Big 10 or SEC, they would be fools to stay in the abysmal leadership of Phillips and not join the Big 12.

The ACC is clearly a worse conference.
SMU was declined by the Big XII, lapped up by the ACC.
When the Pac 12 fell apart, the Big XII got Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and Arizona State while the ACC ended up with Cal and Stanford.
Almost half of the schools in the ACC voted to leave the conference and dissolve the conference last year.

This is great for the Big 12. Losing Texas and Oklahoma left the conference with zero football blue bloods, while still having quality teams. The closest blue blood right now is BYU lol. Adding Clemson and FSU gives the conference 2 legit blue bloods. If we can also add some of Duke, UNC, Miami, or Louisville, the conference would close the gap with the SEC.
